i agree but we can just imagine Aincrad having weird cultivation story rules. Where each floor is it's own world and the strongest of one floor would struggle against low-mid tier beings of a higher floor. Floor bosses don't count as the strongest of course, more like the gatekeepers of the next floor

my theory was that while those Pokémon can evolve naturally with some sort of stone or something similar to a moss rock for leafeon the item itself is extremely rare or no longer exists and the trade machine uses some sort of energy that with the help of the item the Pokémon is holding simulates the energy from the natural way to evolve
