Capítulo 26: Dark Pit
Skyworld...
Pit and Jared rushes to the door to start the adventure.
"I've located Dark Pit and Oriru!" Palutena said.
"Where are they?!" Pit exclaimed.
"What?" Jared asked.
Pit and Jared leaps through the door, only to be attacked by Dark Pit and Oriru from below.
"Ow!" Pit said.
"That hurt!" Jared said, sadly.
Pit and Dark Pit as well as Jared and Oriru engage in a brief scuffle, then Dark Pit and Oriru flies away and Pit and Jared pursues them.
"Look who finally caught up!" Dark Pit said.
"Did you have a tea party with your Magical Girls?" Oriru asked. "Is that what took you so long?"
"What's your problem with fighting me and Pit?" Jared asked.
"Doesn't this feel familiar to any of you guys?" Madoka asked, telepathically.
"What? You mean the times Sayaka and I fought?" Kyoko asked, telepathically.
"We didn't fight. We misunderstood each other," Sayaka said, telepathically. "And still regret leaving you behind."
"Are the both of you with the Underworld Army?! Is that why you have it out for me and Jared?" Pit asked.
"Don't be ridiculous! I just don't like the idea of someone copying my act." Dark Pit said.
"What?! But you're a copy of ME!" Pit said.
"Come on now. Think about it. If I was a copy, why would I kick my own butt?" Dark Pit asked.
"Have to admit, Kyoko Sakura. Your fighting style is my kind of style." Oriru said.
"Really?" Kyoko asked. "Is that why you took Medusa's illusion magic?"
"You're way better than that ally of justice crap. Can't believe he fell for it like Sayaka Miki did."
"Shut up!" Jared said, while Underworld enemies begin appearing. "Great. Now the Underworld Army's here too."
"You're a real go-getter, Dark Pit, Oriru. I like that." Medusa said, telepathically.
"Is that so?" Dark Pit asked.
"Yes, though I AM curious how the two of you plan to best your doppelgängers. Of course, destroying Pit and Jared would be a snap with a little help from me." Medusa said, telepathically.
"Don't make me laugh." Dark Pit said.
"Same here." Oriru said.
"Did I say something funny?" Medusa asked, telepathically.
"You've got us confused with the other guys. THIS Pit and Oriru are no pawns." Dark Pit said.
"We'll take care of them, but only after we finish you!" Oriru said. "You're the boss of this universe after all."
"Hmm...now this is a little...bizarre." Medusa said, telepathically.
"I know, right? The mouth on those guys! I'd never talk like that." Pit said.
"And I would never work alone." Jared said, shooting down an Underworld troop with his bow and arrow. "I need friends to keep me grounded."
"That's not what I meant." Medusa said, telepathically.
"Sorry. They can be a little thick." Mami said, telepathically.
"The Mirror of Truth created Dark Pit and Oriru. So their allegiance should be to the Underworld Army." Medusa said, telepathically.
"Hmmm…" Mami said, telepathically.
Jared closed his eyes to imagine himself and Pit shattering the Mirror of Truth, creating Dark Pit and Oriru.
"I wonder if the mirror cracked before the copies were complete." Homura said, telepathically.
"So that explains it!" Medusa said, telepathically.
"So if Dark Pit and Oriru aren't with the Underworld Army…" Pit said.
"Does that mean we don't have to fight them?" Jared asked. "I don't want to face myself. Really. I don't."
"The problem is that Dark Pit and Oriru are fundamentally wicked and destructive." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Yeah, tell me about it." Pit said.
"They will attack anything." Madoka said, telepathically.
"They do seem pretty aggro." Pit said.
"As aggro as a Magical Girl who is losing hope and is falling into despair." Jared said, sadly.
"They were created from the both of you, Pit, Jared. They could very well be manifesting your...dark sides. Their very existence are unnatural. They must be eliminated." Palutena said, telepathically.
"OK... I mean, it's still weird to me, but it makes sense when you explain it." Pit said.
