10 million credits for a lavish dinner for lots then a hundred people? Why is the republic credit so inflated? What can you even get with one credit lol
For a mech regiment deep in debt, they sure held little back for this occasion. Ves recognized several exclusive dishes that must have cost a lot of credits to acquire. The cloud rice from Cloudy Curtain, the luminescent blue mushrooms from Bentheim, the finest red wines from Rittersberg and the aeliotonoc whale meat imported from Moira's Paradise served to everyone present could have afforded half an Inheritor mech.

What other ships? The Wolf Mother has repeatedly been touted as the only ship in the Vandals…
They didn't have to wait for long for their guests to arrive. A dozen mechs along with two sturdy military-grade shuttles flowed in from the hangar doors. They carefully settled down in the hangar set aside for them. The Vandal mechs that used to occupy this space had been transferred to another ship in the fleet.

It’s a 20-year-old design; isn’t half the cost reduction just going to be technological obsolescence?
"That's not exactly right. It's true that we haven't been able to increase the Inheritor's performance parameters, but we did manage to shave off ten percent of its manufacturing cost in that time. Most of our efforts are spent on achieving as much cost savings as possible as opposed to actually improving the design in battle."

If this was the only time he’d called her that, maybe. But he’s been adding “Ma’am” to the end of all his speech this scene, so you’re absolutely reaching lol
"If that is what you think, ma'am."

The homing effect kind of justifies it - he’s getting 240% damage from one skill, possibly spread among multiple enemies. It’s quite strong.
Cooldown: 60 seconds

You don’t know for a fact they stay dead, though. As the guy above said, respawn times could be a thing, and his ability simply gives him an extra respawn per cycle
He then made one round around the workshop to check on the locks, making sure he'd have no more surprises for the night. He then returned to his room. He replaced the damaged bolster and pillow and then laid on the bed. He looked at his radar one more time to make sure that there were no nearby menaces before allowing his eyes to close and letting fatigue overcome his body.

Didn’t even check how much it would cost to upgrade the sword again before using that ore. If it only needed one, it would have been smart to keep the last ore for when the durability grows lower…
Jack looked at his last remaining iron ore. He decided to use it to craft a whetstone using the recipe. The process was the same as upgrading weapons. He just needed to perform a few simple hammerings in certain sequences and timings. But this time instead of hammering on the weapon, he was hammering on the iron ore. And it consumed another 5 of his copper coins.

In role playing game games. Ugh
"Or maybe we are just not strong enough to be allowed out. We should focus on increasing our strength, that's the main rule in RPG games, right? We follow that rule, we will be just fine."

Last time he did a bunch of design work away from the system, it rewarded him for his efforts once he checked it, so I would imagine it counts. It’s still designing mechs, after all.
Well, it wasn't as if he'd be able to design a mech while he served in the Mech Corps. "I'll think about it later."

There was a whole paragraph before about the impact of a changed cockpit using an empirical study. If Velten is concerned about any sort of placebo effect, the right thing to do is to test it again with different pilots, not accuse him of lying. And anyway, it’s not lying to tell the pilots “We made some changes to the cockpit that should help”, and that’s all they need to know.
Several minutes later, the screen disappeared and Velten came back into clear view. Her wrinkled lips pursed with discontent. "The colonel, in her eminent wisdom, has decided that the stakes are too high. She has weighed the extra work your proposal demands and the downsides to lying to our own mech pilots against the benefits that it might bring."
