I love callbacks to big ideas in the story like this
It made sense, in hindsight. The vile madman had spent hundreds of years in the Tomb of Ariel, and while many paths to advancing his power were not available there, one path remained wide open — because it depended on nothing and no one except Sunny himself.

At the rate nephis takes down creatures as a saint, sacrificing a core doesn’t seem as detrimental as it would have been.
The bloodiest and most fearsome flashpoint was where Nephis and the Fire Keepers fought. White flames were rolling like waves, and entire swathes of the jungle were obliterated, the corpses of the abominations teeming in the scarlet undergrowth turning to ash.

First time giving a review to a book but i wanted to say a few things about this book that really enjoy. The first is that for such a long novel the pacing feels really good in almost every part of the story. There’s only one volume so far that the pacing felt a little slow towards the end of the arc, but other than that i find myself enjoying the rate that the story progresses a lot. Another aspect of the story that i’ve thoroughly enjoyed is the romance sublot. If you’ve heard anyone say that the romance is a slow burn they’re definitely correct; however the buildup is definitely worth it. A final aspect I think i like the most is the world building. When it comes to reading fiction, I tend to place a lot of emphasis on the world building and i just really appreciate how vast and detailed the world building is. Even when there were earlier unexplored plot points. Guilty brought them up later with more background and explored them more, which made them seem like a satisfying payoff. Even thought the story has come so far already, there’s still so much of the story I’m really excited to find out about.
