Opal was a small settlement just north of Vale. It was close enough to Vale to still be under its influence, but the rather rural nature of the small town made it somewhat isolated from the rest of the world. There was a CCTS or Cross Continental Transmission System, but there was only so much one could experience in the form of book, word of mouth, and video. After all, you only watched and learned what you wanted to on the internet.
It was here that Jaune Arc, a young boy from the Arc family lived. The family was once a rather famous Knight family, one of some wealth, great knights, warriors, and of course Huntsman. The Arc's were always one of fighters and warriors. Great men and women alike have sprung from the name of Arc, and it was this name that the scrawny and somewhat dull child was bestowed upon at birth.
His birth was one of complications, being the last and youngest son of six other daughters. Aura may work miracles, but so many births had to leave their mark in some way. Each time was something of a roll of the dice, after all.
Jaune, being premature and the family's only son was somewhat spoiled, oh so very pampered, and protected and sheltered from the world by overbearing sisters, a mother, and a father. Three of the boy's sisters, his father, his Grandfather, and his late uncle were all Hunters of some sort. His bedtime stories were that of great men fighting evil, of battles won, of glory, and of triumph.
Jaune would have lived a soft life, one of simplicity. He'd grow an ambition that he was blinded to from his upbringing, and chase after it in naïve hope to become a hero like his ancestors.
In the dead of night as this boy slept, a soul rocketed its way into Jaune's. Flung through space and time, it struck the boy and a sort of reincarnation in the most literal form of the word between the young boy of seven and an older and wiser soul of twenty three began. The older took over the driver seat as they fused, memories mixing, will colliding, arguments and disagreements smoothing over and compromise made in the span of a few moments. Compromise, however, was a state where both parties were left unsatisfied.
The physical reaction of this sudden merge was merely Jaune turning and crying softly in his sleep as a man and boy died; from the ashes another who was neither was born.
These actions created cinders and sparks, the boy's Aura awakening in a silent but bright explosion of white and bright purple or violet light. The boy who was now a man woke from his fitful sleep and sighed as he went through memories of a show that depicted his new and old reality.
He didn't dwell on that show, deeming it irrelevant other than interesting facts and the more broad functions of his world that he now lived in. Jaune sat on his bed and crossed his legs, meditating on his soul and smiling at the feeling of his Aura brewing inside his body.
Both males had large auras and the fusion between souls didn't just add A+B, but instead created C squared in some strange metaphysical mathematics that hurt his brain even just thinking about. Now his almost off purple or lavender Aura spun and swirled in his soul-scape, the dead man that journeyed through the void very familiar with how it felt to be a soul and allowed the fusion between dead and live to experience his soul in a way that few men on Remnant ever had.
He played with the energy, moving it back and forth and tried to call on a semblance of some sort. He knew Jaune's, Aura Amplification, but as he tried to use it, he got something of a distant 'yes, but also no'. The boy hummed, smiling softly as he knew he'd have a powerful semblance if the two fused and mutated just like his Aura.
Yet, as he played with his new metaphysical self, which sounded like masturbation when put that way, he felt another energy well up next to it. Frowning he poked and prodded, soon getting a reaction as it started to spread through his body it felt warm, yet it shifted to cool, then hot, then static-like, and then heavy, as he started to get an idea on what it was.
He pulled the energy from the well located in his soul, separate from his Aura, yet oh so similar. He guided this energy through his body and into his hand, before willing it to be cool and chilly.
A mist of frost and frozen water generated in his hand, the boy's eyes went wide as he smiled, yet as he channeled his magic, he felt his Aura react. Information bulled into his mind as he came face to face with two semblances fused together in some monstrosity.
Enchantment and Magical Item Amplification. Technically the same soul and semblance, just one twisted by another with extra facets added on.
Enchantment allowed him to use magic (dust in the normal case if he didn't have magic) to imbue magical enchantments onto an item. He touched his onesie and felt several dozen enchantments, magical natures, and the magical energy needed to imbue the article of clothing with an enchantment. Wanting to try it out, Jaune imbued the onesie with the element of Darkness and enchanted it with 'great dreams', and 'restful sleep'. Then he also imbued it with the element of light, granting it 'warm comfort', and 'healing embrace'. He felt that he was limited to four enchantments on this specific onesie and knew that if he had a higher quality item with more functions, he could enchant it to become more powerful and more enchantments on a single item.
Feeling his magical reserves shrink down to half, Jaune smiled and moved over to his toy box. He started to rifle around, before finding a toy soldier. It was one of those little green army soldiers that looked like a Faunas version of a World War Two soldier.
He felt the list of enchantments come to his mind and smiled as he selected 'animated' from the 'neutral' realm of magic, and 'strength' from the same.
The toy became alive, and he set the little guy down. The toy saluted up to his great master, and Jaune handed the toy some larger toys. A car, a truck, and the entire trunk of toys.
The green man lifted the car with ease, struggled with the truck, and failed to lift the trunk. Jaune then poked the man and activated 'Magical Item Amplification'. The toy flexed and lifted the entire box over his head, the box rattling greatly. Jaune caught the box as the green man dropped it. Placing it down softly, Jaune hummed as he thought of ways to use his semblance and magic.
...
A now eleven-year-old Jaune ran around the house in his 'training gear'. A full dark green olive one-piece suit ala Might Guy, orange leg warmers, running sneakers, an orange head band, some wrist and waist bands, a weighted vest, and two ten-pound weights.
His oldest sister Bianca watched her little brother in exasperation, glee, and shame. He looked so cute, yet at the same time like a total dork. The boy had grown immune to teasing and would do things in a geeky and dorky way just to annoy his sisters when they teased him with no reaction.
Sapphire Arc, Jaune's mom came out and watched the boy complete another lap and shook her head. That boy was a training freak.
"How many has he done?" The mother asked.
"Twelve, one more to go." Bianca said dully. "How that boy unlocked his aura one night, I'll never know."
The mother sighed, "Is he still determined to go?"
Bianca sighed, "Yes. Dad has tried to talk him out of it, but the boy is just as stubborn as the rest of us. The worst thing is, he's going to be great at it."
Sapphire cocked her head. "How is that bad?"
Bianca put her face into her hands. "Just worried he'd think we don't support him or something. Don't want him hating us for holding him back." The mother frowned worriedly.
"Come now, isn't that too much?" She said, wringing her hands.
"I'd hate it if dad didn't let me become a hunter." Bianca said, a firm frown on her face.
Jaune lapped back around, arms pumping and unknown to the two watchers, leaking a substantial amount of magic in his movements to expand his reserves. He passed the two, not even looking at them such was the focus and will his 'Headband of The Giga Chad' gave him. He turned into the house, opening the back door and moved to the kitchen.
There a protein and vitamin filled shake was held in 'his cup'. Made from transmutated diamonds, the cup was to a jewel smith worth millions of lien, but to the family it was just Jaune's weird cup.
The diamond cup was enchanted with two dozen enchantments that increased the potency and supernaturally supercharged the 'thought' and 'idea' behind what was drunk from it. Meaning instead of drinking a million carbs that makes him fat, he instead is compulsed to drink the 'perfect' amount of supernaturally enhanced health drinks, creating the perfect diet in just one gulp.
After drinking breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the boy moved to the living room and dressed up in his Yoga gear that puppeted his body into doing the poses. Joints popped and cracked as he worked at bending his legs behind his neck, and in fifteen minutes was finished with his Xtreme Yoga practice. Then the boy went upstairs and dressed up in his 'Cultivator Garb'. He had two of these sets of clothing, one for meditation on his soul and the nature of the universe, increasing his Aura capacity even beyond his already disgusting amount, and his practice set.
