I am not saying that you shouldn't defend yourself, but there is a difference between defending yourself or the person you care and just outright kill the person. And I do understand what you are saying about why someone who is willing to kill someone should be prepared to have his/her's taken from him but it shouldn't be the job of public, it should be the job of judiciary system and if that system fails to do it's job it's time to change the system itself.
