Chapitre 156: Chapter 31

As Haruhine saw William's form being enveloped by the breath attack.

Her mind went blank.

Like a piece of glass breaking into countless pieces, her heart broke.

Making contact with water, her body helplessly drowned into it, showing no sign of struggle.

The water seeping inside her body, trying to suffocate her was unable to take away this pain she was feeling.

'What was the point?.....'

She wondered.

'Of those struggles?...'

Those days she spent risking her life in dungeon.

'When yet again, I am faced with this reality?...'

Pointless.

Everything she had was pointless.

Those countless hours, days, months were but a waste.

When she failed to save her Hero once again.

Her efforts.

Her determination.

Proved to be worthless.

It seemed even after all this time.

At the core of it all.

She was still a helpless person who needed a Hero to save her.

Pointless.

Wasted.

Useless.

Worthless.

It would be better to just end her life at this point and be done with it.

Her consciousness started blurring as the sea water rushed through her lungs.

It was then.

A giant hand suddenly grabbed her and started pulling her up at an incredible speed.

Eldest Lackey.

She saw through her blurry vision.

That giant pervert of a man, pulling not only her but also God Soma who was holding onto his neck.

And he wasn't alone.

Moving her eyes, she saw other members of her familia, quickly swimming up, helping each other, not leaving anyone behind whether he be injured or unable to swim.

In no time Eldest Lackey managed to get them above water.

And there she saw it.

Their faces.

Which unlike her, were even now filled with hope, an undying will to not give up, to keep moving forward.

'Ah it's because they don't know.....'

Haruhime thought.

They didn't saw the scene of William being engulfed by that extremely concentrated beam of heat.

Just by merely being near it, more than half her clothes were directly burned, not to mention touching it.

And she saw with her own eyes William taking the hit from that attack head on.

Turning her head she looked up.

The calamity was still up there flying around in a carefree manner, circling the area, as if playing with them.

Not even trying to attack them, as it they were unworthy.

"Hey Haruhime stop daydreaming and start swimming, how long do I have to keep holding you?", Eldest Lackey said in an annoyed voice.

Hearing his tone, something inside Haruhine seemed to snap.

"What do you even know?!"

Her sudden voice started Eldest Lackey.

"It's always the same."

Tears rolled down her eyes.

"I'm always the same."

She punched the water creating a splash.

"Every...single...time."

Eldest Lackey gave her a weird look.

"The hell are you talking about?"

He looked at her as if seeing a crazy person.

Seeing his reaction, Haruhine gritted her teeth before shouting at the top of her lungs.

"William is dead!, he died because of me"

Her voice broke down mid way.

Hearing her Eldest Lackey raised his brow.

But just before he was about to say something.

"You're wrong."

A familiar voice from above caught their attention.

God Soma.

He was still looking deeply at the sea, not moving his gaze away even for a second.

"God Soma I-----"

Haruhine tried to talk.

"My child William."

But was stopped mid-way.

"Is still alive."

By his shocking words, filled with conviction.

"I can feel it."

God Soma parted his wet bangs, revealing a pair of dull looking eyes.

"My blessing still burns as strong as ever."

For a moment Haruhine forgot her despair, and hurriedly started looking around the sea.

Although it sounded absurd, but coming from God Soma it must be true.

--------------------

At the bottom of the ocean.

Layed William with half of his body gone.

And even now the flame energy kept burning the other half of his body.

Skill *[Regeneration](B)* is taking effect.

His skill kept working at full swing.

Skill *[Regeneration](B)* is taking effect.

Alas the level of energy it was fighting against was way out of its league.

'I barely managed to save him at the last moment.'

Grant said to the figure in complete white.

Just before the breath attack hit William, Grant created a barrier, barely managing to him by a hair's breath.

'Can you do something about the flame energy?'

'I am already trying my best.'

Grant showed his right hand which was covered in cracks.

But the destructive power slowly destroying William seem to show no sign of slowing down.

While Grant's forehead was covered in sweat, William opened his eyes.

"You are awake.'

Grant sighed in relief.

'Quickly channel you're sword energy and get rid of the flame.'

William looked down and saw that most of the left half of his body was gone, including his heart, was gone.

Currently he was only alive because of Grant's magic.

But it was only delaying the inevitable.

Instead of extinguishing the flame, William closed his eyes.

It was pointless.

Even if he got rid of the flame energy, his skill was not powerful enough to regenerate a lost heart.

Grant knew it as well, that's why he also fell silent.

After some time.

"I am not afraid of death."

William muttered.

He has already died once.

"So if this is the end........"

As if making up his mind.

Since there is no longer a reason to hold back.

"Then let me use everything I have."

For once he will go all out.

-------------------------------

"So God Soma....."

Eldest Lackey said with a monotonous voice.

"How long do you plan to keep sitting on my head?"

God Soma didn't reply, he was too busy sensing William's blessing.

"...My neck hurts you know....."

"Shut up."

"Yes sir!"

God Soma's face turned serious.

"He's coming."

Then under their very eyes.

The sea parted.

It gave way for the swordsman standing at the bottom.

Haruhine's eyes shook, seeing the familiar figure standing at the bottom of the sea.

William was alive.

But before she could celebrate.

*Roar*

A terrifyingly familiar roar caught their attention.

High up in the sky.

The strongest of the three great calamities, One-Eyed-Black-Dragon stood in place staring straight at them.

Haruhine felt her heartbeat drop seeing the dragon once again preparing its breath attack.

Her head quickly turned to William.

But seeing his miserable state, tears of blood couldn't help but flow out.

Most of all.

There was no longer a sword.

William no longer had one.

She hurriedly searched for her rapier, unfortunately it was no longer wither her.

Perhaps the monster knew it as well?

That's why he was charging his attack so carefreely?

It was then.

"You seem to be mistaken monster."

William's voice rang out.

"I don't need a sword to attack."

Saying so he raised his right hand.

And as if on queue.

*Roar*

OEBD fired his breath attack.

And as the beam of blinding white light approached him.

William said in a voice plainer than usual.

"Divine sword........"

Swiping his hand down.

"Soma."

Parting the breath attack in two, going straight for the dragon up above.

Seeing the ray of invisible sword energy approaching him, cutting right through his strongest attack, the black dragon felt an unprecedented sense of crises.

Almost instinctively, the monster used his claw to defend against the invisible death.

*Slice*

Without any sound, without any trace, One-Eyed-Black-Dragon's claw was cleanly separated from his body.

But.

It's life was unharmed.

It managed to save itself at the cost of a claw.

Unfortunately.

William never said he was only going to attack once.

"Divine Sword Soma."

With a clean strike, one of the three great calamities, One-Eyed-Black-Dragon, was bisected in two.

Seeing his enemy dead, William didn't feel anything.

As if it was within his expectations.

After all he knew.

The full power of Sword Emperor.

Was not something One-Eyed-Black-Dragon was able to handle.

And.....

The same goes for him.

William looked at the cracks forming on what's left of his body.

It was the reason he avoided using his full power till the end.

Feeling strength leave his body, William's vision grew blurry and his hearing grew distant.

"....Don't.....levae.....m.....again....p..lease....."

He heard several familiar voices shouting around him, before he lost consciousness.

"God Soma the potion of life is not working."

Haruhine shouted in a hurried voice while holding onto William's cracking body.

The power which could bring the dead back to life seemed useless.

"God Soma!", She shouted in desperation.

Then suddenly a hand tightly gripped her shoulder.

"Haruhime."

God Soma came beside her, silently staring at William's cracking body.

"I will not allow him to die in front of me."

There was a deep seethed madness in his eyes.

"Go and bring the dragon's heart."
