I think a better plan would have been to split Remus’s forces into 750-250. 750 initiates a flanking attack that distracts the heeat family. As they turn to intercept, half of the 500 in the fortress sneaks out the back and joins the 250 from Remus. They then double time it, circling around and slamming into the rear of the heeat forces. This in turn keeps the 250 in charge of the camp, giving a place to shoot arrows and bolts from, plus a place to retreat to. They can also act as a last resort, charging from the gate as a final hurrah. This makes the Heeat family caught in a three way fight, two flanking attacks, plus a force of archers peppering their ranks. Would have been a slaughterhouse
And seeing this, Remus was there to of course quickly reinforce the man, quickly nodding "Of course it will. As long as they won't have any cavalry, victory is already ours!"
