Even before dying to become a true hybrid Hope’s blood still had the same properties as a vampire which is why her blood was able to heal Hayley in the womb and turn her after birth. Hope can make both vampires and hybrids, the only difference being a vampire can have any human blood to complete the change but a hybrid needs to drink Hope’s blood to complete it. Either way Hope and therefore the MC have the same blood abilities (healing + turning blood) but none of the other vampire abilities until after going full tribrid.
Seeing his lack of manpower, he was seriously considering making an offer to Jake and maybe Alex to give them the gift and become vampires.

But is he a vampire yet? I thought he was like Hope where he has to die first to truly become a tribrid. I think right now he’s just a werewolf as his magic hasn’t been awakened (maybe because he doesn’t know any spells?) and he hasn’t died yet so the only things from the vampire side he has is his blood which can heal and turn others.
At that moment, a walker from the cashier appeared and lunged at him. But he casually punched him in the head, removing it from the spine. This made him dirtier than he wanted, which is why he preferred using the bayonet for a cleaner dispatch of them. So he picked a few assorted shirts and dropped them casually after cleaning his face and hands. Then he started picking clothes for himself, filling the duffel bag on his back.

Werewolf vision in tvd doesn’t mention anything about being able to see farther but more about seeing clearer. Sort of like if you needed glasses before activating you wouldn’t afterwards. There was also better perception or hand eye coordination so they could keep up with the enhanced speed.

In FtWD, Madison shot her abusive father to protect her mother before starting her new life in a different state. Her husband was mentally ill, likely suffering from depression, and committed suicide by driving into oncoming traffic. This is said to occur about six years before the pilot episode but the flashback seems to suggest it was more recent, likely 2-3 years ago at the most. (Maddie hid this from her kids by saying he fell asleep at the wheel but she eventually admits further in the series she had found his suicide note). Their son Nick is a drug addict that shows signs of depression up until the apocalypse happens. (He claims he feels like everyone is just catching up to him as the apocalypse starts.) Their daughter Alicia has been working hard in school not to put any further stress on her mother while helping take care of her brother. She seems to view going away to college as a chance to finally get away from all the responsibility and live her life. She like her mother fears that they’ll get a call telling them Nick has been found dead before the apocalypse starts.
First the family history, a construction worker father who has a mental illness with a severe case of depression who killed himself in a traffic accident, a mother who comes from a family of abuse that needed to kill his father to be free of that reality. A firstborn son who has the same kind of illness as his father, and then two girls who grew up in a house living with all of that, then there is me who looked through all of this and tried to help alleviate the situation where I could but all for nothing.
