If you are tired of reading about billionaires and the women who love them this is a nice change, different from other unrequited love stories. It is very realistic and poignant. The 2 mc’s are very easy to empathize with and the tragedy that happens over the course of their lives could happen to anybody. A very good story, and good character development, I really like that it spans years. Such a great story.
I gotta say I’m dissapointed with Xavier’s attitude. He rejected Ariana indirectly, then for years he let her suffer, but it’s still all about him and how badly he’s suffering. No self reflection whatsoever. He really doesn’t get that his lack of faith in her suitability as a mate and taking her sister instead, is really something you can’t come back from. I feel bad for him but I also don’t.

This novel is so much fun to read, it’s like the early seasons of SuperNatural. There are a lot of great elements that the author has brought together(humour, suspense, sweet moments, horror) all while developing the plot at a nice pace. The character growth is rewarding too. It’s official, Sean’s parents are scum. They sold out their own son. I wonder who they colluded with to come up with that plan.
The characters are very realistic and Eliana could be a real person, just like in real life things are messy and Eliana is just trying to avoid an unhappy fate, it seems like sometimes she’s successful and sometimes not. I look forward to seeing what happens.
Yang Jia is justa mean person, she knows the truth and still holds a grudge. A complete jerk.