"So, Jared, Manhattan happened a while back." Sayaka said, telepathically. "What do you think caused your copy?"
"Manhattan. Manhattan. I don't know." Jared said.
"Maybe it was due to losing Amy and Rory on the same day." Homura said, telepathically.
"Amy and Rory? Aren't they living happily in the past?"
"They will always love you." Mami said, telepathically.
"Thanks. But that copy. I don't trust him. Even if he's me."
"So, what will you do now?" Kyoko asked. "It's not like you can leave him roaming around Earth."
"Let me get this straight. The Mirror of Truth was replicating monsters. So, now that it's broken, the Underworld Army can't generate new troops, right?" Pit asked.
"If that were the case, their numbers would be shrinking. But that's not happening." Homura said, telepathically.
"Then where else could Medusa be getting her reinforcements from?" Madoka asked, telepathically.
"I really don't know. But there's something very strange about them." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Like their faces? Like, come on. They just scream evil monsters!" Jared said, angrily.
"I'm talking more about their interior. Specifically, their souls." Palutena said, telepathically.
"So how do we get to the bottom of this?" Pit asked.
"Well, one thing's for certain. Medusa's the source of all this trouble. But Dark Pit and Oriru present the more immediate threat. For now, just keep the heat on them!"
"So you three defeated Pandora, hmm?" Medusa asked, telepathically.
"Of course!" Pit said, happily.
"I'm just glad to be out of Pandora's Box a second time." Jared said, smiling.
"You don't seem too upset that we took out one of your top commanders, Medusa." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Pandora may be gone, but her powers live on in Dark Pit and Oriru." Medusa said, telepathically.
"Another astute observation from the supreme leader of the Underworld." Dark Pit said.
"She's more astute than Mami Tomoe and Homura Akemi." Oriru said.
"My, aren't the two of you prickly. Even so, your power of flight seems to outlast Palutena's and Oriru's is able to use illusion magic when Kyoko Sakura can't." Medusa said, telepathically.
"I can't say I'm not envious." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Tell me about it. I haven't been able to use illusion magic since forever." Kyoko said, telepathically.
"Don't let her get to you!" Pit said.
"However, who's to say that his power won't eventually run out?" Palutena asked, telepathically.
"Yeah! After all, your flight power only lasts for five minutes!"
"Pretty horrendous fuel economy, huh?"
"Oh, uh, I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean it like that."
"I guess we're both bad at flying."
Dark Pit flies behind a dormant Zurret and yanks it out of its pot. Oriru summoned giant spears to launch them at Jared.
"Look over there!" Pit said.
"What are they doing with those?" Sayaka asked, telepathically.
"Using us for target practice!" Jared said, angrily.
"You really know my style." Kyoko said, telepathically.
Dark Pit begins shooting Pit with it and Oriru keeps summoning more giant spears to launch them at Jared.
"I've watched you fight hundreds of times, Kyoko Sakura. You're reckless. And I like it." Oriru said, telepathically.
"Not bad, not bad!" Medusa said, telepathically.
Dark Pit and Oriru fly away and Pit and Jared follow them toward the Temple Ruins.
"What is that place?" Madoka asked, telepathically.
"They look like ruins of some sort." Mami said, telepathically.
"We'd better land soon." Jared said, sadly.
"And I'd better get started on deploying my troops." Medusa said, telepathically.
"Come on! Is that really necessary?!"
Pit and Jared fly down toward their landing destination.
"So, Jared, you're like Sayaka. And Oriru is like Kyoko." Mami said, telepathically.
"It does seem like it." Jared said, frowning. "Does this feel familiar to anyone?"
"What? Like me and Kyoko fighting?" Sayaka asked, telepathically.
Pit and Jared land in the ruins.
"Can't believe this is literally what happened years ago. And it's happening again. Like. Seriously?" Kyoko asked, telepathically.
"Somewhere within these ruins is Pittoo and Oriru." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Uh...gesundheit?" Pit asked.
