Chapitre 35: Chapter 35: Confrontation

The black-robed man lunged towards the auctioneer while brandishing his blade. He thrust the sword in his hand forward and his blade snaked towards the auctioneer's throat. The auctioneer calmly dodged the attack before making a pole appear from thin air. He used the pole like a bat and launched the black-robed man out of the auction hall. "Please do not be mistaken Sir Roas, " the auctioneer with a cold smile, "We aren't afraid of you but of our reputation being damaged and the one behind you. If we were to offend that person then we might not be able to continue our business but you...You are not worthy of our concern and consideration. No matter how strong you might become in the future you would never be able to match up to a mere auctioneer like me much less our company. Also, even if you would, a sapling still takes years to grow into a tree. Now Sir Roas, will you keep on making a scene or will you behave yourself and participate?"

Roas gritted his teeth when he saw the auctioneer's display of strength and heard his words. He was not afraid of this lowly auctioneer. However, this lowly auctioneer was already the same strength as him being on the Divine Bridge stage of the Mortal Shedding Realm. His battle power might even be stronger than that of this lowly auctioneer's. Nevertheless, if a mere lowly auctioneer was this strong then how strong would the guards be?

Meanwhile, Marcus was watching with interest. His doubts had just been answered with the one attack from the auctioneer. Earlier he was wondering how an auction which can get such rare items would be so weak. They were afraid of unruly criminals taking their revenge and acting unreasonably. However, it turns out that it was the Will of the Aether who they were really afraid of. The Will of the Aether probably told them to wait for the Dungeon Masters at all costs or it will stop supporting them or something along those lines. However, the earlier call was probably made to the Will of the Aether to ask whether they could leave behind the last Dungeon Master since he was so late. After that, the auctioneer became bolder and unafraid of the consequences. To be more exact he was sure that the Thousand Treasures Auction would have his back.

"Hmm, that auctioneer is pretty strong too. They are both at the Divine Bridge Stage of the Mortal Shedding Realm. However, the auctioneer is probably a little stronger than that Dungeon Master Roas," Marcus said as he observed the two."

"So Sir Roas? What is your decision?" the auctioneer asked Roas.

Roas gritted his teeth as he stared daggers at the auctioneer. "What is your name?"

"Why Sir Roas? Is this lowly auctioneer's name something that a noble person such as yourself should remember?" the auctioneer asked with a sneer.

"I'll remember your face then," Roas said through gritted teeth. "Take me to my room."

"I would love to Sir Roas however you wasted too much time thinking and the room closed off. We would spend too much to try and open it again so we have no choice but to invite you to seat on the first floor," the auctioneer explained with a feigned apologetic smile.

"Why you!" Roas gritted his teeth so much that veins started to bulge out from his head.

"Please grant us your noble self's understanding Sir Roas," the auctioneer said with a pleading face.

"Hmph! Since I'm so kind I'll forgive you," Roas said while grinding his teeth.

In his room, Marcus was laughing while watching the show put up by the auctioneer. "This Roas' plan was not bad but he took too long to execute it. If he wasn't so greedy he would still have his face and privileges. However, he just had to go and offend the auctioneer. I wouldn't be surprised if he wouldn't be able to get an item later on due to that auctioneer's meddling."

Meanwhile, Roas was having a mental conversation with someone else. "How was it Soer? Was that good enough?" Roas asked.

"It is plenty Lord Roas," Soer replied, "This is more than enough of an excuse to antagonise the Thousand Treasures Auction. Now all you need to do is to feign buying some items in the auction and have that auctioneer meddle a bit. With that our plan will be guaranteed."

"Will I get the reward?" Roas asked what he was truly worried about.

"Don't worry Lord Roas you will get the reward His Highness has promised. His Highness is so magnanimous that he decided to give you some extra rewards. I will inform you of them when you return."

"Thank you very much! Soer help me thank His Highness for his magnanimity," Roas said hurriedly as his heart fluttered in joy.

As Roas cut the connection between them Soer muttered, "Humans are simple and easy to control."

As the two were having their conversation the auctioneer was getting the auction underway. The first ten items were already auctioned and the eleventh item was up for auction.

"As you all know, our Thousand Treasures Auction doesn't only sell treasures but also some collector items that may have no value at all but may catch the eye of some collectors. Our next item is one such item. It is a very normal piece of paper however it has all the Ten Ancient Languages written on it. They are written horizontally in ten lines to complete a single sentence. Unfortunately, we are unable to translate it. The starting price is 1 DP."
