William arrived at their house.
Not too long after he finished his conversation with Mia, he drove his car and went home. He knew his sister is worried about him. Once he stepped out of his car and parked it, he saw his sister standing in front of their door waiting. He was surprised as it was already late.
He remembered those times when her sister waited for him to come out from primary school.
She would always stand at the front, waiting patiently with a smile. She would always welcome him with a smile, but this time his sister's face was filled with worry.
Stephanie started dashing towards William's vehicle once she saw William stepping out from his car.
On the other hand, William did not know what to do, and he did not know what to expect, but it did not take long before he felt the warm embrace of his sister.
His sister did not say anything.
She did not nag at him for not answering her calls.
She did not reproach him but instead, she just hugged him in silence.
This actually made William more worried. His sister who was always vocal, who was always good with words, who was always able to retort with whatever you throw at her was now completely silent.
Therefore, he waited for his sister. He waited for his sister's next action by standing still.
He prepared himself to accept any kind of beating to make his sister feel better.
But afterwards he felt his sister's shoulder trembling.
He thought his sister had started to cry.
"I'm sorry," William said. He really was sorry to make them worry. But his sister still did not respond to his words.
"I promise I won't do it again. So please don't cry." William said once more, this time he put her hands on his sisters head trying to pat it. It looked weird as he was the younger brother, but he wanted to console his sister, and due to the difference in their height, he thought this was the best way.
His sister's trembling suddenly became more prominent. This, in turn, made William more worried.
He did not know what else he could do or what he should say. He was about to say something else when he felt his sister moving. He faced his sister's head on with a complicated face.
His sister's hand suddenly snaked towards his face and pull his cheeks farther and farther away, making them look like stretched dough.
"Swistwer?" William asked. His saliva almost dripped down from the side due to his face being stretched.
"You unfilial child. Just try to do this again in the future. Just see what's coming to you." Stephanie started to add more strength to her hands as she stretched further, she stretched until she could not stretch them any further.
"Ehm sowwee. Ehm went dough yet aghen." William said. He tried his best but this time some saliva dripped out from the side of his mouth.
Stephanie furrowed her brows and let go when some of William's saliva got on her. Her words seemed as though she was mad, but her face was saying a different thing.
William held his cheeks with both hands as it was painful. It reddened to a point which made him look like a rosy cheeked newborn baby. He wanted to say something to defend himself. But in the end, he swallowed his words. It was because his sister's eyes were red and swollen. If you listen carefully, she was sniffling. It looked like she cried while she was waiting. He could only observe her sister for a while as she turned her back towards him and walked away.
"You should eat before you rest. I've prepared some food. I'll for reheat them for you." Her sister's voice could be heard even though she was walking away.
William smiled to himself while holding his cheeks.
He then looked at the stars.
He stood there for a bit.
The cold air swept his face which made him blink.
Once he opened his eyes, he saw a falling star.
He blinked a couple more times and swore it was truly a falling star.
He silently made a wish in his heart before following his sister to their house.
He sure was blessed.
Those were the thoughts he had in his heart while he walked.