This set allowed him to 'comprehend', 'understand', and increased his 'talent' in the Way or Dao of Combat and Battle.
He also took out his 'straw dummy' from the shed and went out into the yard.
When he first started to do this, they thought it cute that he was trying to dress up and 'fight' and 'train' like a Mistrali main character in some novel or Manga. Then he kept doing it and they thought he had a problem when he just stared at a straw dummy in a horse stance for thirty minutes every day.
While the family thought he was deranged and going insane, Jaune was undergoing brutal training by merely standing.
The dummy was a scarecrow, one that pulled Jaune into an illusion for a fight. Inside its post was a pillar of pure diamond as its core of magic and enchantment. This scarecrow was always faster, stronger, tougher and would mimic Jaune's skills and combat instincts to a T. Getting killed repeatedly, Jaune's physical body was also under pressure as it was under a magical resistance field that replicated every movement Jaune made in the illusionary space. This developed muscle memory and increased his ever-growing pain tolerance.
For Jaune, around two hours had passed but it felt like days if not weeks of battle. In reality it was only thirty minutes before his mother tapped his shoulder. Jolting out as he was choking on his blood from a stray straw thrown by the scarecrow, Jaune almost took off his mother's head in sheer instinct. Getting a hold of himself, Jaune looked up at her.
"You're almost late for school." The women frowned, and Jaune sighed. Not having time to put the straw dummy away, Jaune ran upstairs to change into his nerd outfit that allowed him to learn and memorize things like a veteran scholar.
Sapphire sighed as she walked over to the kitchen and shook her head. "That boy, so strange and I don't know what to do with him. Great grades, amazing physical abilities, stellar in all words. Yet, he doesn't bring home friends, never talks about anything that happened in the day and is always training this and training that." The mother ranted to Bianca, the women humming.
"Hey, I'm going to inspect that doll Jaune plays with." Bianca said, her mind staring at the scarecrow with an odd expression. The mother huffed. "Sure, do whatever." Before walking back into the house with a small frown on her face.
Bianca was a recent graduate at Beacon Academy. Assigned to Opal's defense, it was the best job she could ask for as she got to protect her family. She 'unsheathed' or unfolded her weapon, a lance and anti-material rifle combo. Going out into the back she inspected the straw doll, no scarecrow. It had a wicked grin on its face and the eyes looked like they were made from actual black opals. The thing was dressed in a worn suit of all things, patched up and straw only poked out of its pants and sleeves. It was of good quality, and she'd never seen Jaune hit the thing, despite its supposed use.
"I guess I'll try what he does." She muttered, twirling her lance around. She paced a few steps back, before slowly dropping into a horse stance.
She closed her eyes and calmed her breath. Then opening her eyes, she watched the scarecrow. It twitched. She blinked and shook her head, before her breath hitched. 'Was the sky ever crimson?' The scarecrow got off its pole, dropping to the ground and pushing up with its arms.
"A new soul joins me, how wonderful." It spoke, its voice wicked and cruel. "My name is Cruel Crow, my purpose is to beat you into the ground, break your will, mold your mind and body into a masterwork of death and destruction. Feed me your fear, for you shan't fear death in this realm. You will yearn for it." A crow landed on its shoulder and straw fingers grasped it by the neck before squeezing.
Blood ran down the straw, more blood than a crow should ever have before being manipulated into a scythe, it reminded her of her sister's semblance. "Now...dance!" It shouted and dashed at her faster than most hunters with speed semblances. Her lance crashed with the scythe of blood, and she narrowly dodged a needle of straw aimed to take out her eye from the other hand. The scarecrow spun his scythe, slashing out and battling with the women.
His was a dance of cruel death, blade and straws aimed for maiming and pain. The first blood came to Crow, Crow's scythe taking a slice into her thigh. Bianca bit back a scream as her leg was lacerated by the blood scythe and had to keep fending off against the ever-piling onslaught of Crow.
He was faster, quicker, stronger, skilled, tricky, smart, and everything one didn't want in a combatant. His straw manipulation could have been a semblance on its own if it didn't cover his entire body, making him flexible beyond belief. As she fought, wounds started to pile onto her, weakness spreading through her body as she lost blood, and the scarecrow taunted her and did as he claimed. Yet, as the last bit of strength left her after a third wind and she collapsed into the dirt of the wheat-field they fought in, she bared her neck for a quick death only for him to grab her by it.
"It's my first time to have been visited by a soul other than my master. You look like him." The scarecrow muttered. "No matter." It said, another crow landing on his shoulder. He crushed it too and then fed her its blood.
He chucked her into the field, the women crashing into the stalks and getting back up a moment after. Her blood sang and energy filled bone and mind. Snarling she leapt after him, lance and scythe clashing once more. The battle lasted for another hour before she gave out, another crow, another battle, again and again. She felt a hand on her shoulder and nearly lashed out if she didn't feel the Aura that came with it.
The field faded, skies turning blue, and she blinked and fell back out of the horse stance as pain and agony lanced through her muscles. Breath came quickly as she hyperventilated, death having been at her door only a few times in her life.
"Dear? Are you alright?" Sapphire said, worry in her eyes as she started to help her up.
"That...that was crazy." Bianca gasped.
Sapphire pulled her closer. "What...what happened?" Sapphire said, looking at the scarecrow that was on its pole.
"I was copying Jaune, horse stance and weapon out." Bianca explained with Sapphire nodding. "Then I closed my eyes, and the house was gone. I was in a field of never-ending wheat, and the sky was red." She shivered as she remembered the scarecrow. "That scarecrow then spoke to me." She whispered, ignoring her mothers surprise and disbelief. "Called itself Cruel Crow and removed itself from the pole before creating a scythe of blood from a crow. We fought." Bianca shook. "It was strong, always just a bit faster, just a bit quicker, and all the more skilled. Cunning too, using needles of straw as strong as steel and it could outright ignore my aura." Sapphire paled, inspecting her body and Bianca winced, whining due to her sore muscles.
"I...I hurt a lot right now. Like an impossibly intense workout session." Sapphire nodded not seeing any blood, but still fretting.
"Cruel, when he defeated me fed me the blood of a crow, and I healed from my wounds. Then we fought, again, and again. Whenever I felt I'd advanced or figured him out, he'd get faster, stronger, or switch to a different weapon. He used my own lance just as well as I did, then switched to Jaune's sword...that kid is getting a grilling." She growled, "Where is he?" She asked.
Sapphire cocked her head, "He left an hour ago, dear." Bianca's eyes widened.
"I was in there for...four? Four at the least." She said, shaking her head.
"Well, talk to him about it when he gets back." Sapphire said, only to find Bianca staring at her pitifully.
"Uh, can you...help me to the couch." She asked, lip quivering due to her pride being squashed and pain.
Sapphire laughed, "Awe, you haven't asked me for help since you turned fifteen." She giggled, lifting the girl up in a princess carry with ease due to her own aura. Bianca blushed, before getting set down on the couch.
...
Jaune sighed as he walked in from school, loosening his tie and putting his glasses back into their case. He tossed his shoes by the door and entered the house.
"Home!" He shouted, not even using proper grammar.
"Jaune! Come to my room." Bianca shouted from the second story of the home. He frowned, before shrugging and going to Bianca's room.
He walked upstairs, idly shuffling around with his blazer. Entering the room, he saw Bianca on her bed with a bucket full of ice packs. He rose an eyebrow.
"The fuck's with that scarecrow?" She demanded, and Jaune cracked a smile.
"Got your ass kicked?" He asked. She growled. "So, you do know."
"Yeah, made the guy." He shrugged, "I'll be back, got something for you."
"Oi!" She yelled.
