Chapter 6 — Working Diligently.
Jason Star's Daily Log.
Day 3.
SDF Academy | Class 1 | 9:20 AM.
"Introduce yourself."
"Hello. My name is Jason Star. Its nice to meet you. I don't remember my memories too much and also not familiar with Sidonia itself, so I will be thankful to receive some of your help."
In the lecture hall, Jason started out by simply introducing himself while wearing a bright and welcoming expression. He was standing straight on the podium with confidence.
The first expression was important.
Jason's black and crimson eyes swept his surroundings. He was inwardly surprised to see many girls that looked identically the same. It was if they were the carbon copy of each others. Moreover, they reminded him of a certain violent girl that he encountered yesterday.
Jason then pondered if the girls were all sisters. However, how was it possible to give birth to so many of them at the same time? It was probably another body modification or some sort of alien technology.
"Mr. Jason, you can choose to sit wherever you like," The professor kindly said toward Jason.
"Uhh, okay."
Jason decided to sit down at a corner where no one seemed to be sitting. He didn't knew anyone. He just wanted to focus and learn from the lecture.
Shortly after Jason sat down, he started to hear people whispering something to each others. They were naturally talking about him, like the rumors of him not being from Sidonia and his odd yet handsome appearance.
Sometimes, it was frankly a bit annoying to have superhuman senses.
Jason wishes they would soon stop talking about him.
The professor started his lectures, causing them to become quiet. Jason was thankful for that.
The professor then started talking about the lectures and materials all of them are gonna learn starting from today.
He said about teaching them about the complete history behind the destruction of earth and also the beginning of Sidonia.
He also said he was gonna talk about complex and complicated strategies and formations like the palm formation that will allow a squad of Guardians to travel at a fraction of speed of light.
They also needed to learn many things about Guardians and its weaponry system. And they also needed to learn about Gauna's characteristics and their weaknesses.
The professor was gonna teach them about many things that it was exhausting to list down each and every bits of it.
However, Jason needed to learn every subjects perfectly.
While he was listening very carefully, Jason was able to feel someone staring at him. And it wasn't in a good way, causing him to feel weird since he haven't offend anyone.
He secretly glanced toward the direction where he felt the hostility and saw it was one of the identical sisters.
Jason heard they were the Honoka Sisters and all of them were clones. They were actually just 5-year-old despite looking mature enough.
After seeing that girl glaring at him with intense fury, he knew she was still not over that accident yet.
Jason sighed after thinking about that.
Just a little more patience. He just needed to endure a bit more and he will be over with the SDF Academy. He will become a real guardian pilot very soon. That was the only way he could live.
He was worried about his current lifespan, but Mr. Alien was currently offline to save energy, so he couldn't asked how much time he have was left.
The lecture soon ended, Jason was prepared to leave the lecture hall and start his training at the Virtual Training Facility. However, people started to gather around him.
They were all curious people who wanted to know more about him.
Jason could only helplessly answer their questions one after another while smiling. It wasn't that bad to be friends with them for the long run. And it wasn't a bad trade since he was able to learn many things including the names of everyone in the classroom.
The names of Shizuka Hoshijiro, Izana Shinatose and Norio Kunato particularly attracted his attention.
First of all, he heard Norio Kunato was rank 1 in the entire SDF Academy. Shizuka Hoshijiro was the second after Norio Kunato. Izana Shinatose was just a person who was genderless.
In Sidonia, a new kind of gender was artificially created. They were genderless until they eventually choose their partner.
Jason was stunned at how far the body modification has progressed in the future. It was almost terrifying.
As he continued to chat with them, the Honoka Sisters approached him and the others made way for them.
Jason looked at them and tilted his head confusedly, feigning ignorance. His acting was too natural, making him fear of his acting talent.
"What can I do for you guys?"
"Are you seriously asking that? Don't you remember what happened yesterday? You saw it all, you better take responsibility!"
En said with her face completely flushed like a tomato. She was the oldest of the Honoka Sisters and was also the one who almost kicked Jason at the face.
"What do you mean by I saw it all and take responsibility? I don't remember meeting you nor something happening between us yesterday."
En quickly wore a surprised expression and remembered Jason saying he would forget it all. Back then, she didn't believed him at all.
"You don't remember what happened yesterday?"
"What? What did I forgot yesterday? Care to enlighten me about it? It I forgot something important, I'm really sorry about it."
"I-it's..." En didn't have the face to say that he accidentally saw her naked body yesterday in front of so many people.
She was speechless, not knowing what to saw now. She thought Jason was faking not remembering anything, but his expressions and subtle movements showed otherwise.
She then remembered that Jason had suffered from amnesia and it might even be still affecting him now.
And so, without other choices, she chose not to continue and retreated.
"Oh, nevermind. It wasn't even that important anyway. Its nice to meet you, Jason. I'm called En."
She extended her hand toward him.
"Likewise," Jason smiled lightly while shaking her soft hand.
He then did the same to the other Honoka Sisters who found him to be pitiful.
He soon learned the names of the Honoka Sisters. The second oldest of them was called Ren. And to the Honoka Sister's surprise, Jason was able to differentiate them all apart from each others, earning their positive affections.
In reality, Jason was still able to remember what transpired yesterday, but he had already placed it at the deepest part of his mind. The naked bodies of young girls didn't attracted him that much. Furthermore, the Honoka Sisters were like mentally children. He couldn't bring himself to get excited.
Jason was instead only interested and infatuated over the perfect metallic mechas. It was a man's true romance.
Jason said goodbye toward his classmates and said he was gonna try out the virtual training facility. He couldn't waste anymore time on socializing when his life was heading to its dead end.
His future plan was to try his best to garner as much as attention, interest, and positive feedbacks. He might get special treatment and promoted earlier than others to become an apprentice guardian pilot.
Jason also planned on visiting the SDF Virtual Library to study everything in advance to get a head start against his other classmates.

