Good idea but practically its not that easy. sure you could encase the DU core with lighter material that falls off basically making a SABOT, the range would be decreased because of its heavy density its penetrating power would be increased. Also the wear and tear on the barrel would be greater leading to higher chances of an internal explosion and breakage of barrels an alternative would be coil guns or rail guns but they need a nuclear reactor to fire

That was mainly me trying to say excess energy was being shot out of the top and bottom of the cubes, Now that I look at the paragraph, yeah it doesn't make sense sorry for the poor quality
Two beams shot up from the cubes north and south as they came closer and closer. The beams begun rotating like a neutron star in that episode of star blazers 2199 increasing in power as anything the beams touched was vaporized. The cubes were now spinning faster and faster until …merging complete… in a flash of light brighter than the sun the cubes were one and in their wake was a wave of highly concentrated exotic energy like tachyons that travelled in a wave like motion in every direction. The whole cube was not damaged and it didn't have cracks anymore.

that hull armour is thicker than even the average Yamato class so you couldn't pen that belt unless you have a Sastuma with 20.1 inch shells
The pain was caused from the ramming as its skull caved in on itself. The Yamato wasn't said to be unsinkable, through artillery fire, for nothing. Its armour around the hull is 25 inches thick and since its made out of steel, it is durable and thus whenever the meg rammed the battleship, it was it being hurt rather than the other way around as from all its ramming there some dents here and there caused by the weakness of how the armour was built but overall it was fine.
