"Asrael?" Chyrsa finally managed. Her disposition was unusually confident, and it was likely because of the alcohol.
Asrael turned to her and only just realized that he was frowning. He noticed her concern and couldn't help it that he upturned his lips and raised his hand to pat her head reassuringly. "I have to go take care of something, I'll be back for you in a bit."
Chrysa seemed a bit too slow witted to respond.
Asrael wasn't in a hurry to get out of the room, and he glanced behind him to make sure he had a tail following closely behind. Quickly, he made his way through the party to find a secluded area. By now he was donning a playful smile.
He pushed open a door to a room, and the first thing that assaulted his eyes were a couple getting freaky. His smile froze as they screamed and he quickly slammed the door shut. Behind him, he heard a young girl snicker at his misfortune. Instead of turning around to face her, he continued on to check the next room.
Heaving a sigh of relief that it was empty, he walked inside. He didn't bother turning around when he heard the door close behind him, knowing who it was.
In the next second, Asrael heard the sound of a swift movement before feeling something sharp penetrate his skin and enter deep into his abdomen.
Blood trickled onto the floor, and Asrael huffed as he took hold of the small hand that gripped the hilt of the blade. With a tight squeeze to her wrist, she let go, and Asrael was able to pull the dagger out, splattering blood as he spun around and slashed towards her with it. She jumped back to dodge, but the swing still resulted in a gash on her cheek.
The two were at a standstill as blood continued to pour from Asraels wound. The girl's hood had fallen down, to reveal her freckled face. She raised her hand and used her thumb to wipe the blood that seeped from her cut.
When Asrael's wound finally closed up, he was the first to speak. "Did you have to do that? This is a new shirt."
"Not my problem." She shrugged. The cut on her face remained, and although it wasn't deep, it still spilt blood.
Asrael became indignant as he watched her let herself bleed. "I guess some things never change, huh, Little Red?"
"And how about you? Still pushing people to their breaking point?" She smiled derisively.
"I suppose you think I just love breaking people." Asrael sighed, suddenly feeling reminiscent. It was just then that he realized something after having taken a good look at her, 'was she the one in the portrait?' However, he quickly put it to the back of his mind, due to the situation.
"You're lucky all I did was stab you." Little Red turned her gaze to the dagger Asrael held, and after he noticed what she wanted, he unhesitantly tossed it over to her. Her movement was smooth, and she caught it by the hilt effortlessly.
"What did I ever do to you?" Asrael raised his eyebrows.
"You came to the party, and obviously you already knew about what the organization was doing." Her arm came upwards to grab her hood and she pulled it down sharply. Asrael found her action distasteful.
"How is it any of your business what I do?"
"It's my business because if I let you join, then the organization will have the upper hand. I can't have that." Before letting him tell her off, she looked him in the eye as if to threaten him, and spoke again. "We're leaving."
Asrael chuckled bitterly. "Can't. I have something I need to take care of."
"Oh yea? No worries, I'll take care of it for you. Does it have something to do with that pretty girl?" She looked calm as a bright smile came to her face, but there was a fire in her eyes that seemed to challenge him.
Asrael would have blown up by now if it wasn't for the fact that he wouldn't mind taking her up on her offer. "Actually… there is something you could do for me."
Little Red listened carefully to his next words, and as she did, her face fell. His demand wasn't overboard, but it entailed too much aftermath to clean up. He was reckless no doubt, and he probably assumed she would clean up after him.
"Just lure the girl with the short brown hair over, got it? I'll reward you if you do a good job."
"Asrael Nili, don't test me!" She flared up, adding a darker shade of red to her face.
"If we're using full names now, why don't you tell me what yours is?" Asrael wasn't bothered.
Little Red gashed her teeth and stormed out the door, slamming it violently behind her.
Honestly, with the amount of thought I put into both Asrael and Little Red, is Arius still even the main character?
