Lu Xiang got up from bed and looked out of his window to find that the sun had already risen. He could hear the birds chirping and stood at the window to observe them closely.
It seemed like they were pretty much occupied with finding worms which they would use to feed their young ones, that sat expectantly, chirping loudly they awaited their parents return.
He watched as the adult bird chewed some of the worm and put it directly into the beaks of the chicks that received them gladly. He watched this scene for a while before he decided to go brush his teeth.
He spat into the sink and wiped his mouth with the sleeves of his shirt. Then he went into the kitchen were he fixed a breakfast of cereals and cold milk.
The house was very quiet cause he lived alone, the only other person who frequented the house was the caretaker who came only during the weekend.
The house was a lovely little bungalow which was situated far away from the town and was near the lake side. The veranda of the house over looked the little lake which normally froze over during the winter and was a perfect site for skating.
Lu Xiang decided to build this house here because it was a peaceful and calm environment and the feeling of living beside the lake was often so surreal. The solemnity of the area always soothed Lu Xiang and was a great way of unburdening himself from all the stress of his life and the constant nagging he received from his father.
The only problem with living in such an area was its far distance from the city which was becoming a nuisance especially now that he had to go there so frequently.
By the time he was done with his meal, it was already almost 8 am, he had to get ready to go into town as he had a huge day planned out with Tang Jiang, his new business partner. He also had a get-together with his 'pals'.
So he got up and dragged himself slowly towards the bathroom to have a shower. He dressed up swiftly, grabbed his keys and sped off into the distance.
He felt a little sadness in his heart and pondered over the issue in his mind. Although he loved his lakeside house, he couldn't get over the feeling of loneliness which had ruled over him for so long. And he had to admit that living alone was often so boring and lonely.
Sometimes he wished he had someone to stay with at least once in a while. Someone who could make him laugh and who would listen to all his complaints about life, mostly about his over bearing father.
He shook his head to clear away such thoughts which often left him depressed.
It took nearly two hours to get to A city, and when he arrived, he was welcomed with the open arms of traffic, he sighed loudly to himself as he past through the traffic ever so eternally.
He met up with Tang Jiang at a cafe where they discussed the details of the business. They drove round town running some errands here and there. Then at about 5pm, Tang Jiang received a call from his friends telling him were at his house for a surprise visit but couldn't find him anywhere. So they had to rush over to his house to entertain the guest for an hour or so.
When they arrived at his house, he ordered the maids to prepare chicken noodle soup for his two friends and kept them company for a while.
Then Lu Xiang received a call from the investors and so they excused themselves. Tang Jiang did most of the talking and Lu Xiang observed quietly as he usually did.
At some point he lost interest and asked Tang Jiang to brief him about it later. He decided to take a stroll around the house which was actually a really large mansion. He followed a walk path situated between trees. This pleased Lu Xiang, he took a deep breath and smiled to himself. The path lead to the main gate and as he drew near, he heard the sound of a sweet melodious voice which crept into the deepest darkest parts of his heart and ignited a little torch. He followed the sound of the voice and glimpsed the sight of a girls high school skirt.
"Lu Xiang? Lu Xiang!"
Lu Xiang heard Tang Jiang calling his name and had to regretfully turn away from his slight distraction to answer him. Tang Jiang handed over the phone back to Lu Xiang and at that moment his dad called. A grimace appeared across Lu Xiang's face and he picked the call hesitantly.
As he spoke with his dad, Tang Jiang retreated back into the house.
"Lu Xiang, where the hell are you?"
The phone was silent for a while as his dad waited for an answer, and getting none, proceeded with;
"I've been calling all day and you have been ignoring my calls. Any ways I need you to come over tonight, there's an issue I'd like to discuss with you."
And with that, the phone went dead. If only his dad knew how much he irritated him, he wouldn't be wasting his time and saliva. But none the less, Lu Xiang still had to grace his father's request to go see him, he sighed heavily to himself and walked into the house.
He stood in the living room waiting patiently for Tang Jiang and at the same time scrolled through his phone. He heard the gentle sound of soft feet running down the stairs, and as he raised his head, his eyes locked with the most beautiful pair of golden brown eyes he had ever seen, and his breath caught in his throat, his heart beating heavily.
