Chapitre 7: Chapter 7: Watchman's Rules II

While looking at her written diary logs for the past few days, she soon stopped on a certain page before reading it out softly.

"It has been two days since I have returned to the past. Everything that happened these past few days was exactly the same, if I don't do anything then I won't be able to prevent the disaster that ruined my life."

After reading and reaching that point, she soon skipped the following words before continuing to the specific part that she had been searching for.

"It has been three days since I have returned to the past. There is something wrong. I have heard the maids gossiping about the heir of the Ravenmoon being on bad terms with the ninth princess. I don't think I have done anything to affect him to make such a huge change. If I remember correctly, then he should have also been safe during the uprising as he had taken a leading role in the army and was also well on his way to becoming the head of the Ravenmoons and…."

After thinking about it a couple more times, she then tilted her head to the side and continued with her monologue.

"I don't know much about what happened during the civil war so I think he must have at least a layer of protection on him because Ravenmoons were at their height at the time. Maybe he also went back in time, just like I did? I also heard my father mention that sir Herbert and his caravan would be passing through the territory to return to the north. The changes in his actions are far too strange, does he also know that I returned back in time? Should I make contact with him? If he really is like me and still remembers, then I could use him…"

When she had read out the last line, she soon closed the book and placed it back in its previous position.

"He's really coming here. At this point, I can practically confirm that his actions are making a big derivation from what he was supposed to do originally. During these past few days, I have been lying low and shouldn't have attracted his attention. But if he's coming here, then he might also be after that thing. It's a good thing that I already took it once I noticed that there had been great changes in this timeline, if he really came here to get that then maybe I can use it as bait to make a deal."

After shaking her head to the side, she denied her previous statement as she thought about how shallow her current plans were.

"If I were to make use of him, then I have to thoroughly be in control…."

As she sat there contemplating how she should move from now on, a loud knock soon echoed by the door.

"Ingrid! Ingrid? Ingrid. Ingrid, hurry up and open the door. I know you're there."

A high-pitched voice called out to her from beyond the door, her knocks did not stop as she continued to call out her name

Eventually, the black-haired beauty soon opened the lock on the door, and a red-haired woman that appeared to be the same age as hers appeared. She had inherited the looks of her father and the curly hair of her mother. Purely in terms of their raw beauty, the black-haired Ingrid would win nine out of ten times. Perhaps that had given her a sense of inferiority which made the red-haired lady put on a tad bit too much cosmetics.

"Father has asked for everyone's presence for the dinner tonight. Sir Herbert, the heir of the Ravenmoon duchy will be coming so make sure to get dressed. Let me in, I will choose what clothes you can wear."

Although her words appear to be of concern, the way she said them made one feel irritated and annoyed. However, Ingrid Rozenblood merely smiled warmly at her cousin who continued to spout off things from her dirty, powder-covered, little mouth. As Helene went inside Ingrid's room, she then opened her wardrobe. When she saw Ingrid's current options, she smiled as a brilliant idea popped into her head.

"Dear Ingrid, your clothes are all too old. Don't you have any new ones?"

As she said this out of spite, she tried to goad her into doing her bidding. Naturally, Ingrid had long seen through her. This has already happened to her far too many times for her to be bothered by it now.

"Don't say that, Helene. Didn't you give these to me last time because we had to attend the ball?"

"Did I? Anyway, I'm going to ask a servant to fetch you a better dress. Make sure to wear them for tonight."

"Thank you, sister Helene."

"No, it's only the right thing for me to do. After all, we're your only family left. If I don't do this then who will do it for you? Anyway, we have to look good for tonight. I heard Sir Herbert is still without a formal fiance and the ninth princess which was a previous candidate for it is currently on bad terms with him."

Ingrid continued to smile warmly at her while she coldly stared at Helene's foolish attempt to coax her. She was no longer the same naive young girl that she was all those years ago. She now understood that the cousin that she had considered her sister was just another jealous brat. All those years, she had believed in her words and wore the dresses that she had given her. Only when she had become older did she overhear her talking behind her back saying that she had always treated her as nothing but a dog who wags her tail and follows whatever she orders her to do.

After the two had finished talking, Helene soon left and a servant carrying a dress replaced her. Once Ingrid was all alone again in her room, she coldly appraised the dress that she had been given. With one look, she instantly understood the intentions that her sister had when she gave her this kind of clothing.

Originally, most of Ingrid's clothes were more of the conservative type and she had been always secretly ridiculed as a prude but that was similar to how the ninth princess dressed, and Helene who noticed it soon gave her a more revealing outfit. Of course, it wasn't anything that can't be revealed publicly, if she had overdone it then her father would notice, that was something that she did not want either. Helene would probably wear something that strikes the perfect balance and will try to attract the attention of Sir Herbert.

Ingrid no longer said anything and soon cleaned herself up and wore the dress that she was given. As she finished, she swore in her heart that she would definitely take her revenge and tonight would be her first show of rebellion.

As the sun started to set, the day soon turned into night. Lights sprang up and brightly covered the Rozenblood's manor as if to welcome the cold wind blowing from the north into a warm embrace. The carriage with the emblem of a Raven on a Crescent Moon majestically entered the huge iron gates of the Rozenblood's manor. When it arrived at the entrance, the young man with silver-white hair smiled as he gently alighted the carriage with majesty and grace. Receiving him were Duke Cloven Rozenblood and his family. From his right stood his wife and to his left were his three sons, and two daughters, while on the corner near the outskirts was Ingrid.

After a round of greetings and pleasantries, Herbert was soon invited in to rest. Once the servant had notified them of dinner, they soon moved to the room next door where a table of dishes was served. On the far end of the table was where Cloven sat as the patriarch of the family. To his right was where his wife and concubines sat while Herbert got to sit to his left as a privilege of being a distinguished guest. Sitting next to Herbert was Helene and her sister followed by Ingrid while Duke Rozenblood's sons were scattered on the different sides of the table.

After having a casual conversation with him, Duke Cloven was feeling a little relieved. Herbert wasn't like what the rumors make him out to be, he wasn't as arrogant nor was he hard to deal with. Although he still didn't know what Herbert intends to do during his stay in his territory, as long as he does not intend to do anything reckless then he would willingly let it slide.

Seeing that her father no longer intends to rattle him out to know the details of his reason for traveling to their territory, Helene started to make her move.
