Jing Ling felt as if she was floating in space and as she looked around her, there was nothing but darkness.
"This damn old man, when I get out of here I am going to give him a piece of my mind. How could he just push me in here without saying anything else but relax."
Only after scolding Grandmaster Tian for another 5 minutes in her head did Jing Ling finally calm down. There was nothing she could do so she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath to free her mind of any thoughts. Immediately she felt as if an electric shock was going into her body through her meridian pathways. It was slightly uncomfortable at first but Jing Ling gradually became accustomed to the sensation.
She cracked her eyes open to peek at what was happening and she saw a steady stream of Qi slowly flow into her from all around. Jing Ling tried to follow its flow and found that it was passing through her veins in a clockwise motion until it finally headed towards the middle of her abdomen.
As the Qi neared her belly button, the milky substance was getting absorbed into a red marble-sized sphere that suspended itself in her lower dantian. She tries to touch the sphere but her hand just passes through the sphere as if it was just an illusion.
"What am I supposed to do now?"
Trying to follow the Grandmaster's advice, Jing Ling closes her eyes once more but this time, she tries to let her instincts guide her. She didn't even notice when she entered into a trance.
Time passed and just as Jing Ling was about to give up, she suddenly felt a voice calling out to her in her mind. As she tried to trace the origin of the voice, she felt like the voice was whispering to her from far away. But even though she knew someone was calling out to her, she couldn't hear what they were saying. However, the more Jing Ling concentrated, the clearer the voice got. It seemed like the voice was coming from the sphere and was drawing her in.
"Hmm... you wouldn't let me touch you earlier so why are you calling out to me now?"
After contemplating, Jing Ling notices that all the Qi was entering the red sphere at a specific point. But physical contact doesn't work...
"Argh, why is this so complicated."
Jing Ling quickly finds that the key point is the center of the sphere and she uses her mind to focus on that spot. Suddenly a white light flashes and Jing Ling is no longer surrounded by darkness but is standing on a grassy plain that stretches to the horizon.
"Lass, who are you? Why are are you disturbing my rest?" an old, hoarse voice asked.
A ghostly body appeared before Jing Ling, making her shake like a leaf.
"What a rude girl, acting like I'm some sort of monster. I won't harm you. Now answer my question."
"My name is Jing Ling, I am in the middle of testing my potential."
"I see... testing potential. I wonder how many centuries ago was it that I went through mine?"
"What about you? Why are you here?"
"My name is Song Xuegang, and here lies my resting place."
"Song Xuegang? You're the legendary Song Xuegang?"
"Legendary?"
"Yes, I'm from the Song Empire you established before your death. Till today people still speak of you and your achievements during your life. Even my dumb brothers told me your tale with a respectful and admiring gaze."
"I see. Tell me lass, how many years has passed since I left this world?
"I'm not sure myself but my brothers told me that it's been almost ten thousand years since you broke into god realm and established Song Empire."
"So ten thousand of years have already passed eh. Please, if you could, do you mind telling me what the world outside is like now?"
Jing Ling found herself in a pickle. "I just recently transmigrated to this world recently myself, there's nothing I can I tell you about since I don't know myself!" thought Jing Ling.
"Hm? Is something the matter? Why are you making such a funny face?"
"Well..." Jing Ling didn't know what to say.
To hell with this. This guy has been dead of ten thousand years already. Not like he's going to spring back to life all of a sudden and let everyone know...
"To tell you the truth, I'm not from your world."
"How could that be? You know of my name and said you're from my Song Empire but is not from my world? That's not very convincing."
"I know. I know. I have only been in your world for two or three days... I think. Before that I had another body and was in a different world."
"Hou... How intriguing."
"Yes, this is why I can't tell you about the current state of your world."
"Another world... too bad I was never able to experience traveling to another world."
"WHAT? Didn't you reach god realm? How could you not get to travel to another world? Wait, it's possible?!"
"What is?"
"Traveling between worlds?"
"Of course it's possible. However, it's impossible for anyone who hasn't entered god realm to even think about achieving such a feat. As for me... I... Never mind. Why don't you tell me about your world?"
The two spent a long time chatting with each other but most of the time it was just Jing Ling talking about her previous life while Song Xuegang nodding his head and giving her his full attention.
"Your world sounds like an amazing place lass."
Jing Ling found herself grateful to Song Xuegang for listening to her stories. She had not realized it before, but these past few days when she was hiding the fact that she wasn't "Jing Ling" from the Jing family had been weighing on her mind. Now that at least one person knows of her secret, she feels like she has been relieved from a burden.
Suddenly Song Xuegang's face turns solemn. "Our meeting must have been fate lass. Recently, I have grown tired of waiting here alone but my pride won't let me leave this world knowing that my life's work will have no successor. Now that you have shown up, how about it lass, would you like to inherit my legacy?"
Phew, this was a difficult chapter for me to write. I hope the imagery made sense! <3