He moved into his room and got out his 'magical medical miracle kit 9000'. He took out an ice pack, and water swished inside it from a surplus of heat. A blast of Ice magic and it froze in a second. Then he took out his ultra-soft towel of ideal temperatures and wrapped it up. Then he got out his 'profession kit' and pulled out a massage stone of 'Greater Relaxation and Pleasure', before also getting out his acupuncture kit and doctor's glasses and worker's gloves.
Walking over to his sister's room he sat down by her bed side and started asking questions.
"Just muscle soreness, or is there some mental scaring?" He asked, wondering if he needed to get the Club of Amnesia.
Bianca looked at him weird. "Just soreness, although that Crow dude was creepy as hell."
"Yeah, I was going for an aesthetic." Jaune nodded. "He's, my trainer. I only do a few minutes every day in fear of developing legitimate PTSD."
"You can say that again." She muttered.
"Anyway," Jaune segwayed. "I have a couple ways to help you out right now. So, basic explanation, my semblance is called 'Enchanter', and I can make supernatural objects straight out of a RPG or fantasy book." He explained. "For example, if you said you had mental trauma, I'd get out my Club of Amnesia and whack you up the skull and you'd forget the last day." Jaune shrugged and his sister paled. "It only works when aura is down, so don't worry about it too much." He waved away. "Anyway, I have a stone of greater massages, gloves and glasses that make me a 'proficient expert in any civilian profession', and a set of acupuncture needles that actually do things." He explained.
"The massage would rub away your soreness in a jiffy, but I made that for more...happy ending massages than sister-brother ones if you catch my drift." The eleven-year-old wagged his eyebrows.
"Jaune!" Bianca exclaimed, a bright blush on her face.
He shrugged, "At least I didn't bring the aphrodisiac massage oil. That stuffs a Class D narcotic by Vale law." The women sputtered.
"Moving on, my gloves would work fine, but that's less supernatural massage and more 'damn, this is nice'. How long did you go for, by the by?" He asked.
She calmed down a bit, although a blush was still on her face. "Four hours, although mom said it'd only been an hour real time." Jaune whistled.
"If you want to use it again you can just rush Cruel Crow's post and break it. He'll fight you for it, but it's his 'weak point' and it'll drop the illusion." Bianca nodded but asked another question.
"Why am I sore if that was just an illusion?"
"I had to incorporate muscle memory somehow, and I decided to full send for pain tolerance training." The boy shrugged, "I don't even flinch when I stub my toes anymore." He bragged and Bianca deadpanned. "What, I thought that was impressive." He pouted.
"Anyway, after your third 'death' you'll want to break the post, or you risk exhausting your muscles and generating an over intense workout that even Aura won't help solve." He put on his glasses, "Hmm, you're in the safe side of 'good gains', but not perfect or optimal." She nodded, before frowning as she had a thought.
"Couldn't you make a pair of glasses that lets you see through clothes?" She asked and the boy nodded.
"Yeah, I made a pair, but it's a lame ability that's over hyped. Besides, I'd rather make a sleeping mask that gives me lucid wet dreams." She blushed again.
"That means you saw us!"
"Well yeah," Jaune shrugged, "Incest Wincest, mate." He poked his tongue out at her and she slammed her hand onto his head.
"Ow."
"Pervy brat." She scoffed.
"Bruh, I can't even enjoy it correctly. Prepubescent, remember?" He whined.
"Still a brat." She needled.
"You want to fix your body, or you just gonna insult me?" He said, crossing his arms.
"Fine, what else. I'm not doing your perv massage." She scowled, and he shrugged.
"The acupuncture is what I'd recommend, as it has long term benefits, although it's also a bit intimate." He sighed.
"How?"
"Naked in the bathtub," He shrugged, and she cuffed him in the head again.
"Yeah, yeah, pervy brat blah blah blah." He mimed. "It's not hot at all. You'll be vomiting and sweating out black sludge that makes sewers smell like fresh lakes. If you have poison or some kind of buildup of impurities, you shit and piss them out as well." She paled greatly.
"Yeah, not fun. But...There's some cool benefits." He did the eyebrow thing again.
"What." She bit out.
"You'll look like a goddess for one. Aura does good work, but this will make your skin become supernaturally soft and supple. Stomach aches a thing of the pass, any internal problem for your body will be eliminated, your bone structure becomes more refined, and your muscles will tone and become extremely defined. You'll go from a solid 9/10 to a supernatural kingdom toppling beauty." He explained. "Then there's the bone marrow treatment, although that one is less gross and more utter torture. It'd make your blood transport oxygen better, make you a stamina freak, and generally improves your lifespan by a few decades."
Bianca was interested. Oh, oh so very interested. "Sigh, can't believe I'm doing this." Bianca slowly got out of her bed and stumbled around as she found her footing using her little brother as a crutch.
They moved to the bathroom, closing the and locking the door. Jaune got out his silver needles and infused his magically enhancing aura into them.
"Lay down in the tub, back up." He ordered, "Then turn the faucet on and I'll get to work." Jaune looked away as she undressed and laid down.
He then started to work, placing needles in pressure points and began infusing light and earth magic into her body, before blasting it with some fire at times to cook out the impurities. Bianca gagged, and a ball of black matter was vomited into the bathtub stinking it up. Jaune didn't smell anything because of his medical mask he'd taken from his room on the way back, and just kept working.
An hour went by with Bianca going through a hundred humiliating body reactions. The ones ladies supposedly don't do, yet Jaune didn't bat an eye as he used a layer of air to shield himself from any interaction with them. Soon all needles were in place, and he gave her a minute.
He started to remove the needles and then ordered her to flip onto her back.
Knowing that Jaune has at this point already seen everything and wouldn't even care, she flipped onto her back, and he started to put needles into special points.
This one was less disgusting and more freeing as she felt energy, life, and blood flowing through her body freely. Her skin clung to her body and accented the developed muscle she's gained throughout her life, and needles that targeted her breasts made them larger, yet lighter in a paradox.
"Marrow?" Jaune asked as he finished the front, picking needles out of her feet.
"Sure..." Bianca said dully, feeling like a wet dog who'd been thrown into a car washer.
Jaune got out a strip of Pain Suppressing Leather. "Bite." He ordered and Bianca did so. Jaune got out a new set of needles and inserted them into each of her bones. Bianca, even with the strip of enchanted leather let out agonizing groans of pain through the mouthpiece. She started to sweat out bad blood from her pores, and her platinum blonde hair started to turn even lighter than it already was as her bloodline was refined.
In another hour, the torture was over, and he removed the needles and blasted her with a light spell to heal the wounds.
"Done and done," Jaune said, packing up his needles. After finishing he filled the bath for Bianca and filled it with bubble bath to try and clear out some of the smell. On his way out he set the air vents to keep running for ten hours.
...
Jaune downed his gulp of super juice from his diamond cup of nutrition and cracked open a book on Dust Casting. It was the weekend and Bianca had been sleeping for the past...fourteen hours.
He turned up to the bathtub at eight when he noticed she wasn't in her room and had to dry and clothe the passed out women. Then he tucked her into bed, and she's been sleeping since seven last afternoon. It was currently nine in the morning right now and he figured she'd be sleeping till the afternoon.
His mother was concerned, but Jaune shrugged it off as 'Semblance magic bullshitry'. She chuckled at what he said and lightly chided him for his language.
He got off the stool he was drinking at and walked outside for the shed. The shed was 'Jaune's Domain', and everyone knew that fact. He built stuff there, did magic stuff, did experiments, and stored his creations that couldn't be stored inside his room there.
He was currently working on his weapon, I.E his hunter's weapon. The Yellow Death was interesting, but other than being made from an old steel the weapon wasn't special beyond it's age and capacity for enchantments that he could boost by bejeweling his better blade with gemstones and coating its blade in diamond.
