When the clock strikes 11:00 am, Kaitlyn and her dad proceeded to exit the mansion and got on the carriage. It will take about an hour to we're the Crucibell family was staying, so Kaitlyn's dad brought with him some few documents he needs to sign.
The whole ride was quiet except the horse's hooves clopping and the carriages rustling sound.
Kaitlyn was looking outside while her dad was looking down signing papers. A period of time passed and Kaitlyn grew bored, she turned to look at her father who was busy reading some documents.
"Father," she called out.
"Yes dear?" Her father replied immediately.
"I was just wondering, do you perhaps feel that something is wrong with your body? Like do you feel any discomfort in your heart, lungs, stomach or anything?
"No, not at all. I went to check to see the doctor yesterday and he said I'm perfectly fine. Why are asking?"
"Nothing, I was just wondering," Kaitlyn's brows furrowed. She felt that something doesn't add up quite well with what her father said.
"Anything else you want to ask?"
"Do you smoke?"
"I have never even touched a cigarette dear. I am not even planning on touching one," her father was quite confused as to why his daughter was asking him about this weird questions.
Kaitlyn fell silent. Her father thought that she was probably done asking him questions so he decided to focus on her work again.
Kaitlyn on the other was thinking about what was the cause of Catherine's father's death.
In her memory, Catherine's father died of lung cancer. If he wasn't smoking then he probably has a terrible asthma, but the doctor said that he was perfectly fine. Maybe he started smoking a year later and that was the cause of his death. However, her father told her that he has no intention's of smoking nor touching a cigarette. It didn't really add up which made her a bit confused.
While she was in the middle of her thoughts, the carriage slowly halted in front of a big house or more like a mansion.
"Is this it?" Kaitlyn looked outside the window and was amazed by the view.
"Yes, this is the house I temporarily bought for them. We are only visiting them and tomorrow they will be living with us," her father explained to her while both of them walked together to the entrance of the building.
Kaitlyn has never seen such a beautiful house before but their mansion there in the MacQuin residence was more flawless then this. As expected of a rich family, even in her last life she has to do several part time jobs just to survive.
When they entered, several maid's lined up and greeted them, "Good afternoon Lord Melrich and lady Catherine," they said in unison.
They continued to walk until they reached the living room. Kaitlyn was in awe as she scanned the entire room.
'This living room is 10x bigger then my apartment'
They sat together on a sofa and waited for the Crucibell family. After a minute passed, a woman walked down the stares in a well poised manner. Looking at it, it may seem she is born a noble, but her features are average and her skin looks a bit rough and tanned.
"Good afternoon Lord Melrich. It's a pleasure to meet you again," the woman said in a sweet voice. She slightly bowed to him before kissing her father's cheek.
Kaitlyn saw how she acted and was disgusted, this woman clearly has a thick face, and looks like a typical entitled lady. Did she even noticed that she is here? At least greet her before getting intimate with her father! Dumb sl*t.
"Greetings to you too, Lady Catherine," she finally noticed her and patted her head. Ugh, her hands feel dirty. Nonetheless, she endured it and forced a sweet smile. She'll definitely take a shower later.
"Likewise, Lady Agatha."
After their brief introduction, they all sat on the sofa while drinking tea. Father and Agatha we're having a smooth conversation while Kaitlyn was sitting quietly by her father's side.
"Where's Jenneth and Livia?" Her father asked.
"Oh, they are both too shy to meet both of you. They are currently in the garden," Agatha sweetly replied. Her sweet voice made Kaitlyn a bit uncomfortable to hear.
"Catherine why don't you go and play with them? I bet they would be happy to see you," Agatha turned her head to Catherine.
Kaitlyn was silent for a moment before saying, "It's okay, Lady Agatha. I want to stay by my father's side too," she sat closer to her father's side pretending to be shy.
"Oh drop the formalities dear. We're gonna be a family in the future!" Agatha waved her hand seemingly flattered.
'Family my a*s. Let's see if you still have the audacity to say that in the future'
Noticing her tightly gripping on his sleeves, Melrich whispers to his daughter saying, "Calm down Catherine, relax a bit okay?" And flashed a small smile on her.
Kaitlyn almost forgot that she was gripping his father's sleeves just for her little act. She slowly loosened her hands and flashed a small yet shy smile to Agatha.
'Hmph. This woman get's on my nerve'
Kaitlyn silently grits her teeth.
