The Uchiha were not THE Police force, they HEADED it. It had members from other clans too. Even some non-clan ninja and a handful of non-ninja for secretarial work and the like.One clan even if they had a population of three hundred will have a lot of problems singlehandedly policing a town with a population approaching thirty thousand.After all, some of those hundreds will be children, retirees, and quite a few 9f them will be people who were married into the clan.
It isn't the largest clan compound in The Leaf, or even one of them, but it was more than big enough for the almost one-hundred people who used to live in it, and much too big for the one boy who resides here now.

Considering Sasuke is canonically a character who rarely spoke and kept his thoughts to himself, and this is a version of him with a whole lot more to think about? I'm going to have to argue that it fits.It's understandable if you don't like it, but I would argue that it isn't extra. Or even too much.
