Unless you have an Ironman suit, then a magical broomstick is definitely the best flying tool in terms of practicality, maneuverability and performance. Think of it as a flying superbike, then compare that to surfing at speeds exceeding 250km/h (if you can remain standing on the board) and see how impractical a flying surfboard is. Just add a footrest on the broomstick like the firebolt and a spell for a cushioned seat and you're golden.
Flying on a Surfboard was cool, but riding a flying broomstick was silly. That was his point of view.