His current design was a Zweihander.
Starting from the bottom up, the pommel was an oblong metal sphere or ovoid with a diamond center. A rather plain if layered with platinum pommel connected to the grip. The grip was 475 millimeters long, with a large knob design at the center of the grip. The crossguard of the blade was gothic hooks in design and 85 millimeters long each. Ricasso, or the part that divided the blade from the parrying hooks was 150 millimeters long and wrapped in leather for some half-swording features. The parrying hooks were simple crescents designed to catch incoming blades, before extending into a massive wavy blade at an exact meter long starting from the Ricasso.
The blade weighed in at an insane thirty-two kilograms, being made out of an alchemical and magically created titanium-uranium-tungsten alloy. Rather light for those materials listed, but magic saved the day. The blade was his pet project and could hold a total of 34 enchantments. From Greater Sharpness Enchantments, Durability, Grimm Bane, Self-Repair, to Cursed Wounds, and Sentient Blade of Will. A magical sword made to be wielded in some rather simple hunter armor.
Jaune would have gone for a heavy armor build if it weren't for the fact that he could get those same benefits from simple cloth with his magic. Sure, it would be greater if he used metal and cool knight designs but transmuting and forging complex metals was already a chore and he needed a hunter outfit that was quick and easy to put on.
Besides, he had an outfit ready. Made with 'perfect fit' enchantments, Jaune created an old medieval outfit and started to upgrade it.
He had a sturdy and studded brigandine of red crimson leather, black accents, and silver-diamond studs. Some pauldrons of simple design that mimicked his brigandine. Some long and fluffy sleeves of red and black checkers covered his arms and met up with a pair of black and extremely ornate gauntlets that went up to his elbows. His pants were baggy black and hidden mostly by his brigandine 'skirt'. His boots were a pair of metal sabatons that connected to a pair of greaves that went up to his knees and bunched up his baggy black pants.
He looked like a lightly armored medieval noble's son trying to compensate with a massive sword. That was until he put on the creme de la resistance!
A Chaperon was a hood that was later adapted into a very versatile hat. Kind of similar to turning your skullcaps backwards, but old school.
His Chaperon was black and red, checkered like his puffy sleeves. The hat made him look a bit posh and paired with a polished silver theater mask of woe and tragedy; Jaune turned from strange medieval looking warrior to a right scary fellow who had a strange sense of fashion.
His emblem that all hunters use was a large six fingered hand with an eye at the center of the palm. Around it were several of his homemade runes that he used to decorate his works. While not integral or even functional for his enchantments to work, he charmed them to glow when magic was active. Charms were weak enchantments that only did small stuff like a glowing rune on a sword.
His armor was of course enchanted. His hat was called 'The Mad Chaperon', and would constantly entrap and ensnare foes in illusions, cause spikes of frenzy, fear, fury, and doubt inside their minds. The hat also protected against mind afflicting semblances and protected him from mental intrusions while keeping him calm and focused on battle.
His mask protected him from biological, chemical, and gas-based attack. Called 'The Mask of Woe', it functioned similar to Medusa's Shield, in that it would create great fear and mentally attack a person's mind. It also granted him a greater perception of his surroundings, warned him of danger and attacks, while also being a one-way mirror on the inside as to not limit his vision. The eyes were also shadowed in darkness, protecting his eyes from bright light and making the mask even more creepy while granting him dark vision. Dark vision was a superior version of night vision that the Faunas had, which allowed him to see even in areas of high and no light.
Jaune had several plans for earrings, ear piercings, and other ornaments for his ear to protect against sonic attacks and more accessory based magic items for things like 'Resistance To Fire'. You can never have enough resistance to fire. Cough Cinder Cough.
His pauldrons were simple protection, shields against magic, shields against fire, acid, lightning, resistance against poison, disease, rot, decay, and a dozen other things as each of the studs on his armor had a diamond inside of it. His gauntlets were similar in design to Daedric gauntlets from Skyrim, and they had an enchantment like the 'Sure Grip' enchantment that improved your Two-Handed Skill. His just let him always have a sure grip on his weapon which let him do one handed and other dumb things with his blade practically. Cause fuck physics in particular.
His greaves and sabatons did a similar thing, making him not easily slip and fall on bad surfaces, reinforced his balance, and strengthened his footing on surfaces. He had a belt that stabilized his center of balance that was just broken to use in combat as it allowed him to legitimately just cheat and break physics.
Then, on his gauntlet's fingers were several rings with gems embedded in them that functioned as more protection and defense-based enchantments.
He also had a cloak that could be used to shrug off the natural elements, but it was made useless when he remembered Aura did the same at a cost of constant drain. Still a cool item and cloak though.
He did want to make it into something like Doctor Stranger's cloak but flying and 3D combat didn't appeal to him as much as feather falling boots did. He liked the dwarves' saying from World of Warcraft of 'Keep Your Boots' on The Ground!'
Regardless, Jaune had a massive amount of gear waiting for him and he debated on going to Signal Academy. It wasn't like he couldn't learn everything he needed for Beacon and just ace the exam that Ren and Nora went through. School while a great place to use his 'nerd clothes', was utter hell for him as a fusion between an introverted young man who was too 'mature' to talk with kids, and a determined and willful boy who wanted to become a hero while also being horrendously unsocial and awkward.
In their fusion, Jaune had become the worst of being Brutally Honest, and Honestly Brutal while at the same time being quiet and reserved. That adage of 'be wary of the quiet kid' stood true for Jaune, as once he opened his mouth you just wished he hadn't. Bianca found that out the hard way.
Still, he was only eleven and Signal Combat School started for kids when they hit thirteen. Was it morally gray to groom kids into becoming warriors against an unending threat of monsters and terrorist scum? Yes, yes it was. Did Jaune care? No, no he did not.
Jaune, through his fusion with the yet named soul, had become far more...esoteric in his views. Not an anti-hero, no, nor a fake 'doing it for glory' hero, but rather a more...realistic hero. One who strived not for the accolades, but simple want to prove his greatness not to his family, the people, his teachers, but to himself.
Jaune was a self-driven hero, one who would charge into the depths of hell if he thought he had a shot to survive and come out better for it. Life or limb didn't matter when he could make a prosthetic magic arm that shot magic lasers. Death didn't matter when reincarnation was confirmed, and the only thing that held him back from being something like...ugh, Yang, was that Jaune had class and Yang was all bang and no buck.
The other soul would admit to someone's face that he was totally corrupted by power and the thrill that it gave him, but Jaune reigned him in with all that paragon bullshit. Jaune and unnamed soul were not opposites, but rather 'conflicting errors' when mixed and that had interesting results when one looked at their personality traits.
Brutal Honesty, paired with a casual 'fucks have not been given nor grown' and added to an apathetic, yet empathetic personality. Paradox inbound, take cover!
Jaune had just finished weaving one of his enchantments for his future cock ring when he heard a knock at the door. Hiding the ring, he went over and opened it before his mouth dropped open.
"Damn." He muttered, rubbing his chin as he looked at the Amazonian Vampire Targaryen princess. Muscles in all the right places, an exposed midriff with abs that he wanted to worship, silver hair that if you squinted in the right light was a bit blonde, although she did have a single blond highlight giving her a Jaina Proudmoore look. "I swear if I'm impotent in this life I'll fucking commit die." Jaune muttered, admiring his work.
Bianca blushed at his words, coughing. "Just...how?" She asked. Her mother had already gawked at her when she woke up and asked who she was. When she answered the women fainted. This caused her to run to the bathroom after making sure her mother was alright and inspect the goddess she'd become.
