Chapitre 37: The Horrors of Two

Mordred

Slowly, the darkness gave way to an image. It was strange. It was cold. Unnaturally, freezing cold. I thought about how odd it was that I was just an immaterial mind, and as soon as the thought entered my mind, I found myself inside my own body. Or at least what I assumed was a mental construct of my body. I looked down, robes suddenly clothing me, and I saw that I was back in my old, human body.

"Weird," I muttered.

"Hello," said a voice. I whipped around, the scenery changing around me. I was back at the mage guild, the 25th Annex, with Dracoth sitting in Ash's chair.

"Why the-"

"Enjoy your freedom?" He sneered, "It won't last long."

"What do you want?" I asked, my mouth a grim line, "I need to get back to the physical world."

"You are not in control here."

"Why?" I said curtly.

"You. Are. WEAK!" I stood still for a moment, staring into Dracoth's burning eyes as black flames whirled up around me. They formed fiery chains, pulling me against the chair. I strained against them, but the more I struggled, the tighter the chains grew. Eventually, the chains were so tight that I couldn't even move.

With a sadistic grin, Dracoth looked at me. "Watch."

I could see what my body was doing now. The Hunter was gone, the door unlocked. I walked outside the cell feeling extremely surreal. I knew I was not in control anymore. I watched what happened from my chair. A passenger on a twisted ride. Unable to escape was the chains pull me tight.

And outside we went, glancing at everyone we passed. Inside our head, I heard Dracoth say, "Astaroth doesn't want to draw too much attention, but I need a warm up." With that, we stomped out of the capital.

Surrounding the capital, there was a couple of small farming villages. However, when we looked at them, all we felt was contempt. They were just targets in our eyes. And targets they were. Summoning a large fireball, we lobbed it towards the nearest building.

Laughing with maniacal glee, we sprinted through the town. Burning, killing, and destroying everything in sight. Flames engulfed the town. At first, I didn't want to do anything. I tried to take over again, to stop the carnage. But the chains kept me still, forcing me to watch. Bodies stacked up before me, all killed brutally and without mercy. It was burned into my mind. I screamed, begging for it to stop, but nothing. I was powerless. We killed a toddler, clutching a small toy, who stared at us in confusion. He didn't know what was going on. Not until we began taking him apart piece by piece did he realize fear. The fear of dying. A fear that we prolonged for as long as possible. The more he killed, the more anger I felt. I hung on to that rage, letting it build up inside me.

After the destruction of that entire town, I was let free from my prison. Dracoth stood before in all his twisted glory. The rage had reached a point of no return. I charged him, throwing caution to the wind. Dracoth didn't attempt to dodge, letting me knock him over.

I brought fist after fist down upon his face, but he was unfaced. My knuckles bled, black and purple and all I got was a "Finished?" I collapsed, the last of my strength long gone. Dracoth stood up, looking down on me.

"I like your fighting spirit."
