Capítulo 140: Mansion Escape
The Escape As Lyra attempts to flee the mansion, Aurora launches a final attack, determined to stop her.
Lyra dashed through the dimly lit corridors of the Nightfall Mansion, the sounds of the chaotic ballroom still echoing in her ears. She had to find a way out before anyone realized she was gone. Her heart pounded as she ran, every step taking her closer to freedom.
But just as she rounded a corner, a chilling voice stopped her in her tracks. "You can't escape, Lyra."
It was Aurora. Lyra turned to see the ethereal beauty standing at the end of the hallway, her silver dress shimmering eerily in the low light. Aurora's eyes were cold and filled with determination, a faint mist beginning to swirl around her.
"I won't let you leave," Aurora continued, her voice dripping with malice. "Not after what your mother did to mine."
Lyra's heart raced. She remembered the stories about the feud between their families. Aurora's mother had been defeated by Lyra's, and Aurora was intent on revenge.
"I have to go, Aurora. Please, don't do this," Lyra pleaded, but Aurora's expression hardened.
"You think you can just walk away? You're part of this now," Aurora hissed, and the mist around her thickened, spreading through the hallway.
Lyra turned and sprinted back the way she came, but the mist followed her, growing colder and denser. The temperature dropped rapidly, and she could see her breath in the air. Ice began to form on the walls and floor, making the surfaces slick and treacherous.
Aurora's laugh echoed through the mist. "You can't run from me, Lyra."
The cold mist swirled around Lyra, creating illusions that disoriented her. Shadows loomed and shifted, and she could see ghostly shapes moving within the fog. Suddenly, an ice construct lunged at her, its form solid and menacing.
Lyra yelped and ducked, narrowly avoiding the attack. She knew she couldn't keep this up. She needed to break free from the mist and find a way out of the mansion. The escape potion she had taken was still in her system, giving her heightened senses and speed. She had to use it to her advantage.
Focusing her mind, Lyra tuned out the illusions and concentrated on the real threats. She could hear Aurora's footsteps approaching, the mist growing colder and thicker with every step. Lyra dodged another ice construct and sprinted down a side corridor, hoping to lose Aurora in the labyrinthine hallways.
But Aurora was relentless. "You can't hide from me!" she screamed, the mist swirling violently around her. She created more ice constructs, sending them after Lyra with deadly precision.
Lyra turned a corner and skidded to a halt. She was trapped in a dead-end hallway, the walls closing in around her. The mist filled the space, making it hard to see or breathe. She felt the cold seeping into her bones, her movements growing sluggish.
Aurora appeared at the entrance to the hallway, her eyes glowing with icy fury. "This ends now," she declared, forming a massive ice barrier to block Lyra's escape.
Desperate, Lyra searched for a way out. She spotted a small gap at the base of the barrier, just big enough to crawl through. With the last of her strength, she dropped to the ground and squeezed through the gap, the ice cutting into her skin.
On the other side, she scrambled to her feet and took off running again. She had to find another way out, but the mansion was a maze, and Aurora was hot on her heels. She could hear the icy vampire's footsteps behind her, the mist creeping closer.
As she reached a grand staircase, she knew she had to make a stand. She couldn't keep running forever. She turned to face Aurora, her heart pounding with fear and determination.
Aurora emerged from the mist, her eyes filled with a cold fury. "You won't escape me, Lyra. Not after what your mother did."
Lyra clenched her fists, her mind racing with alchemical formulas and strategies. She had to use everything she knew to counter Aurora's ice magic and survive.