"I do good work?" Jaune shrugged, more in question than anything else. "I wonder if we have a bloodline or connection to some demi-god. Did you know that magic and the god's once existed? Yeah, I used this orb thing and asked it a bunch of questions like 'Does magic exist' and it said yes! Then I asked if 'god exists', and it said yes and no. Which means sorta basically. Then I asked, 'do the brother gods' exist' and it said yes! Theory confirmed baby!" The eleven-year-old pumped his fist. Bianca just took a deep centering breath, before breathing out through her nose.
"Can... you do our sisters?" She asked, wincing at the wording.
Jaune blinked and frowned. "Sure, I guess. Just don't tell anyone outside our family. I don't want to get locked up in some Atlas facility and forced to manufacture magic items for some old fuck to scratch his balls with. Although if that happens then I'll just make some magical plague that kills only rich people." The boy shrugged.
Bianca ignored that part, "Why haven't you done this, by the way? Or told us about your semblance." Bianca asked, looking at the blond locks of Jaune's hair and his baby face.
The boy frowned. "I haven't yet reached the age the Doctor Glasses say is okay for me to go through the treatment. I'd likely have made something similar to a doll who could do surgery or something." The boy explained. "I'll admit to being really greedy with my artifacts. I'm happy to do things for you guys, but don't think you can just come over and demand me to make some god-level artifact or inane object. I have a ton of shit and time to use, but the moment demands start getting made I'm packing. I enjoy volunteering, not being voluntold."
Bianca nodded her head, knowing that Jade was rather demanding of the boy and Rosemary would steal his stuff if she knew what it did. All the sisters loved Jaune dearly, they just had strange ways of showing it.
Jade's idea of love was tough love and 'life lessons'. Rosemary liked teasing and frustrating the boy, and if she knew she could get a rise from him by stealing his things then it'd not go well. Bianca could see that Jaune had a major trigger regarding the theft of his stuff, and if he was thinking of making a plague to kill the 1% of Atlas, then she didn't want to see what other things he had cooked up for his plans to escape servitude.
Bianca started to go through lists of things that the sisters might want.
Bianca wanted Hunter gear. That sword hanging on the wall looked like a masterwork and she felt a sense of danger coming from the thing that she knew wasn't natural. Then there was the old-school armor set that Jaune had on a model of his body. That mask was something else, and the hat made her eyes and brain hurt looking at it.
Octavia would want more of the same, maybe something that could work with her Dancing Fighting style? She didn't really know the limits of Jaune's abilities. Octavia would mother the boy and likely bear down on the other girls about keeping his abilities in the family. Bianca smirked, already knowing Tavi would be getting some of the 'good stuff'.
Rosemary would whine and beg, which if her read on Jaune right now was right would push him away. It was less begging for something and more ask 'hey, can you make this for my birthday', or 'I have a hunt in a few days, can you make me this'? When she knew that wouldn't work, she'd likely want to have a 'bet' on who was stronger with Jaune's loss meaning Rosemary would get some goods.
Topaz would want to test and figure out how Jaune's powers worked, which meant she'd likely just want items that helped her in her studies. That girl was always in her head and would likely just kidnap the poor boy for her experiments, which wasn't a good idea. Jaune read as a strong willed, and very stubborn person who'd does not bend or beg for most anything. Less a pride and more a principle of the fact that he'd been manipulated and used.
Aqua, would be Aqua. She'd just want to see the boy's inventions and powers and not ask for anything out of principle. That girl would do anything to see the boy smile and laugh, although with how reserved he was she'd likely just get smiles and chuckles.
Violet, now that was a mystery. The girl was a massive goth and dark freak, so much so that she'd likely ask the boy to make her a tame grim or something dark and spooky like that.
Jade was the one to watch out for, being the most demanding and aggressive personalities sans Rosemary. Rose could be tamed with force, noggies, and tickles. Jade was the deva of the family and the one that would want Jaune to wait at her service.
"That works, I'll get Octavia out here in a week at the least." Bianca said. "I'll have a family meeting with the girls and mom about all of it."
Jaune rose an eyebrow, "Not dad?"
Bianca scoffed, "That man hasn't been in the house since last year. It'd be a miracle to even catch a glimpse of the man without spilling the beans."
Jaune nodded, having a neutral opinion of his father in this life. His other soul had a good dad and mother, so he was good on parental love and all that stuff.
"Cool, want anything?" He asked. She rose an eyebrow.
"Thought getting something would be like pulling teeth." She said, a smile on her face.
Jaune scoffed, "Yeah, I call myself greedy, but its more cautious of who I trust not to spill the beans to some Atlas or Authority figure who sends it up the line. I'm always willing to find excuses to use my abilities and I'd be handing out fists of diamonds to you guys if it wouldn't crash the market and make us suspect." He sighed, "Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead."
Bianca nodded, finding sense in his closed nature.
"Sure, uh, what's with the sword, mask, and that weird hat?" She asked, not really sure what she could ask for.
"You're fishing for examples?" He asked and she nodded.
"Like I said, most anything I can do or make comes from enchanted items. Cloak of temperature regulation, hat of closed mindedness, pole of stun, and a million other things. If the item can in some way or form perform that enchantment, its free game. Rings and accessories being the exception, you can put damn near anything on those things." Jaune explained.
"Anyway, the hat is called a Chaperon, an inverted hood from the olden times. I call it 'The Mad Chaperon' and it ensnares the minds of people around it in illusions. Simple pain in the skull, a sound to the left of you, a sense of danger, a spike of fear, a sudden wake of sadness that makes your eyes tear." He listed, "A hat of distractions and a useful tool of torture." The boy stated.
Bianca had her eyes wide as she stared at the hat.
"It also blocks out mental intrusion, effects, and semblances that mess with the mind and senses. A powerful tool, no doubt." He finished off.
He then went on to list the effects of the Mask of Woe, his unnamed Zweihander, and a dozen other things around the shed.
"What's this?" Bianca said, holding a strangely large ring, tone full of wonder.
Jaune looked at it and chuckled. "You don't want to know." He said, a smug smile on his face.
Bianca cocked her head in thought, frowning, before deciding to trust her brother. "I don't."
"Damn." The boy muttered, "Anyway, idea's floating around?" He asked.
"Yeah, can I have a bunch of magic bullets and my lance all upgraded?" Bianca asked.
Jaune nodded, "Sure. I'll throw in some rings and accessories that will protect you from stuff like Apathies, and possession Grimm." Bianca smiled, hugging her little brother. The boy came away blushing and Bianca was reminded of her appearance.
"It's gonna be damn hard to get a good boyfriend with that appearance." Jaune said idly. Bianca froze and frowned, suddenly seeing another side of her new form.
"Yeah..." She sighed.
"You swing straight and narrow, or do you broaden your horizons?" Jaune asked casually.
Bianca coughed, blushing again, and mumbling something.
"Didn't hear."
"...horizons."
Jaune nodded, "Sweet."
They fell into a brief and strange silence. Less uncomfortable and more just odd.
"Best wake mom up and explain everything." Jaune offered.
"Yes. Yes." Bianca nodded and waved goodbye.
Jaune watched her go and hummed, "Damn, that ass." He walked over to his workbench, picked up his cock ring, and went back to enchanting.
...
Did Sapphire think it strange that her youngest had filled her body with needles and sharp objects, her being completely naked? Yes. Did she think it a humiliating and humbling experience? Yes. Was it worth it? Fuck yes.
Sapphire inspected her white gold hair, silky smooth and rivaling that of any supermodel, advertisement with photo shop, or really any realistic body image that was out there. No, not rivaling, but surpassing completely.
