Chapitre 26: Graphology

Sheng Jie almost skipped back to the office. Leng Yuchen reluctantly peeled his eyes away from the screen for a moment when he heard him knocking, then continued to get lost in the world of An Qi after telling him to come in.

An Qi's part-timer vest was very conspicuous among the crowd of regular employees. But, whenever people looked at her in surprise, she would simply greet them affectionately. She wasn't like the other timid part-timers at all, and her inherent nobility made Leng Yuchen's mouth curl up into a smile.

Sheng Jie was also on cloud nine, and the dark and unhappy clouds from the past few days had all vanished. "Boss Leng! Mission accomplished! Miss An Qi did not suspect anything!"

During the conversation, Sheng Jie had jumped in front of the desk, rubbed his hands together secretly, and was waiting excitedly for Leng Yuchen's praise. However, his croaking had obviously only disturbed Leng Yuchen, thus agitating him instantly.

Fortunately, An Qi had only stayed in the underground storehouse for a short time before being dragged back to the fourth floor by Auntie Sun. As Auntie Sun's office was also her single room, which meant that there were no surveillance cameras inside it, Leng Yuchen had no choice but to turn off the monitor and turn all his attentions to Sheng Jie.

Sheng Jie did not know why he was so upset, but he could read the displeasure in Leng Yuchen's expression. Sheng Jie grinned awkwardly as he said, "Boss Leng, I'm sure you heard, but Miss An Qi invited me to dinner! And… I'm pretty clever as well, as I figured out a way to bring you with me!"

"Well, you did a good job of dealing with it, but you almost exposed us!" Leng Yuchen was referring to Sheng Jie's accidentally blurting out that An Qi was a newcomer.

Sheng Jie smacked his lips in regret. He could only blame himself, as his mind didn't work fast enough when doing certain things.

"Boss Leng, actually, I don't quite understand one thing..." Sheng Jie said.

"What?" Leng Yuchen crossed his arms across his chest and leaned back.

"Now that you've discovered Miss An Qi's identity, and it so happens that she is our employee, why did you not just reunite with her immediately?" Sheng Jie asked, while he handed the note that An Qi had left to Leng Yuchen.

Leng Yuchen took the note and looked at it. There was a phone number that had been written on it by An Qi herself. Although the handwriting was delicate looking, the strength that she had used when writing it had been enough to cause the ink to show through the back of the paper.

Graphology is a study of the psychological characteristics of writers, as well as the changes in their mental states while writing. According to An Qi's writing style, she has a double recessive personality, meaning that she i gentle and talkative in front of people, but stubborn to the bone. As such, it is difficult for her to let most people into her heart.

"Boss Leng?" Sheng Jie called out to Leng Yuchen upon seeing that he had been stunned silent by the note.

Leng Yuchen put the note neatly on the desk as he said, "Don't forget about the contract. Also, I saw a man in the surveillance video just now. He was absolutely forcing An Qi to run towards the fourth floor, so even if it was to find out who wanted to harm An Qi, it would be inconvenient for me to show up."

Sheng Jie smacked his forehead and said, "I would've totally forgotten if you hadn't mentioned it when you showed me the contract! I had not known An Qi's identity at that time. Now, it seems that it should have been done by someone whose interests were directly related to her."

"Yes, even though HaiRui's scale is not big, it can also squeeze into the top 100 in this city, so it's not surprising that there would be competition for the family property." After he finished speaking, Leng Yuchen suddenly got up and walked to the window.

He looked towards the distance, deep in thought. The glow of the setting sun came into his eyes, highlighting a few telltale glimmers of loneliness within them.

Sheng Jie stood behind Leng Yuchen and looked at him emotionlessly. He knew about An Qi's business this time, so he was also lost in thought.

At the end of the Leng Group's fourth-floor corridor.

Auntie Sun's hand was strong enough to cause An Qi mild pain, but she grit her teeth and persisted until she had entered the office. As soon as she entered the office, Auntie Sun relaxed a bit.

She quickly released An Qi's hand and explained, "I used to carry goods, so my hands and feet are rough. Don't mind it, An Qi."

"Why would I mind?" An Qi rubbed her swollen wrist under the table and smiled. "Auntie Sun, why were you so anxious to pull me back?"

Auntie Sun certainly couldn't tell her that it was all an act for the higher-ups sakes. So, she kept up her charade as she picked up a few snacks and stuffed them into her mouth nonchalantly.

She then said, "Oh, I just wanted to remind you not to get too close to those people in the Leng Group's underground storehouse."

"Huh?" An Qi frowned, not really understanding. "You've said it the other way round accidentally, right? Leng's acceptance report is related to HaiRui's reputation. Shouldn't we get closer to them?"

Auntie Sun's face immediately fell as she waved her hands around and said, "I can't explain everything to you in such a short time. It's almost time to get off work anyway. You should tidy up and leave."

"What, don't we have to punch out?" An Qi asked suspiciously, while she was being pushed to the door by Auntie Sun.

"C'mon, it's just the two of us here! Didn't you see that there's not even a monitor in this room? The Leng Group doesn't see us as one of them, so you don't have to deal with them too much!" Auntie Sun said.

An Qi wanted to speak to Auntie Sun again. Unfortunately, the room behind her was filled with the sounds of square dancing, which caused An Qi to lose the courage to knock on the door.

An Qi walked along the long corridor. She felt disappointed, as she hadn't expected her first day of work to end like that.

She took out her cell phone and called An Yufei. She wanted to explain to her daughter that she was going to have dinner out that night. Unexpectedly, little Yufei seemed indifferent to her, simply telling An Qi to have a good time.

An Qi returned her vest to the security office, then took a taxi to Strolling in Tokyo. However, just beyond An Qi's sight, a grey car was following her taxi.

Sheng Jie was the one driving the car. In order not to arouse An Qi's suspicion, for the first time ever, Leng Yuchen had squeezed himself into Sheng Jie's A-class car. It was so small, it was beyond his imagination!

Sheng Jie scratched his head, then said as he was driving, "Boss Leng, you look silly!"

After that, Sheng Jie kept giggled a bit. Leng Yuchen grabbed a small pillow that was in the back seat and smacked Sheng Jie's face with it playfully, causing Sheng Jie's hand to slip a bit.

Immediately, the gray car skidded in a snake-like pattern, spinning one time around before righting itself. After An Qi heard the brakes screeching behind her, she looked back.

Leng Yuchen shrank down in his seat like a thief and yelled at Sheng Jie, "Drive carefully! An Qi might see us!"
