I had felt like dying when Sebastian had come to room 3 to inform me that Brian Esposito had entered the club, recognized Ginevra and was taking her away.
I had immediately set off the fire alarm because I understood that soon there would have been a bloodshed if I had not intervened in time.
Unfortunately, due to the confusion, it had taken me a little longer to get out of the Bridge and, when I had seen Ginevra in tears with Brian holding her against himself, I wanted to kill him, but the fear of also hurting Ginevra had stopped me from grabbing the weapon behind my back and shooting.
I had read a dull pain, deep and without resolution, in Ginevra's gaze when she called me.
I wanted to tell her that it would be all right, that I would never leave her in the hands of the Rinaldis, because when they found out that she had been hiding all this time at an Orlando's house, there would only be the death penalty for her as punishment, but not before having extorted all kinds of information from her, through torture.
If I wanted to save Ginevra, I would have had to do anything to keep her from crossing the river.
I tried to take advantage of the moment she got in the car to get to Brian, but I found myself escaping the gunshots of the man, that covered the Ginevra's screams.
I hid behind a car just in time and, just as the car came out of the parking lot at full throttle, I took a shot.
I hit Brian on the shoulder.
The car skidded for a moment, but finally left.
I ran back to the club, where I grabbed the keys to my BMW.
"Are you crazy? What are you going to do? You're going to get yourself killed!" Jacob understood as he held one of Brian's henchmen at the club at gunpoint.
I didn't even answer him. I went to the garage and started at full throttle while Jacob responded to the fire.
"Fuck!" I shouted desperately when I saw Brian cross the Safe River.
Without thinking about the danger, I was running, I entered the east of Rockart City.
It took me a while to make up for the distance since I didn't know the streets, but I knew where Edoardo Rinaldi's residence was and I was sure that Brian would not waste time bringing his war trophy to his future father-in-law.
My intuition turned out to be correct.
I caught a glimpse of Brian's car just as the gate of the huge Rinaldis' residence was closing.
I stopped the car.
I had run off in pursuit of Brian and had not prepared myself properly to face the danger that I would have run once I entered the property.
The chances of dying assassinated were very high.
Besides, I was alone and that made it difficult to check the whole perimeter.
I tried to analyze the situation, but my mind screamed there was no time.
If I hadn't intervened immediately, Ginevra would have died.
If only they dare to hurt her, I ...
That thought was destroying me.
I counted the remaining ammunitions and looked for an accessible place where I could enter without being seen.
Ginevra, I will save you! If this were the last thing I do before I die!