Day 39.
Sidonia | SDF Academy News.
A month quickly passed without anyone knowing.
At the moment, The SDF Academy was currently chaotic and filled with unprecedented changes.
It was all because of one man.
That man was called Jason Star.
And he became a living legend.
At least, inside the SDF Academy that is.
Jason's performance at the academy rose so fast like a meteor that it almost became unbelievable. At the very start, he was performing very averagely, but as time passed, he improved at a very scary fast rate.
Before anyone could even notice, Jason was now excelling perfectly in every military subjects and even in pilot ranking competition, surpassing Norio Kunato's achievements by a whole new level. The difference between them was life heaven and earth.
It was a shocking news that caught many high ranking officer's attentions, making them think that letting Jason stay in the SDF Academy was just a pure waste of his potential.
It was much better to sharpen and polish him by sending him out to the space. Of course, not everyone had good intention when they thought about this.
Meanwhile, Kunato himself was feeling angry and frustrated to see Jason quickly surpassing him at everything he was good at.
No matter how much effort he poured into getting better, he couldn't surpass Jason. It was simply impossible.
He couldn't believe that some unknown outsider with no extraordinary background could surpass him at everything within just a month.
He also find it detestable that unlike him, Jason was highly respected and loved by many inside the SDF Academy. It was natural since Jason treated the others with the same respect unlike Kunato who didn't cared about them.
To gain others respect, one has to respect others first. If others shows disrespect, returns with the same disrespect.
The people also knew how much Jason worked hard. Kunato's so-called effort couldn't hold a candle against it. Jason literally didn't wasted any seconds and just studied and trained so diligently that it caused others to feel ashamed when they felt lazy, causing them to also work harder.
Jason's presence was literally like a star, affecting the entire SDF Academy in a positive manner.

SDF Virtual Training Facility | 12:12 PM.
Jason looked at the black screen attached to wall of his Virtual Training Room. His name was written on it along with his mission completion scores.

Jason felt overjoyed and goosebumps as he saw that score that reached the machines very limit.
He did everything perfectly without any mistakes that could cost seconds.
Unfortunately, the 1000,0000 score was the limit of the machine and couldn't go any higher.
However, he was satisfied by it since he was the only cadet to ever reach this kind of perfect score. The former number 1, Norio Kunato, haven't even managed to reach 800,000 scores.
The pilot ranking wasn't the only place he excelled perfectly. It was the same with his military academics. He perfected every subjects through pure dedication that was born from the desperation to survive.
Jason wouldn't normally be able to perfect every subject, but because of his new superhuman brain that was far superior than his previous normal brain, he could make the impossible into possible.
He was extremely thankful for Mr. Alien for modifying his body to become so perfect.
Jason was now satisfied by everything he had done and only hope someone would help him become an apprentice guardian pilot.
He was about to leave the virtual training facility, but he saw someone wearing a black military uniform, approaching him.
His lips curved upward.
