Once Mia stepped into their house she went straight to her room and closed the door. She could not be bothered with anything she was like a woman possessed when one saw a 50% discount on shoes and bags.
That's how she looked like right now.
She went straight for her closet and with a "swoosh" and opened the doors. Standing in front of her clothes, she had a worried look on her face, she did not have anything she could wear for a date.
...
Going back a couple of minutes inside William's car.
Mia was not able to register the first question William asked when he invited her for a date. She was pre-occupied with the mystery woman who went to the shop.
She replied with a "hmm" while thinking.
Date.
Date..
Date...
The word stuck to her head like glue as she repeated the word like a broken record. She agreed to a date without realizing it. She was asking about the actions of the woman and putting the two together with the help of William's answers. She felt her body start to sweat as she realized her predicament.
"I am not prepared for a date." She had this internal struggle.
Shoes, clothes, make-up, bag.
What was she supposed to do?
It's too late to buy anything as the date was set tomorrow. They have not made any prior plans so she did not know what clothes would be appropriate for where they were about to go.
Standing in front of her closet, she looked at the jeans, jeans and some more jeans.
She felt defeated as she holds tightly to one of the pant leg of her jeans.
"What should I do?" Mia asked herself out loud.
The other options are my work clothes. She looked at the formal clothes she had which had an array of colors from black to grey.
"They're too dark for a date, right?" She asked Happy who was sitting beside her while scratching her scruff. She found her only salvation was her loyal dog.
"Arf." The dog replied full of vigor as it continued with its scratching.
"Ugh. What to do?"
"Should I ask my mother? No, calm down Mia…"
She tried to breathe in and out to calm herself to no avail. She looked around her room, trying to figure something out on her own.
At the corner of her drawer, she found her phone.
With a sudden glint in her eyes, she picked it up and looked through her contacts. She could only ask one person for help.
Sfx *ring ring*
A couple of rings and someone picked up. "Hey what's up?" A cheerful voice was heard at the end of the other line.
"I need your help," Mia said in defeat. You could hear the pleading tone of her voice.
"What's wrong?" Asked the person full of concern.
Mia gave a sigh of relief. She knew if there was one person she could ask it was her. "I was invited by William on a date but I don't have anything to wear. Can you help me?"
"Hehe… So you need this fairy godmother to grant your wish?" She chuckled as she asked this question.
Mia answered in a soft voice, "yes."
"As you wish my dear. Meet me at the city mall in an hour. It's only six so we have plenty of time. I'll be there in 30 minutes." The other person hung up.
Mia was finally able to relax her shoulders, she was relieved. She took her purse and phone and went out of her room.
"Mom I'm going out to the mall with a friend for a bit," Mia said before stepping out of the door.
"Have fun!" Her mother said happily while looking at the excited face of her daughter as she left the house.
"Finally my daughter is starting to go out with friends." Mia's mom looked with a loving gaze as her daughter started to spread her wings and live her life more.
Mia went to the bus stop that was headed for the city mall. She sat down near a window seat. There weren't a lot of people on the bus at this hour. Only a few kids and office workers commuting using the bus, most people preferred to use the train station. Mia wasn't very fond of the trains as it was always crowded with people. She was never fond of crowded places to begin with.
She looked out of the window filled with excitement. This was the first time she ever thought that she had to prepare because of someone. She had always wondered why other girls take too much time on their appearance just for a boy but now she finally understood it, even if it was just a little.
Little by little she had started to change.
