Capítulo 42: Asteroid Battle 2

Chapter 42 — Asteroid Battle 2

Typically, the next normal decision was to separate the company in two platoons that will travel two different orbits. However, Jason thought differently. He instead considered to travel without splitting the forces yet.

Separating the company so early would definitely be a bad idea since the situation within the asteroid was still unknown to them.

Without the proper informations and preparations, it wouldn't be suitable for them to separate their forces in this kind of unfavorable environment.

Sure, they would attract more attention, but they could deal with the mistakes that would arise as a whole.

With that plan in his mind, Jason opened a public channel to issue his next order.

"To all units of the company, we'll now proceed to enter the asteroid's gravitational pull sphere. Prepare throughly."

"Roger!"

The pilots hurriedly replied to Jason, quickly doing some preparations without needing further instructions.

Jason then privately contacted the leaders of the two platoons under him. They were Akai and Samari respectively.

He told them to not split up yet, and only do it after gaining his approval.

The two leaders agreed immediately after thinking it was a good decision to remain cautious.

As what the newly taught Gravity Combat Protocols stated, the pilots began to remove the long extendable barrels of their mass drivers since not removing it would affect their stability greatly when entering the gravitational pull sphere.

They then double-checked the two systems that were specially built for this kind of situation, making sure they were operating normally without a problem.

The last preparation the pilots made were conditioning their mental state, making sure they were stable and calm in order to not make any big mistakes that would hinder the mission.

All of the preparations were soon done and completed perfectly.

Everyone have already removed the extendable barrels of the mass drivers—including Rokurome. The mass drivers' accuracy dropped severely as a result, but it was needed to gain proper stability.

Jason soon commanded everyone of them to enter the asteroid's gravitational pull sphere cautiously.

His most important advice was for them to not panic no matter what happens. As long as they remain calm and clear-headed, the path of survival and success will appear clearly in front of them. Panicking will only dull and confuse the mind, every pilots knew of that fact, but it was specially important to remind them of this fact during such a tense moment.

As the entire Guardian Company approach the asteroid, they could feel a powerful force pulling them violently toward it, causing a large amount of stress to burden the Guardian Knights.

It was endurable, but in case the Guardian Knights lose stability, the only fate left for it and the pilot was to crash into the asteroid.

This meant death awaited them.

The two systems soon started to operate in order to adapt and make use of the gravitational pulling force.

The pilots were quite flustered by the gravitational pulling force that also affected themselves, but it soon disappeared under the might of the two systems.

They soon felt relieved after seeing they were completely fine, managing to avoid their expectations of simply crushing to death.

Jason was unfazed as always, his vast amount of accumulated experiences from Mr. Robot's unique simulations allowed him to adapt with innumerable amount of situations.

He silently observed the screen before him that displayed various visual informations brought by the upgraded sensors of Rokurome.

The performance of the upgraded sensors was indeed great, allowing Rokurome to have an excellent information gathering prowess.

Jason soon frowned as Rokurome detected countless high-energy signatures coming from within the dense reddish clouds covering the asteroid.

"Over to all units, quickly try to avoid the attacks that are about to come!" Jason immediately warned the others without a delay.

The pilots grew tense, preparing themselves for the incoming attacks.

Soon, countless amount of intense crimson rays shot out from within the red clouds.

SWOOOOSH!!!

SWISHHHH!

SWOOOSH!

"So fucking fast!"

Everyone exclaimed loudly.

All of the pilots were horrified upon seeing the projectiles from the Gaunas—Jason was not an exception to this, clearly as surprised as them.

The crimson rays simply flew inhumanly fast, catching them offguard as it was hard to see with their eyes. Only the computer system of the Guardian Knights made it possible for them to react.

It was clear the Gaunas have evolved their weapons into a frightening degree.

All of them immediately tried to avoid the crimson rays that pierced toward them unceasingly. Even with Jason's early warning, some were unfortunate to react late, causing their own units to get pierced and explode into pieces.

Rokurome came into a halt.

Jason blankly stared over the screen, seeing the displays of the units that were destroyed by the Gaunas.

His hands around the controls tightened, as he clenched his teeth hardly, both of his eyes releasing a dangerous cold light.

Jason was prepared for this kind of situation, but it still angered him to see his fellow pilots dying one by one.

It was specially worse when those guys were under his command.

More and more crimson rays exploded out from within the dense clouds below them, forcing them to unknowingly retreat from the sea of raining beams.

However, Rokurome didn't retreated from the battle like them. No, rather, Jason didn't chose to retreat to avoid the beams like them.

Rokurome's mechanical tail swayed behind it, slowly extending forward. Its thrusters then bursted with tremendous amount of particles, diving deeply into the depths of the red clouds with its mechanical eyes radiating an eerie cold light, expressing Jason's undiluted raging yet calm eyes.

After seeing Rokurome charging without any fear, the other pilots also gain the courage to advance forward.

They remembered why they came here.

It was because of a mission that must absolutely be completed.

They were the Knights of Sidonia, marching with unyielding bravery and spirit. They can't choose to fall nor retreat. If they fail; their homeland will fall along with them.

Even if it meant sacrificing their lifes, they would do anything for their last homeland.

For Sidonia!
