The rest of the day passed by slowly. It didn't help that I was being investigated by the police about my dad's injuries. To make matters worse is that I technically did do it even though it was the spirit inside of me. It left me no choice but to wonder about how injured he was. I know what he did now, but that doesn't mean that I want him dead. I peer over to see Jiro staring at me with a worried expression on her face after knowing what I went through. I signal that's it's fine and try to pay attention to the lesson at hand. After class, I walked towards Mirai's house since that where I'll be staying for the foreseeable future. I tried to distract myself from the topic at hand by paying attention to the things around me, but everything seemed to remind me of the horrible truth presented to me. I decided to take my mind off things by calling Freezer to ask how's everyone's doing.
Freezer: They're fine. You could just visit instead of asking me over the phone.
Denki: I'm the reason they're hurt and besides maybe it's not the best that I'm around you guys right now.
Freezer: Why's that?
Denki: It seems that they have a special detective by the name of Jojo who is investigating the case around my father.
Freezer: Is he in Special Task Force Delta?
Denki: Yes, how did you know him?
Freezer: Well, he's my father.
Denki: What! No! NO! NO! NO! NO! Does that mean he has Mini's quirk? If that's the case, then I'm doomed.
Freezer: Quit whining, he doesn't have Mini's quirk. Her quirk comes from our mother while my quirk comes from our father.
Denki: That means that his quirk is intuition.
Freezer: Yep.
Denki: That doesn't make me feel much better considering that your quirk is powerful for searching for the truth.
Freezer: It is amazing, but it's not always reliable. You should know that the quirk can fail when you need it the most.
Denki: Yeah, sorry. Didn't mean to bring those skeletons out of the closet.
Freezer: It's fine. You're going through a rough time.
Denki: You're being oddly nice today. Is everything alright?
Freezer: Don't make me hang up.
Denki: There is the person I know and love.
Freezer: Whatever. Just don't get into any more trouble but knowing you it'll happen anyway.
Denki: Bye!
Freezer: Bye.
[Jojo's POV]
There are so many unknown variables in this case. The Butcher refuses to talk about anything and has given up nothing while in police custody. The father is currently unconscious at the hospital and they have no idea when he'll wake up. To make matters worse, the person I suspect that is responsible is that kid Denki. However, my intuition was telling me that pretty much all the answers he gave me were true. I still have my doubts because of the injuries on his father's body. Even if he was telling the truth there might be more to the story than he's letting on. His behavior was very suspicious as well, it won't hurt to keep a close eye on him while I look at the case more closely. I could ask Joe to watch him, but then I'll owe him a favor that I don't want to repay. I'll suck it up this time and ask him. He's annoying but good at what he does. Now I just need to find out everything important about him on my own and hopefully, it'll lead me the truth of what happened. At least that's what my intuition is telling me.
[Shinki (Inja's Friend) POV]
I look down over my friend in a hospital bed who's out cold with no estimate to when he will wake up. What happened to have things come to this? I know just how much he struggled with everything in his life and he doesn't deserve the harsh reality that's being thrust upon him. There's not much I can do, but maybe when this is all over he can truly have peace of mind. I don't want him to keep suffering by blaming himself for his wife, his son, and how things turned out. I check with the doctor and ask him to let me know if any changes occur to his condition. I check the visiting records and see that Denki still hasn't shown up to see his father. This only confirms my suspicions that he has found out the truth about what happened. I think that his wounds he's suffering from his emotions are causing far more pain than the injuries inflicted on his body ever could. I walk out from the hospital wondering what lies next for this family.
[Denki's POV]
A few days later, I'm strolling to my new "home" for the time being and I come across a small crying girl with red hair.
Denki: Hello, my name is Denki. What's your name?
???: Darla.
Denki: Well, Darla what seems to be the problem?
Darla: My mother lied to me. Why? I don't understand? Why doesn't she trust me?
Denki: What did she lie about?
Darla: She promised me that I could see dad but forbade me from going near him ever again. Why? I don't understand? I don't get it?
Denki: Maybe she was trying to protect you.
Darla: I can protect myself. I'm super strong. She knows that.
Denki: She can't read your mind. Sometimes people need a reminder of what you're capable of. She was probably blinded at that moment. Maybe it would help if you think about it from her point of view, then you could see she's devastated for having refused your request.
Darla: Really?
Denki: Besides you can't ignore the problem and hope it goes away. I'm sure if you just ask her and she sees that your strong enough then maybe she would tell you the truth.
Darla: I guess you're right.
She cheerily runs off to confront her mother once again. I smile at her as she runs off, but my smile quickly turns to a frown as I see Mirai approaching me from behind.
Mirai: Don't you think you need to take your own advice. Why don't you see him?
Denki: But...
Mirai: No butts. It's like you told the girl, you can't avoid these things forever.
Denki: I guess you're right. Would you like to come with me?
Mirai: I would but isn't this a perfect opportunity to ask a woman to give you her sympathy and compassion. Maybe one thing leads to another...
Denki: Stop. Just stop making jokes because you are bad at them. I'll go tomorrow alright.
Mirai says nothing else as we walk home together.
