isn't this more of a reason to choose devour... to give you a chance of gaining an ability you can protect your self with in the early phase. which wld leave you with choosing either regeneration or split to better compliment the devour ability.
Unlike other symbiotes, Slimes in the early stages did not have much offensive ability and did not have much advantage.
