Chapter 18 — The Aftermath.
Present.
Sidonia | 11:31 PM.
Sidonia suddenly lost all surveillance and contact over Jason, causing many of them to feel puzzled. They felt anxious not knowing the current situation, and also about Jason's safety.
"Pilot Jason, can you answer us? Reply as soon as possible! What's your current situation?" Seii asked frantically, looking at the videos communication monitor.
Silence...
There was only silence with not a single answer from Jason, only a few occasional static noises. They didn't know what caused their surveillance cameras to malfunction and prevented them from contacting Jason's unit.
However, instead of just dilly-dallying, they immediately went to search for the problem to fix everything.
...
Past.
Space | 11:25 PM.
An abundant amount of pure Higgs Particles were surging fiercely throughout Jason's entire body, overflowing crazily as the crystal core rapidly spun inside his heart.
The surging Higgs Particles rapidly destroyed his superhuman cells that weren't accustomed to handling it, making Jason not being able to absorb properly.
His superhuman healing ability was activated to its very limit, causing his cells activity to enter an extremely crazy rate to restore his body back to normal. As a result, Jason eventually started regenerating with new superhuman cells that were more attuned with the Higgs Particle.
Jason's body constantly went through the continuous cycle of destruction and creation, his superhuman cells quickly getting stronger and sturdier while also filled with powerful vitality, now becoming something that was a perfect vessel for the Higgs Particles.
Jason underwent a cycle of destruction and creation for nine times.
The resplendent crimson crystal core was soon tainted with a dark sheen of black colour, completely merging within Jason's heart and body.
It spun like a tiny black hole, absorbing the Higgs Particles from the universe, and then turning it into Jason's unique particles which was black red.
Maybe that's why Guardian and Gauna have both blue and crimson Higgs Particles respectively.
Jason now transformed, and evolved to become something very differently. His body down to its atoms were changed to become fundamentally superior, surpassing the limits known to superhuman, reaching an inhuman level.
Jason soon finished his transformation in just mere nine minutes. It was pretty quick for such a complicated transformation.
However, this proved just how his superhuman body was extremely adaptive to complicated changes. Mr. Alien also helped greatly with the merging process.
Jason floated on space, the demonic black red armour receding into his body. His appearance still looked the same as before, but underneath his skin, he was vastly different compared to before.
His physical body and six senses grew ten times stronger than before, making it very difficult to adjust and control his newfound strength. It was the same case for his senses which was very sensitive and strong, making it difficult for his mind to withstand it.
His mind can't keep up with the growth of his physical body. His brain also evolved, but It wasn't entirely connected to the mind.
Jason then raised his right arm, a wisp of black red particles forming above it. He clasp it, the particles disappearing back into his body.
He now have the innate ability to have some small influence over the universe's infinite Higgs Particles, and make it his own by using the small crystal reactor inside his heart.
Jason was now like a Gauna and Guardian, being able to directly use Higgs Particles like them.
However, he was still inferior compared to a Gauna and Guardian.
The only problem now was on how to control his abnormal amount of strength and annoying sensitive evolved senses.
At that moment, the trusty Mr. Alien appeared to solve the problem.
⟨ Host, do you want me to create a seal into your body? The seal will not hinder nor restrict you, but will just be a tool to help you control your evolved physical body. I will undo the level of the seal until you get completely familiar with your evolved form. Otherwise, you might accidentally destroy everything you touch, even killing a human with ease is totally possible. ⟩
Jason started sweating, not wanting that kind of thing to happen. It was also not that bad of a deal.
"Then create a seal. I definitely don't want to make any mess. Besides, this evolved senses are driving me crazy!" Jason grumbled while feeling his head hurting from the unfamiliar evolved senses.
⟨ I understand. I will use our lifespan energy to create the seal... ⟩
Jason suddenly felt something strange happening inside his body, causing him to feel some shackles sealing his physical body. But he was still stronger compared to his previous self.
He was now determined to quickly familiar on controlling his immense strength. Learning some martial arts from Aoki might help...
⟨ Host, after you manage to perfectly control your strength under the Level 3 Seal, I will immediately adjust it to Level 2. For your information, Level 0 means the seal is completely broken. ⟩
Jason nodded in understanding, but then realized he still have the ability to control the Higgs Particles. He decided that he will need to practice and grow proficient with using it. Who knows, he might be able to use it to resonate with the Guardian Knight's own Higgs Particle Reactor.
He returned back inside the cockpit of the Guardian Knight, and removed the jamming signal.
