Chapitre 8: That Guy Called Keit
A gasped went out of her mouth when she realized she'd called the male's name. 'oh gosh. I wasn't supposed to know him.'
Meanwhile, the male called Keit had a surprised expression which turned into wariness.
"Do I know you?" "or not! I got it wrong!" they both said at the same time.
Devi quickly spoke that line and darted her eyes somewhere else feeling awkward. As for Keit, he still looked at her with suspicion. There was a deafening silence until he broke it.
"I think you know me…"
"I-I…. I need to go… P-please excuse me." Stuttering as the feeling of nervousness assaulted her. Devi scuttled on her feet but was stop when Keit called.
"Wait!" Devi stiffly stood. "uhh. Can I ask a favour?" He sheepishly started. "Can you give me directions to Building B?"
Devi looked at him confusedly. 'is he lost? The way to building B is opposite where he was going a moment ago. '
As if Keit thought of something.. "Ah! Here." and showed her his Certificate of Registration where the section, time and rooms of the subjects he enrolled were stated.
She took a look at where he's pointing. 'Economics 1' it says and it's the same section as hers.
Her brows furrowed and tried to remember if he was really in her class like in the past. In the end, she doesn't recall anything like that.
"You can follow. We're in the same class." She said with a faint smile still feeling awkward.
"Oh great! Thanks."
Both started walking with Devi leading and Keit following behind. They never spoke again as thoughts from the past about Keit flooded her mind.
Keit or Keitrick Nilo, a guy who has a look of a boy next door, a six footer with broad shoulders and have a beautiful smooth voice.
He's a late 3rd year transferee student.
Devi doesn't remember much about him but she knows 2 big things about him.
The first is that he's… gay.
It was rumoured that on the Halloween Party a senior have thrown, the drunk Keit announced that he have been deceiving everyone especially the girl he was dating at that time because he is a homosexual.
Devi didn't know what has happened after that but she could guess that not all welcomed the new him.
When Devi heard the rumour, she didn't feel disgust or anything. But when she saw how Keit calmly handled the situation, she developed respect for Keit.
She thought that to be able to come out like that and held his head up like it was nothing after that announcement needed a huge amount of courage and the strength to face it all. And she applauds him for that.
This would happen after 2 months or so.
The 2nd is that Keitrick Nilo is a dubber.
Devi remembers going to the music room area to practice piano. It was an area in the school where you can rent or reserve a studio to practice, and there are 10 rooms.
When Devi passed to one of the rooms, she heard a familiar voice and her heart fluttered. She can't help but peek through the slightly opened door and saw Keit speak the same way as the guy who was speaking on her right earphone.
It was the same words and the same smooth voice, her Idol, the dubber 'Keit'.
That day, dubber 'Keit' was on live, singing to them and talking with that voice that could swoon girls. Keit didn't disclose his personal life to his listeners unlike other dubbers, thus having a mysterious background that made others love him more.
But this… this shocked Devi to the core. She discovered the real identity of her Idol but she can't share it to anyone as she doesn't have a friend. She kept it to herself and continued to admire Keit as her idol.
Now, she even got this close to her idol that she uttered his name. 'stupid devi.' She blamed herself but she didn't know that her eyes were emitting glee at the same time.
When the two arrived inside the classroom, the seats in the back and middle are already occupied. Devi sighed and went in one of the seats in front while Keit still followed her and sat beside her.
Devi had a look of surprise when she saw Keit sat next to her and wanted to say something but the Professor already walked in.
The professor noticed Keit and looked at him with doubt. "New student?"
"Yes, sir."
"Introduce yourself." The students looked at our direction and Keit stood up to face them. "Hi. Keitrick Nilo is the name…uh.. Nice to meet you all." He sat back down after that short introduction and then turned to smile at Devi when he saw her staring at him intently.
Devi focused back on her book after that smile, a tinge of red showed on her cheeks from the smile her idol has given her.