Her belly that had been getting bigger from constantly pumping out kids and easy living had vanished into thin air, replaced with a soft and washboard smooth abdomen. Her ass that was a bit too fat had toned into a godlike piece of flesh, and the gap between her thighs would strike a man from his god. If her daughter was like a warrior princess, then Sapphire was a sinful seductress. She walked down the stairs, her daughter's jaw's wide as they watched their mother come out from a comic book.
Breakfast was being made, Bianca and Jaune always gone as they woke and ate at early times. Octavia was currently in Beacon with Rosemary. Currently at the table was Violet, Topaz, Aqua, and Jade. Violet was staring at her, her own hair dyed with black highlights, although to compare the two would be like comparing gold thread and cheap yarn.
Jade was looking at her with shock and no small amount of envy, Topaz was questioning reality, and Aqua was looking at her with sparkles in her eyes.
Aqua asked first.
"Mom! How did you get so pretty, not that you weren't before, but now..." Sapphire smiled as her second youngest rambled.
"Your brother has the most interesting semblance." Sapphire said, smile widening. "Not that this wasn't without sacrifice. Honestly, how did that boy figure out how to do this?" She muttered.
Two words, Cultivation. Novels.
Topaz rose an eyebrow, "Jaune's semblance is...beautification? That's...out of character." The girl said, eyes narrowed.
"Oh, no that boy explained it all, but it went in one ear and out the other. Something about an RPG and Enchanting? Honestly." Sapphire shook her head.
Topaz started to mutter, trying to extrapolate as much information from what was said.
"So, how did you get so...pretty if it wasn't beautification?" Jade asked, her eyes narrowed.
"Jade." Sapphire said, eyes narrowed. Sapphire could feel the negative emotion welling from the girl and it caused her to blush in embarrassment. Semblances were ever so useful.
Sapphire sighed, "He called it acupuncture. Some Mistrali practice that he used with his semblance to 'cook the impurities inside my body and expel them out in a metaphysical and physical sludge'." Sapphire shivered, "To say it wasn't pleasant is an understatement. Then there was that entire bone marrow thing." Sapphire frowned, "I'd rather give birth to triplets than go through that again, and that was after the pain suppressing thing."
The siblings shifted, most any women would do anything for good looks like Sapphire's, and what she said hadn't dampened their hopes.
"Where is Jaune anyways?" Jade asked, a smile on her face.
"Bianca is his 'manager' for his 'services', whatever that means." Sapphire said as she started to serve breakfast. "He's in his shed but asking about this without talking to Bianca is against house rules, one of the stipulations for my transformation."
Jade scoffed and got up to go to the shed, Violet slipped away to follow with Aqua tagging along with the dark girl, and Topaz slowly drifted over.
"Those girls are going to set their brother off." Sapphire sighed, knowing that Jaune wasn't exactly...normal to say the least.
...
Jade knocked on the door of Jaune's shed, a frown on her face as she waited. She knew Jaune could be stingy and petty but being selective in something like this isn't acceptable.
"Who?" Jaune asked, bags under his eyes as he hadn't slept for a day with nonstop work.
"Jade." She said, stepping into the shed and looking around. She scoffed at the stupid looking hat and small armor, rolled her eyes at the large sword the boy likely couldn't even hold let alone swing, and disregarded the rest.
"Can you do what you did to mom to me?" Jade asked.
Jaune didn't answer at first, moving back to his workbench and weaving another enchantment onto an earring for Bianca. "Yeah, yeah, sure thing." Jaune said, "It's invasive, gross, you must be naked, I need to be there 'cause I'm not making a robot doll thing to do it for me...too much work...way, way too much work. Painful as fuck, cause Pain Nullification kills nerves for some reason. That Hazel guy gets to be special for a bit longer." The boy muttered.
Jade sneered, but hid it, "Little perv, why do I need to be naked?" She asked, hiding her scorn.
He rolled his eyes. "Can we do this...later? I'm a bit worn." He said, voice exhausted.
"Running away?" She asked, a bit of venom in her voice.
"I'm sitting right here though?" Jaune said, voice confused. "I just don't want to explain something that will be explained to the entire family when Octavia gets home." He said, going back to his work.
"Just tell me what I need to do, without you getting a peak." She ordered.
Jaune sighed, "I need to apply 364 needles into your back and front, into extremely specific pressure points and metaphysical nodes of energy. A single bit of wrong vibration into a needle could make a cripple out of not only your body, but also your soul. I have the knowledge, the semblance, the everything needed to make it go right and do it correctly without incident. If you want to have mother or Bianca to do it; I can lend her my gloves of expertise and have them try, but if something goes wrong or the gloves get confused, they'll panic and run out to get me for help. Then I'll need to fix something that I don't know if I'll even be able to fix, and shit goes from bad to shit when we don't finish the entire process." Jaune ranted.
"Only after I did Bianca did I learn just how risky that shit was, and with mom I had an entire array of 'oh shit' stuff ready and on hand. From soul jars, blood flasks for DNA preservation and future cloning and necromancy..." The boy breathed deeply. "I... need to rest." He said as he stared at his ring of wisdom and magic regeneration. He got up and walked out the shed door, raising an eye at the ease-dropping Topaz, Aqua, and Violet, before leaving for his room.
Jade exited, rolled her eyes at the ease-dropping sisters and went to her own room, deciding to let Jaune rest.
Topaz spoke first to her two remaining sisters. "Jaune is either mentally unwell, or a wizard." She concluded, entering the shed, Aqua and Violet following.
"Jaune said he had soul jars and 'future cloning and necromancy'." Violet spoke, looking around for any weird stuff like that. "That's so cool." She vibrated.
"He seemed really tired," Aqua noted, "Hope he sleeps well."
They snooped around the shed. Aqua brushed her hands on the massive blade on the wall, needing to go on her tippy toes to touch it. The moment she did she recoiled, getting the impression of a sleeping young man who really, really shouldn't be woken.
Violet found a massive tome, Jaune's research diary that he kept keeping track of all his ideas, enchanting options, combinations, and completed works. Topaz joined the girl, reading over her shoulder using her semblance 'Scholar's Eyes', that let her read, comprehend, and understand almost any written text.
Jaune's first entries were simple effects that were loosely coded, they skipped ahead, finding 'days' and 'projects' organized and listed later in the book as it evolved.
"I've managed to create the basis for my 'Glove of Expertise', needing the gloves of used handymen rendered down and restructured into my own more comfortable silk gloves. A hammer's blow would just bounce off, while still being sanitary and delicate enough for brain surgery. I'm using this for a few days to train my hands in calligraphy, I'm a bit tired of having shit handwriting."
"Test 293 is a success, I've finished my final enchanting scheme for my brigandine...
...Test 201 is done and good, it's late, uh, so far...it looks like I have increased perception over my surroundings. The circlet of telekinesis is done and locked away in my treasure vault...
...The Hammer of Unlife is finished. I took inspiration from Castlevania and created a 'spark' of 'false life' that would animate, mimic life, and slowly repair the body in the process. With a good system and leadership, I could have an unending army of undead going in a few years, but sadly I dislike going to sleep smelling like a corpse, so unless I need to go through lichdom I'm going to throw this into the vault...
"...The scepter of curses is complete and ready for use, I was thinking on cursing Jade today with it, and decided to go with a curse of 'stubbing toes' and 'bad hair'. Deadly for any girl who hates being clumsy and unkempt. Teach her to steal my deck of cards. Although, thanks for reminding me about the fact that I had cards and giving me an idea. I used my magic to conjure up a mundane 'Deck of Many Things' and started to brainstorm how to make the thing. I wasn't some master wizard who could just snap his fingers and enchant things with whatever I want, but I can game the system. Around a Kilometer away from the house a field has been cleared and six head-sized polyhedrons of 20-sided die pointed up on the twenty (of which I threw until all six landed on twenties naturally, cause magic is a bitch if you try and cheat luck). These diamonds are connected to several dozen plates of levitating metal disks that tilt toward the sun and collect heat and solar energy to convert into magic and fill the diamonds. Using these storages of magic power, I dedicated them conceptually to the eighteen cards of The Deck and started to create my current 'Opus Magnum'.
