Chapitre 11: New Arc: THE HUNTER AND THE HUNTED
"Ugh... " Arthur groaned and opened his eyes
"I know this place, this is my room... " Arthur walked around his room while multiple thoughts flooded his mind
"Was it all a dream..... " Arthur stood there motion less, he was at a loss of words.
Feeling his head burning up, Arthur decided to wash his face first.
*splash* 'was it really all just a dream?... it all felt too real.' *splash* 'Should I be happy that i escaped that hellish forest...? ' *splash* The cool sensation of water was clearing up his mind, 'What about Tom? did he survived?.. '
Then Arthur realized somethin, 'Why is it so quiet..? where is my family? ' Arthur lift up his head to look at the mirror but.....
He saw his own face, but his eyes were missing!!! His eye sockets were empty and dark.
Arthur woke up in jerk startling Tom who was sitting besides him
"Huuuh... Haaah" Arthur gasped for air
"Are you ok? " Tom asked in concern while passing Arthur a water bottle
Arthur inhaled deeply and replied, "I am alright, just a nightmare" Arthur took the water bottle and started chugging it in
"Man you were asleep for 3 days! I thought it was over you! " Tom spoke out his concern
"Thank you for your kind words" Arthur replied in slight annoyance, it was just now that Arthur notice that the place they were staying resembled a cave. "Where are we? " he asked
"You won't believe me even when I told! " Tom replied in dramatic suspense
"What? " Arthur was bewildered, 'Did we make it out of the forest! ' Arthur hurriedly ran towards the entrance of the cave while Tom was following behind shouting "Hey! you should rest a little more! "
Arthur took his first step outside of the cave and the blinding sunlight overtook his senses, all he could see was white even when he closed his eyes
After a while, his senses returned back and he could finally see what was in front of him. Arthur was put in a trance by what he saw.
A massive lake shimmering with golden lights with two humongous mountains on the background filled with exotic plant lives, "Magical" was the perfect word to describe its beauty .
Arthur quickly got back from the trance and asked the most important question in his mind. "Are there any human civilization near this lake? "
Tom scratched his head a little and replied "Umm... No.. ".
Arthur got a bit angry " Don't tell the *amazing thing* you were talking about is this scenery!? We are not in a situation to be marveling over mother nature's beauty! " Arthur was rightfully angry, his risked his life to delay the wolves chasing them and this idiot was marveling and enjoying views.
"What do you mean scenery? I am talking about that holy lake! " Tom responded , feeling a little wronged
"wha-" Arthur words were cut short by the encyclopedia window popping up .
*Holy lake, a sanctuary for weary travellers, it's a rare lake that has the holy light attribute which can drive demons away. The chances of monsters attacking near the holy lake is extremely rare. *
Hearing the information, Arthur was ashamed that he got angry over Tom without even knowing the circumstances .
"I am sorry Tom, I-" Arthur's words was cut short again by Tom who was lightly patting Arthur's shoulder.
"It's alright, no need to apologize, you are my savior after all" The Auburn hair male grinned
which caused Arthur to smile too
"Let's explore the lake then! " Tom enthusiastically shouted while pulling up his sleeves, he finally got his clothes back and he was wearing them above his mummy bandages, although his clothes were riddled with holes.
Seeing that, Arthur bought some clothes from the system shop and made it look like he pull them out from his pant's pockets
"Take this" Arthur handed the clothes to a dumbfounded Tom
"A sword and now a pair of clothes, ever heard of the word called bag? " Tom joked around but at this point he knew that Arthur was carrying some short of storage ring but he didn't asked any further
Outside the cave, both of them were walking on the sand while the golden waves gently crash on the shore creating a soothing harmony
" I never knew such a place existed here inside this forest " Arthur said while looking at the glimmering lakes, the gentle winds caressing his long hair.
"Right? this place is wonderful and according to the map, the nearest town in just 10 days away! " Tom excitedly said
"Really!!!? Then let's start going already!" Arthur was delighted, he could finally escape this forest!
"Ez there champ" Tom smiled while looking at Arthur, "We will recuperate here for a few days first, we don't want you to fight monsters in your current state now do we? "
Arthur was hesitant but he still decided to rest first, he knows that fighting in his current state was extremely dangerous.
Seeing Arthur's silence, Tom smiled and they continued their walk
The air was filled with fragrance of flowers until Arthur picked up something weird, he looked towards Tom and Tom looked back.
"Smell of human blood" Tom replied in a weird manner.
"Human!? " Arthur asked, "Yes.. " Tom elaborated. " The smell of beast blood are more potent than human blood. "
"We should go save them immediately! " Arthur said while running off into the forest
"Wait Arthur! " Tom quickly followed behind and shouted " but your health ! "
"Now's not the time Tom! " Arthur shouted and and quickened his pace feeling a bit drowsy.
Tom quickly overtake Arthur and replied " Fine! but you should promise me to always stay behind my back at all times! and run away immediately towards the lake if a strong monster appears no matter what! " Tom sternly said
" Tom you-" Arthur was shocked
"Don't worry I won't die that easily, you are essentially my little brother so shouldn't I protect you at least? " Tom gave a thumbs up while grinning like a fool.
Hearing Tom's sentence Arthur halted his steps which prompted Tom to ask " what happened Arthur? "
"Maybe we shouldn't go... it isn't worth the danger.. " Arthur replied in a low voice.
Hearing Arthur's concern, Tom smiled and felt warm inside his heart.
"You can go back, I will surely come back unscathed so you don't have to worry about me! " Tom smiled
"That's not the point" Arthur interjected
Tom smiled gently and turned his back towards Arthur, he replied
"I don't remember much about myself but I can say this with confidence that I am a brave and righteous man, I can't just stay still when someone needs my help... I can't betray myself Arthur, please forgive my selfishness "
"Then let's get going! " Arthur smiled and patted Tom's shoulder.
Tom smiled " Sure! but don't forget our promise! " Tom reminded
"Sure but let's not waste anymore time! " saying that Arthur sped off towards the forest
"Oi ! Did you even hear what I said? " exasperated, Tom quickly followed behind
