Huh… this master of mine is the worst. First, he didn't tell me about something so important, and then he runs away rather than face me!
I will get back at you! I promise you that!
But for now, I need to move from here. I collapsed on my bed last night, so it wasn't too bad. Was it five or six hours later that I was finally able to somehow walk again? Either way, only the next day did I finally leave the master house. With a backpack packed to the brim, I started to walk.
Master lived on the complete opposite end of the city, but my mother worked somewhere midway, so the best choice was to go to her and have her drive me. It was none when I left so I should be able to get there when she finished work.
At 4pm I arrived, even though I walked for a few hours, but I was far from being tired. The University of Ottawa, my mother, is a professor in the history department. If I didn't meet Master, I would've most likely been attending here now.
"Hi, I'm looking for Olivia Blake, can you tell me where I can find her." The line at the reception was long, I had to wait for full a full five minutes.
"Sure thing. Let me check her schedule really quick." The receptionist looked back at her screen and started typing.
"Excuse me, you are looking for Professor Blake?"
Someone tapped my shoulder from behind, I looked around to see an angel in human form! Truly a beauty that would move every man's heart! Gently flowing pitch-dark hair, caramel skin, cherry lips, and starry eyes. With a devilish body, and the voice of a goddess!
"Uhm Y-Yes." I said while nodding as hard as I could.
"Then I can help you! I just finished my class with her, and she should still be in the classroom. I just need to get something done at the reception quickly, if you can wait a bit, then I will take you there."
"Sure!"
A few minutes later we were walking through the campus, turning here and there in the complicated cluster of corridors.
'I have to say something. Hey, what's your name? The weather is nice today! This place sure is big! No… it has to be something cool…'
"Professor Blake, there is someone here to see you."
Huh? Wait we are already here?!
"Really? Who is it?" My mother was sitting behind a desk, reading papers with a red pen beside her. She looked up and saw me. With a blank expression, she stood up and walked up to me.
"Hi, mom. Long time no see." I put my best smile and said it in a gentle voice.
'SMACK!"
But it didn't stop her from slapping the back of my head. This gentle mother of mine, when you get her angry like I plenty did by not showing up for so long, was probably only saved by the angle like Emily standing right beside me.
"Thank you for bringing him here Emily, you can leave now."
"Not a problem."
The door closed behind Emily, while my mother went back to her desk. "What happened that you suddenly show up?" she asked.
"Master had some business to take care of, while I finally had some success in the training. So, he gave me some break time, to rest and visit family. More importantly, Emily is your student?"
"Yes. She is actually my best students, her interest and knowledge in history is much better than any of her peers, especially when it comes to ancient languages. She is already doing her own research in that field. But, why are you asking?"
"Do you know… if she is seeing anyone?"
"Seeing anyone? Really? You visit your mother for the first time in weeks, and the first thing you want to do is chase after a girl?"
"It means no?"
"Sigh… I don't think she does."
"Then you should be nicer to her from now on."
"What are you talking about?"
"She is your future daughter-in-law."
'Ahh ha ha' She didn't hold back and started laughing wholeheartedly. "When did you start joking like this? You used to be so much more serious."
My mother quickly finished marking the rest of the papers, and we left the university. Back home, we prepared some food, and when father came back from the office, we ate watched a movie and talked. They asked a lot what I was doing, but there was not much to speak of, and giving them unnecessary details wouldn't be right.
Seeing my old room felt a bit nostalgic, but not for long. After everything today, I was a was tired, but instead of resting I started to meditate. When I cleared my mind, I was able to see it. My soul gently glowing in the middle of my body.
I felt the energy pulsing in it, calmly and genteelly. As a soul artist, I'm guessing that this energy will be the source of my power. But the way of utilizing it was still an unknown. What can I do with it? And should I try it now? Master didn't say anything about how to use it. Is there a period that is needed for a soul to stabilize? It didn't look like anything is happening with it now.
Did he forget to tell me? It wouldn't be the first time…
Should I try something?
But what? That armor Master can make would be a good start. How should I do that? Maybe I should start with seeing what will happen if I move that energy? That sounds like a good start.
I focused my mind on that energy, I felt how it was moving in my soul, and then slowly extracted a small amount of it. So far nothing in particular happened, the energy wasn't disappearing or moving anymore it became static.
Next, I moved it slowly outside of the body, there was a small amount of resistance, but the energy exited the tip of my finger and stayed there for a few seconds before dissipating.
Hmm… it looks like the moment that it left my body, I lost most control over it. But for a while it was still there it looked like a small disc floating above my skin. Not too far away, not too close, about half a centimeter from the surface.
Can it be that simple?
