With a deep breath taken in and out, Otis made his move in the next instant.

"Vernon Sword Style… Midnight Slash!"

His voice was gentle and composed, devoid of any form of doubt as he knew what he wanted to do and what he would achieve from that single slash of his sword.

A lucid mental image of the scenario formed in the mind of the young Vernon. 

…However, it did not come to manifest as he had envisioned it.

Looking at the outcome of his attack, it was a typical case of 'What One Ordered' versus 'What They Got'.

"Tch!" he snorted as he shook his head in dissatisfaction. 

He then massaged his forehead with the blade still in his grasp, contemplating what may have gone wrong.

'Augmenting the family sword technique with my skill was not as easy as I'd expected. Seems the process is really going to be a difficult one.'