The Comet, Ace of The Hearts: "The you of a better future. Gain experience, skill, power, and ability from a you in the far future who did far better than you of the possible past. From increases in Aura Capacity, Magic, Swordsmanship, or really any profession, skill, or ability that can conceptually improve from 'experience."
The Sun, King of The Hearts: "Oh, want a magic tool, do you? This is a rough 'wish' spell in the form of a magic tool. Wish for a comb of great hairdo, a mirror that shows you what your ideal image would be and imprints it upon you before shattering, the more fantastic and phantasmal the harder it is to specify what you gain, and the card will do its best to grant you what you wished for. Yes, you can ask for the relics."
The Moon, Queen of The Hearts: "Wishes, everyone wants wishes. Even with my creative set-up, I can't alter reality to such mind-boggling extents, so this is more a cursed wish spell. Instead of granting YOU a wish, you can hold three monkey paw wishes that you can use to grant anyone else! Ask your greatest enemy what his 'wish' is, and if he answers then it'd be granted in the worst of ways possible."
The Knight, Jack of The Hearts: "Need some help? Call a powerful member of 'moral' and 'lawful' leanings over to your side to fight for you in a pinch. Basically a 'summon a hunter on speed dial'. Cool, right? Took a while to figure out the higher reality mathematics to create a divination spell that could teleport to your location a being of a specific moral leaning."
Key, Ace of The Diamonds: "The card turns into an interactive map, showing your location and that of the nearest valuable treasure! Honestly one of the more powerful ones if you're up for an adventure and some theft! Divination, animation, and enchanting of a map. Simple, yet taken to levels never thought possible."
Gem, King of The Diamonds: "In need of some material wealth? Well, I've just the thing for you. The card will turn into a die, 20 sided. Roll the die and if its below five, you get five pieces of jewelry that I've personally made. A few of them might even be magical! Above five is that number of jewelries, so roll a twenty and you've got yourself enough for a king and his queen."
Vizier, Queen of Diamonds: "I'm a wizard, and you find yourself needing a spell? Well, my time is a packed thing, but I can help you out. The card turns into a coin. Flip heads and you get ten one-time use magic scrolls that I've made. Anything from city block-leveling to a useful spell to use in a pinch. Flip tails and it turns into a wand of powerful magic, most are offensive, but you might get a wand of Cure Disease, or Mend Wound. Refuel wands with Dust.
Star, Jack of Diamonds: "Find yourself dumb? Weak? Spewing your lunch cause your stomach doesn't hold? Well, this grants you a random 'blessing' that buffs you up a bit. Makes you a tad bit smarter, a bit stronger, or maybe a bit more handsome."
Fool, Ace of Spades: "You find yourself confused as you look around dazed. This isn't where you remember being last. You've just lost one year of memories, muscle memory, life, and social connections. Good luck convincing people your actually an amnesiac."
Rouge, King of Spades: "You are declared an outlaw. Framed for doings that simply have been naught are tagged onto your head and you are now declared Rouge. Hunters will recognize that you are a wanted man, or at least a bit shifty, public officials will look at you with suspicion and you will have a bounty on your head. A wanted fugitive is your life now and a weak-willed wealthy man that this card has mind controlled has declared a life-long vendetta against you and yours. He will stop at nothing, even bankruptcy or death, to have you in irons or dead."
Skull, Queen of Spades: "Death, ever present, and ever lurking near. The last thing you see is a card imprinted with a skull before it flays your mind, rips at your soul, unleashes a cloud of poison and rot, before detonating in a five-meter radius that will discombobulate your atomic configuration. Death my friend, is ever grand. Maybe you somehow survive this, but if you do, may death ever lurk over you like a comforting friend."
Donjon, Jack of Spades: "A portal opens and out comes a powerful monster. This my friends is a randomly selected Elder Grimm similar of strength and power to that of a Nuckleavee. Good fucking luck surviving this Grimm fate."
Balance, Ace of Clubs: "Balanced, as all things should be. Yet, in this case it is your mind that must be balanced. Your moral leanings will be determined on a loose scale of nine alignments. Where you fall into this scale depends, but if you fall into one of the leanings your moral values and entire mind and being is flipped onto the opposite of the scale sans true neutral. A murderous psychopath will learn empathy and joy, while a happy young girl who longs for joy and fun will become the sickest and most depraved of monsters."
Talons, King of Clubs: "Lose your most valued artifact or object, magical or otherwise. It shall be randomly teleported somewhere into the world, or even on the moon. Good luck getting it back."
Nurgle, Queen of Clubs: "You are cursed, poisoned, and infected with a magically mutated disease that will rapidly mutate and evolve into a deadly pandemic incurable without magical aid. Hope you got a wand of Cure Disease or something, because this could turn Mistral into a dead-zone and you into a corpse. Don't worry though, Grandpa Nurgle comes in clutch and binds your soul to your corpse, doomed to become an undead. Intelligence is up in the air, but if you are, well good luck not going insane."
Idiot, Jack of Clubs: "You are graded by your attributes, from intelligence, strength, constitution, luck, will, and a dozen other things. Your highest attribute becomes your lowest, so a genius becomes an idiot, while your lowest becomes your highest, that genius if skinny and weak becomes swole as fuck."
Jester, Joker of All: "You have a choice. Take a weaker Sun card and gain the better future, although of shorter time, or risk it all and take two more cards. The choice is yours, and your greed could mean great things, or your doom."
The sisters at this point had all huddled over the book, reading the details of 'The Deck of Many' and found themselves horrified and enthralled.
"Jaune's...a wizard?" Aqua said.
"This is so cool." Violet said, her giddiness apparent to the others.
"If, and that's a big if, this is true then Jaune just created a deck of cards that could potentially kill millions." Topaz said dully, "Millions."
Both girls teetered, before shrugging. "We'll ask him."
...
Jaune rolled out of bed refreshed and ready to tackle the day. He drank his breakfast and sighed as today was a school day. Monday, the worst of all day's sans Tuesday and Wednesday.
Putting on his uniform, he went through his routine, and was surprised to see someone using his Cruel Crow. Bianca was in her horse stance, and Jaune decided to wait. Not even a few moments later Bianca jolted as she exited the training realm, glared at the scarecrow, and sighed.
"Hey, Bianca." Jaune waved, wielding a blade more his size now and not his Zweihander.
"Hey, Jaune." Bianca waved back.
"Good gains?" He asked.
Bianca nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, a bit sore, but you were right about acupuncture being better for short- and long-term gains."
He smiled, "Great, my turn." He moved forward and Bianca got out of his way. He held his horse stance and was soon pulled into the illusion.
Thirty real-time minutes later and he broke the pole, getting pushed out. With a deep sighed he felt his muscles burn and rage at any stimuli but pushed it down with practiced will.
"That's the stuff." He muttered.
"So, did the girls bug you?" Bianca asked.
"Yeah, Jade came in and asked for it, but she didn't want me seeing her naked or anything. Fair, but I won't let anyone else do it because they don't do magic like me." He shrugged, "Best to let the pro do the extremely dangerous and volatile work than a newbie cause you were a bit body shy, is all I'm saying."
Bianca nodded a bit, agreeing with some points, but she knew that Jaune was a bit dense about 'non-practical behavior' like gender separation and double standards.
"The others?" She asked.
"They ease dropped and explored my shed. I'd have been woken up if anything bad happened, so I guess they're okay." He shrugged the thought off.