"Jason over to the command bridge. Although I have encountered some unexpected troubles, I have successfully eliminated Onizume," Jason reported while looking around.
Onizume already vanished into nothingness after he merged with its core.
He didn't actually managed to see Onizume dispersing into pink bubbles, making him not truly knows what happened toward it.
However, It was certainly eliminated without a doubt.
The Sidonia's command room rejoiced after hearing Jason's report.
"Good, Pilot Jason! However, what exactly happened earlier? We lost contact with you for over ten minutes..." Kobayashi asked curiously while looking worried beneath her mask.
"I don't know, but I encountered some unexpected troubles when I tried to deal with It. I was lucky enough to be able to eliminate it."
"Is that so... Then forget it. It seems Onizume released some jamming like signal that caused the surveillance units, and communication system to malfunction."
Jason was relieved that Kobayashi seemed to have believe his lie. He didn't wanted to tell them what happened, at least for now. It would be strange for them to hear that he could absorb a Gauna's core.
"However, since Onizume released some kind of signal, it must have been requesting for reinforcement..." Kobayashi said while rubbing her chin.
Jason looked puzzled, not fully grasping what she meant. For all he knows, he was the only one that released a jamming signal.
However, shortly after Jason deactivated the jamming signal, the thing that Onizume was afraid before, awakened.
Jason quickly looked in front of him, a dangerous feeling immediately overwhelming his mind, causing him to have goosebumps.
The remaining gas particles that were left by the destroyed Gas Planet started to show abnormal changes, frantically increasing in mass.
"What's happening?" Jason frowned while observing the gas particles that were changing.
Thump!
Thump!
"Aghhh..." Jason groaned deeply, his heart and crystal reacted rapidly beating, causing him to feel a stabbing chest pain.
The crystal reactor was resonating with the changing gas particles.
Jason couldn't understand what it was currently feeling, but his crimson eyes turned darker and darker, black red particles swirling around him fluctuated.
"Just what the hell is happening...?"
Jason muttered while dripping with cold sweat.
...
"Detected abnormalities with the remaining gas particles! And.... its quickly increasing in mass!" The masked assistant reported immediately.
" What's going on?" Kobayashi hurriedly asked while feeling unsettled.
"The increasing mass is not stopping!"
"This... This aren't some gas particles! This increasing mass... A Gauna's placenta!"
"What!?"
Kobayashi and Seii were both stunned to hear that report.
Seii then clenched his teeth and ordered toward Jason who was still connected to the video communication system.
"Pilot Jason! Run! Immediately retreat and return back to Sidonia!"
"A Small Mass Union Ship has appeared!" The masked assistant stood up from her seat, dropping the bombshell.
Jason was surprised, causing him to frown deeper.
"Roger!" Jason quickly replied while retreating as Seii commanded.
A Small Mass Union Ship.
It was the first time he came across it.
Although it couldn't compare to the Planetary Union Ship, the Small Mass Union Ship was still immensely large.
"The Mass Union Ship is approximately about 100 million kilometers away from Sidonia. It also possess an estimated numbers of 7 thousands of True Bodies!"
"The Small Mass Union Ship can't compare to the Union Ship we detected two light years away from us, but nonetheless, the Small Mass Union Ship still cannot be underestimated."
"How's Pilot Jason?" Kobayashi asked while tapping her fingers.
"Detected that he's about to return back to Sidonia."
"Good. Then immediately prepare the main cannon," Kobayashi ordered resolutely.
Seii looked at the monitor, realizing that not only can the Gauna Race morph into complex machinery, it can also change the state of its Placenta to gas particles.
It looks like they still haven't completely learned about the mysteries of the alien lifeform.
Jason looked behind while the Guardian Knight retreated. He saw a gigantic ship made out of disgusting red flesh-like placenta.
His eyes slowly turned cold and determined, for his own safety and for humanity, he must absolutely eliminate it.
That was his next mission.
He will eliminate all Gauna that existed in this universe.
That was the only way for humanity to grasp true freedom, away from the dangers of extinction.
He will continue moving forward.
And not stop.
Until he completely annihilated them all.
It was either they go extinct first.
Or them getting annihilated.
The Guard Knight left a blue trail as it flew extremely fast. It soon managed to return back home.
After Jason returned, Sidonia fired multiple powerful interstellar cannon toward the Small Mass Union Ship, causing a large volume of its placenta to get destroyed, forcing it to halt from moving toward Sidonia.
However, this was only a temporary solution.
The Small Mass Union Ship will eventually move and strike again.
To destroy Sidonia.
The parasites of this universe.
