I don't think so because the scene about their childhood was described from the perspective of a six-year-old, not a teen in his 13 yo. Perhaps changing the scene would be better because the flashbacks, in my opinion, didn't show the source of their odd behaviour, it was just a glimpse of their past together with no useful information (Sorry for my speech) If the scene will not change much then perhaps the Fl will be eight and the ml will be 12 or 13. Having their parent engaged means they still have to meet so the scene will not change much apart from their reactions. I wrote a lot!
