Black is a common surname. Just dont go down the "descended from House Black" route and occasionally play on his surname matching that of the infamous family and it could have made for some funny scenarios. Shame it didn't happen though. Thanks for the chapter.
Fun fact - I first wanted to name him Orion Black. But considering that will led him into the blood fraction and all that nonse, I change his name.

the sentence can be understood as the author calling Voldemort a squib, born from the line of gaunt. which, in canon lore, is incorrect. if they (the author) wanted to say that one of his parents was a squib, they would have to put it something like "squib-born" instead of "squib born".

Am I having a stroke reading the middle part of this paragraph, or is it the phrasing?

Harry suppressed the urge to yell at her. It wouldn't accomplish anything… Her dismissing tone just made him angry. To be perfectly honest, he wanted to know who the girl was. The image of another child in her place, begging for her life as she died for the plans of old men, just made him sick to his stomach.

As much as I'm enjoying this, the constant blue balling with ending the basilisk is getting annoying. Hopefully this end within the next 3-4 chapters. Thanks for the chapter.
As they made their way to the hospital wing, Harry supporting the still-unconscious Brooks with help from Professor Flitwick, Harry's mind raced. He had managed to prevent a tragedy, but he knew this was far from over. The heir was still at large, and the basilisk was still a threat. But now, at least, the truth was out in the open. Harry hoped that at least now, the school might get suspended so he could have a go at the basilisk without any worries.

According to the JJK wiki: Save for Playful Cloud, all special grade cursed tools are imbued with a cursed technique. Additionally all cursed tools imbued with cursed techniques other than the Black Rope and the Sword of Extermination, are officially ranked special grade. -- He's been enchanting items so far with his Blacksmith DS. Saying that, how would enchanting differ to adding a cursed technique? Thanks for the chapter.
I had plans for my eventual load out that would make me a nightmare to fight against for literally everyone. You want to talk about match up? Imagine having to fight against someone in a full kit that was purposefully designed to counter every environment, type of attack and that was next to impossible to damage. That was what I had in mind for my loadout in the future and the best part was that it was totally possible if I deck myself out in special grade cursed tools. For now though I needed to work on this shield.-

I never doubted the character's priorities.
It was a very delicate and terrifying field of magic, but one that Harry didn't find the need to explore. The cost was high for every spell. Using blood magic wasn't something that should be casually done, and every spell had to be calculated so that its users wouldn't kill themselves. The life force used would be gone until reclaimed once more, and even then, barely half remained.
