[Williams point of view]
I got home while skipping happily and with a merry heart. Once I reach the front gates, I could see my sister with a scowling look heading towards me.
"What are you so happy about?" Stephanie asked.
"My friend invited me to her birthday party," I said full of excitement.
"Huh, I see," she said indifferently.
She was about to continue her steps when she suddenly stopped then turn back at me and said, "Hey, bring me along."
Since Mia said I could bring a friend, I thought it was okay to bring along my sister. I didn't know what her motives were, but more people would make the party livelier.
So I said, "Sure, we need to be there at 10 am."
I tried to pick the best clothes I had, but unfortunately, they all look the same as they were bought in bulk by father when we got here.
My sister and I have shared the same kind of clothes. I wore black Capri shorts and a blue collared shirt. My sister was wearing the same style as me but with a different color.
She was half a head taller than me, so the clothes fit her better, unlike me, in which case they look baggy.
I carefully carried my gift for Mia, which was a box covered with light pink gift wrap with a lace on top.
We then followed the instructions Mia gave. Her house was only 15 minutes away from our house, and it was just one street corner away.
We passed by the same route we always take to school, but before we reach the vicinity, we had to turn right. As we stood in front of their door, I started to panic and my hands began to sweat.
This was my first time visiting a friend's house, so I didn't know what to expect. My sister just standing quietly beside me and give me eye signal to knock on the door. I was lucky that I brought her with me or I might have turned back in panic.
Sfx *knock knock knock*
As soon as I knocked three times, light footsteps could be heard, and a moment later Mia opened the door. As per usual, she was wearing her favorite attire.
The only difference was her hairstyle was styled like pigtails. She looked adorable as she was beaming with a smile when she saw it was me at the door.
"Hello, Happy Birthday Mia." I tried to calm my heart and say these words which I practiced last night.
I gave her my gift, slightly blushing while doing so. Her smile seemed to shine and dazzle me more as she received my gift.
We were just standing at the front when I suddenly heard a cough beside me.
"AH!!" I cried as it startled me.
I totally forgot that my sister was with me so I introduced her to Mia. "This is my sister, Stephanie. I brought her with me since you said it was fine to bring a friend. I hope you're not mad or anything," I said while looking down and fidgeting my feet.
Mia looked at my sister and her dewy wide eyes seemed perplexed when I said, sister.
She then said, "Thank you for coming. Come in."
She led the way and stopped in front of the kitchen. There was a lady preparing food on the counter.
"Mother, my friends are here," Mia said to her mother. She then placed her gift on the table beside 2 more gifts.
"Hello there. Oh my, what an adorable handsome little boy." I was not surprised when Mia's mother was looking at my sister when she said that.
I wanted to laugh out loud but trying my best to hold it. I didn't try to correct her when she mistook Stephanie's gender.
My sister's eyebrows were wiggling but it seems she is showing a proper conduct as she tried to suppressed her anger. She still had the same smile plastered on her face.
"That's Stephanie and this here is William," Mia said so while she was standing beside me.
"Oh ho ho, so you're William." Her mother's eyes were glistening while looking at me.
I don't know what Mia was telling her parents and how they thought of me, but her look was more of curiosity rather annoyance or anger.
Mia might have told her that I ate all of her prepared lunches, so I started to look at the floor again while thinking so.
However, her next words surprised me.
"You can just call me Aunty or Mom if you want." Her face was smiling when she said that.
When I heard it, I was blushing until I felt my face and ears turning hot.
"Mom, we are going to my room to play," Mia said while grabbing my hand and walk away from the kitchen.
Her mom looking at us walked away and said, "Sure, but don't eat too many sweets and candies. The food will be ready in 2 hours."
I thought her mother was very kind, unlike my father who was selfishly doing things on his own pace.
While Mia was pulling me and my sister towards her room, I was able to look around their house. It was a simple house, but what surprised me was that we are the only visitors.
I thought that since this was a birthday, there would be more people. But it was just me and my sister.
We arrived in front of a door, and there were was a board hung up saying Mia's room. As we went inside, the room was covered in pastel colors, there were some cute animal stuff toys on the bed and some dolls on the corner table.
I sighed in relief when I saw this since it meant my choice was not wrong.
