Before you guys complain that he needs a magical creatures body part to make a foci, remember that his first glove <Ishbal War>and near the end of the FMA series he used his own blood to make the runic circle. If you recall FMA and FMA: Brotherhood did say that the pocket watch given to all state alchemist are actual foci . Roy just uses a glove with a alchemic circle on it. Alex Armstrong uses a gauntlet. The alchemic circles are rune based.
