Seeing that Snake was pretending to remain prideful yet having no choice but to give in to her, Gu Mengmeng's mood improved significantly. She tiptoed and pecked his chin, then giggled.

Snake's face had brightened because of Gu Mengmeng's attempt to please him, so he turned to the side graciously and said, "I have brought back your guardian beast."

Gu Mengmeng's body froze, along with the smile on her face. A watery mist instantly covered her eyes and she wiped them before she turned to look in the direction that Snake was pointing at.

"Gregory…" Gu Mengmeng choked when she called out his name.

Gregory was smiling very gently. He stood at his spot without moving closer, and only looked at her with a deep gaze, saying, "I promised that I will be back, I have fulfilled that promise."
