Capítulo 1: New Beginnings
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Reyna Winter Haden. I'm sixteen. Three years ago I made a fool of myself and I still haven't lived it down. So when my parents announced we were moving, I felt the tiniest ray of sunshine flood my dark life.
Moving meant I could finally move on and away from the hell I had created.By 11 am on Saturday morning, three days after the announcement, we were on our jet to a new state. By 2 pm, we had arrived. A thick cover of trees graced the landscape.
They moved us to the freaking countryside! But for now , I'm going to be quiet cause I'm just happy to get away from the underworld. Permanently.
"Zachary." My mum gasped, looking out the window. "It's just as we left it."
"I know baby. I know." My dad said, he sat beside my mum and threw his right arm around her and got lost in the view.
They're so old and I love their chemistry. I wish I had that before the incident.
"Honey what's wrong? You've been awfully quiet," Mum said watching me with worried eyes.
My mum is so pretty. She has full, heart shaped pink lips, long curly hair and a fine nose. She's slender and doesn't lack a single thing women would usually wish for. It's surprising how she kept her figure even after having kids.
"Nothing. I'm just taking in the view and enjoying my time with you guys," I answered, sending them a warm smile.
They both looked at me and smiled. They work a lot and have been working throughout the flight. They only got up and moved into the seat across from me on table after being informed that our descent would be in five minutes.
My dad is a lawyer and owns his own firm. I guess he's really expensive to hire, especially because he's never lost a case. He's in his early fifties and mum is in her late forties.
They both have never looked their age. In fact, they seem to be aging backwards! My mum has light skin but my dad is a bit darker. Yes, my family is black.
My dad has dark brown eyes, while my mum's has a honey-ish hue. My brother, Edward, looks like my dad. We're both light skinned, but I'm darker. He's two years older than me, but we're really close.We're going to be attending the same school.
My parents moved him out of state to this prep high school because it wasn't up to their standard anymore. They felt he deserved better, especially since he goes of to college in the fall.
I'm suddenly snapped into reality as we touched down. I didn't realize I had been lost in thought. When we had stopped, we got of the jet and as always, there was a Phantom parked and waiting.
The chauffeur quickly jumped out the car to help us with our luggage. He looked so scared of my parents. I can't even blame him. They look so serious, even with casual clothes on.
We got in the car and were driven out the airport. Forty five minutes later, we pulled up in a drive way. I looked up from the book I had been reading.
"We're here honey," my mum said gleefully, watching me with hope filled eyes.
I won't lie. I was blown away.
