Chapter 52 —Showdown.
Upon witnessing the Ship-Type Gauna shooting from a very long distance, not only were the pilots astounded, the entire command bridge was also shaken.
"It can shoot from an extremely far distance as well…?" Yuhata muttered with her eyes twitching.
The distance between the two sides was literally 500 kilometers away!
"Shoot! Don't let it attack again!" Seii commanded.
The pilots began to fire repeatedly with the exception of Nagate who was repositioning himself.
A hail of bullets rained down on the body of the Ship-Type Gauna, causing a blanket of dust and smoke to cover it.
However, from within the smoke, placenta bullets suddenly emerged.

The pilots immediately dispersed from their shooting formation, successfully avoiding the bullets.
The blanket of smoke soon dispersed, but there was only a surface damage on the placenta body, not even managing to penetrate the True Body.

"The internal structure of the Gauna is vastly different from normal. It's made out of several placenta layers that alternates between normal placenta material and True Body-like husk material. These layers also vibrate relatively at same frequencies that upon impact spreads the kinetic energy throughout the body, lessening the damage received."
The explanation caused them to feel somewhat down.
They didn't expect the Gaunas to already prepare countermeasures against the mass drivers.
"What should we do now to destroy its True Body?"
The Seii Squad felt lost.
"If we fire at one spot, and deal more damage than it can regenerate, then we can successfully destroy its True Body." En proposed her plan.
"We'll go with that plan. There's no other good idea," Seii wholly agreed, and then added, "All units, charge forward!"
"Roger!"
The pilots replied loudly, and controlled their Guardian Knights to fly toward the Ship-Type Gauna. They advanced while shooting against the Gauna mercilessly, their attacks all concentrated on one spot.
The shorter the distance, the faster the bullets traveled, but they were still able to dodge almost barely. Likewise, their bullets rapidly landed on the Gauna.
Currently, all the pilots were injected with the adrenaline boosting stimulants, raising their focus, concentration, and perceptions to the maximum. It allowed them to see the bullets slower and acutely.
At this moment, they felt their harsh and intense trainings and experiences being proved to the limit. Their anxiousness and fear were also vanishing.
"Be careful of the placenta arms! We're nearing it!"
After that warning, countless placenta arms rose from the humongous body of the Ship-Type Gauna, launching toward the Guardian Knights like ferocious snakes.

Wielding the Thunder Spear in one hand, and the Mass Driver in the other, Tsugomori danced wildly, destroying the placenta arms nearing it.
The other pilots were also fending the placenta arms off, while still trying their best to shoot at the Gauna.
Eventually, they were able to see the appearance of the True Body after shooting at the same spot many times without stopping. As a result, it forced the Gauna to start transforming and gather a large amount of Higgs Particles.
The pilots wanted to stop it, but with countless placenta arms blocking their way, they couldn't clearly shoot it.
"Nagate!"
Someone cried out toward Nagate who was the nearest to the True Body.
Tsugomori, who was completely trapped by several stacking large placenta arms that formed a wide cage, began to glow brightly. The three gems on its forehead and shoulders began to accumulate with power, releasing three large beam cannons forward, creating a tunnel-like path within the placenta arms.
Tsugomori went through the tunnel, and started running across the shifting body of the Gauna. It headed toward the True Body that seemed to grow farther away.
However, a placenta arm soon grew from below as it was running, wrapping around its feet and slowly pulled it away.
Tsugomori slammed heavily on the surface of the placenta body, slowly being dragged away from the True Body that was just before it.
Nagate knew that he couldn't allow the Gauna to transform.
Tsugomori shakily pointed the Thunder Spear forward, its thrusters releasing lots of burst speed to allow itself to get nearer the True Body.
And soon with a press, the spearhead launched out and headed toward the True Body with a blue lightning following its tail by using the thin silver thread.
Stab!
The spearhead stabbed deeply into the throbbing True Body with the blue lightning soon frying it.
Boom
The True Body exploded into oblivion, the placenta body finally ceasing to move. It soon started to turn into millions of bubbles before vanishing.
Nagate panted heavily after destroying the Gauna.
The others were also exhausted after the intense battle.
However, they were relieved to destroy the Gauna and survive in the end, successfully fulfilling their mission.

Several days later, the selection program was finally finished.
The perfect human subject was now chosen.
However, Yure placed the other suitable subjects on hold. She had uses for them in the near future.
In a secret facility, located on the lower floor, there was a man silently floating inside a clear glass tank filled with green nutrient liquid.
Around the man, there were many researchers handling various complicated machines.
And the supervisor of this project, Yure Shinatose, was inside the control room on a higher floor, alongside Kobayashi and Jason.
All of them were here to witness the birth of the new generation of human race.
"Inject the Serum!" Yure ordered solemnly.