"Would think you'd be more protective of your workspace." Bianca noted.
"Yeah, I would be, but you're still all my sisters." The boy sighed, "A bit hard to be so secretive and touchy in a family this large. In any family really. I have my cool magic shit that is a bit too dangerous and a bit too valuable to be tossing around, besides, it's my ability and I get to choose how I use it."
Bianca nodded, before the topic changed into more casual and simpler things like hunter-life and school.
"I don't think I'm going to Signal." Jaune shrugged. Bianca rose an eyebrow, "You planning to do an outer-kingdom exam for Beacon?" She asked.
Jaune nodded, "Yeah, I don't really need Signal. I have my weapon, I have my semblance, I have an entire family that knows how to use Aura effectively, how to hunt Grimm comes from experience and study both of which I can easily gain, and I'm leagues ahead in combat skills due to Cruel Crow over there." Jaune sighed, "Even if I drop all my studies, I'm already a master at mathematics, geometry, a range of sciences, language, and a dozen other things. The subjects that I don't know can be picked up in a few weeks of hard study and suddenly I'm an all-A student."
Bianca nodded as he'd told her about his 'nerd outfit' and how it made him a genius.
"Signal seems like a first step that I took a year ago when I started to train seriously. I'd bet you I'd wreck most all students at the academy, and the education while nice just isn't worth the time I could use moving towards my next Magnum Opus." The boy enunciated.
Bianca hummed, "How would you know you're as good as an Academy Student?" Bianca asked.
"Well, Cruel Crow put you on your back foot at least once the first time you used it, right?" He asked, and Bianca nodded vigorously.
"That thing is a monster."
"Well, it was functioning off of only one set of battle data, that being me and it. It has an enchantment of 'enlightenment' that brings in new ideas to stimulate growth when we stagnate, but if it pushed you, then that means our combat data was enough skill-wise to push a hunter back."
Bianca gaped at her brother, "Damn." She muttered. Jaune nodded, "If Cruel is good enough to take first blood, then I'm good enough to beat a snot-nosed brat who hasn't been mutilated a hundred times by a sadistic scarecrow." Bianca grimaced but nodded anyway.
"Say, what is your 'Opus Magnum'?" Bianca asked, curiosity getting her at what her brother considers his masterpiece.
The boy smiled and his hand reached into his nose. He tapped the inside of his nostril, before a poof of smoke manifested itself over his other hand not busy digging for gold.
Bianca stared at her brother, shaking herself and mentally breaking a bit as his method of storing things was too wild and insane for her mortal mind to understand.
She stared down at a small box, labeled 'The Deck of Many Things'. Then he started to explain each card, pulling out mundane ones and showing her the graphics and effects.
Her disbelief slowly rose, before horror and fear overtook her as she stared at what should be called 'The Devil's Deck'.
The boy put the deck back where it came, and Jaune got up when he heard Sapphire calling his name.
"Gotta run, don't ask for a draw cause knowing my and your luck you'd get Rouge and fuck us all." He laughed and jogged away.
Bianca stared at his form and shook her head. "Devil Brat." She muttered.
...
Jaune walked home from another day at school and mentally debated making a device to age himself physically and legally. 'It'd need to be a conceptual device or spell, one made to change the 'written word and law' into one of greater number and form. The divination is gonna be fucking hell.'
One of the worst parts of being an enchanter beyond the amount of higher-plane mathematics ala Time Lords was the sheer amount of divining one needed to do to create more wide range and 'all encompassing' spells. The people who say Divination is a useless school is either a movement to hide its use or sad ignorance of its capabilities to create wide-range and grand spells through ritual and device.
How does the mirror decide who is the fairest of them all? Divination. How does this spell figure out who is who and what their favorite color is? Divination. On and on it goes with Divination being better called 'the magic of information'. If Knowledge was power, information was king, then magic made you god.
'Can't wait to get my greedy slimy hands on the staff of creation, that thing is going to get abused. Abused I say! Like a demi-god in PJO fanfiction!' He cackled mentally.
He rounded a corner and blinked, 'huh, look at the chances.' He jogged forward and threw himself at his target.
A master swordswoman, a dancer who made Neo look like an amateur at fighting in the unorthodox, Octavia Arc had come home.
The women gave out a huff as she felt Jaune flare his familiar Aura and declare his intention before he got decapitated through instinct. The women coo'ed down at Jaune, a wide and happy smile on her face.
"Ah! You've grown so much, my little knight!" Jaune pouted. "I'm a wizard now!" Jaune declared. Octavia was still in her last year at Beacon, a year younger than Bianca. She'd seen him when he was seven, but Beacon had taken her away before she met New Jaune. New Jaune and Old Jaune were very different people.
"Oh, a wizard now? You've found out your semblance." Jaune smiled a wide grin, he'd always loved his older sister Octavia.
"Yup! It's super powerful and I could kill millions of people if I get lu- er, unlucky." He smiled a smile bright and pure.
Bianca sputtered, the innocence of his voice making her mind glitch as she processed his words.
"Uh, okay?" Honestly, what else could she say.
"Yup, its really cool." Jaune smiled further. "Wanna see." He said lowly, eyes wide and voice creepy.
"Ah, later." Octavia smiled, wanting to get home.
"Sweet, we're gonna have so much fun." Jaune said, "I'll make you super cool blades to go with your throwing knives, and a cool coat, and a tricone hat with a fancy feather, and a fancy pair of boots, and a cool whip blade. Oh, I'll do some acupuncture and see if we can't turn your hair white, then I can call you Lady Maria and you can use your cool Hemomancy semblance and act all cool." Jaune rambled. Octavia planted her hand on his head, ruffling his hair and making Jaune smile even wider.
"So cute." She mumbled, which made Jaune snap up and hug her. Octavia blushed and pet her little brother. "Come, we have to see Bianca, she has to beat our sisters away from abusing my semblance." Jaune said, "Jade's being mean, Topaz wants to dissect me, Violet thinks I'm cool now and not a looser, while Aqua's being Aqua."
Octavia smiled at the mention of her sisters but frowned with the descriptions. "What about Bianca and Rose?" She asked.
"Rose hasn't been home in a while, but she usually makes fun of me for reading dry math books. It's not like I want to learn how to harness the power of higher-dimensional mathematics to create portals for my cards and spells, but it's kind of a requirement for most space magics." The boy rambled.
"And Bianca?" Octavia asked as they neared the house.
"Oh, she's cool. We get along like friend more than siblings, and she's fun to tease. You should see her blush now, makes me want to ravish her when I get older." The boy commented.
Octavia missed a step, "Ravish?" She asked, a blush on her face.
"Yeah, you should see her now. Besides, Incest is Wincest, or so the internet goes." Octavia coughed. "Nah, I'm not joking, she said she's down for 'broadening her horizons' in the opposite gender, so if you ever get the itch." The boy wagged his eyebrows.
"Jaune!" Octavia exclaimed, "Who's teaching you these things."
"Me, myself, and my giga galaxy brain. What's life without spice after all? I'm gonna life for centuries if not forever if I go down the lich route." The boy shrugged, "And if I do go down the lich path, then I ain't gonna have a dick and will forever more be a sad virgin." He sighed, "What a sad fate. A wizard who's an actual wizard." He opened the door. "Besides, it'd be sad not to lose my virginity to my sisters, like, brah, that's Wizard behavior One Oh fucking One. Don't source that last bit, I'm like the only wizard I know other than Oz and that dude has marital problems that have lasted millennia."
Octavia was gaping but followed her brother deeper into the house, "Anyway, mi casa su casa, and all that jazz, welcome home, don't drink out of my cup, don't fuck around my shed, don't steal my shit, love you and goodbye." He walked away.