"No, Pittoo and Oriru. As in Pit Two and Oriru. As in Dark Pit and Oriru. Pretty great nickname I came up with, for your dark counterpart, Pit, huh?"
"But not as great as Ptooey, right? Right?" Pit asked.
"That's not funny." Homura said, telepathically.
"...Uh, anyway. So, the plan is to find...Pittoo and Oriru and take them out."
"Correct. They might try to escape, but we can't let them get away." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Understood!" Pit said.
"That should be easy enough." Jared said, happily.
"Pittoo and Oriru could be anywhere, but following Underworld troops might lead you to them. They're none too pleased with Pittoo and Oriru for absconding with Pandora's powers." Palutena said, telepathically.
Jared's eyes glowed blue as he got visions of the near future.
Jared's mind palace...
If Pit and Jared wander around before fighting Dark Pit and Oriru in the open area.
"Are you a little lost? There should be a path from the fountain to an open area." Palutena said, telepathically.
If Pit and Jared wander around before fighting Dark Pit and Oriru at the mountain.
"If you feel lost, go back to the fountain. From there, you have four possible paths. Pittoo and Oriru should be down one of them." Palutena said, telepathically.
If Pit and Jared wander around before fighting Dark Pit and Oriru at the altar.
"Pittoo is at the altar on the hill. You can see it from the fountain." Palutena said, telepathically.
If Pit and Jared wanders around before fighting Dark Pit and Oriru underground.
"Pittoo and Oriru are hiding out underground. There's a hole in the floor of the temple ruins that will take you there." Palutena said, telepathically.
Open Area
Pit and Jared arrive in the open area.
If Oriru and Dark Pit are in the open area.
"Ptooey spotted!" Pit said.
"Oriru too." Jared said, sadly.
The following dialogue will play regardless of whether or not Dark Pit and Oriru are there.
"Hey, what are those hunks of metal?" Jared asked.
"Those are Cherubots. No, don't shoot them. They're not enemies. Get up close, and use the attack button to get in." Palutena said, telepathically.
If Pit and Jared hops into the Cherubots.
"Yeehaw! This is great!" Pit said, excitedly.
"It's like riding a horse!" Jared said, happily.
"The Cherubot is both armor and weapon. Even jumping in it packs a punch! Tap the icon on the Touch Screen to do a jump that emits a shock wave when you land." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Cherubot, you're my new best friend. Don't tell Lady Palutena." Pit said.
If Pit and Jared tries to exit the open area while piloting the Cherubots.
"I can't get out of here! Now what?" Pit asked.
"I can't get out of mine either!" Jared said.
"I guess you'll just have to abandon the Cherubot." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Aw, man! But I love Cherubot!" Pit said.
"Same. They're so cool!" Jared said.
"Unfortunately, it won't fit through tight spaces. Tap the arrow on the Touch Screen to get down." Palutena said, telepathically.
Mountain
If Dark Pit and Oriru are at the top of the mountain.
Pit and Jared begin walking up the trail leading to the mountain.
"Pittoo and Oriru are on top of the mountain up ahead." Palutena said, telepathically.
"How'd they get up there?" Pit asked.
"I don't know, but Pittoo is targeting you and Jared with a sniping staff, Pit." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Game over!" Oriru said.
Oriru summons chain barriers to keep Jared and Pit in the mountain.
If Pit and Jared gets hit by Dark Pit's staff 4 times while heading up the trail.
"For now, the most important thing is to stay out of harm's way." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared reach Dark Pit at the top.
"Whew! It was kind of tiring making it all the way up here." Pit said.
If Pit and Jared head to the mountain area after Dark Pit and Oriru's first defeat, when Dark Pit and Oriru are not there.
"It's a shame that Pittoo is so obnoxious. Just think of all the stuff you could get done with more than one of yourself." Pit said.
"That's a good idea. Having a bunch of Pits COULD come in handy…" Palutena said, telepathically.
"But you would NEVER abuse your power, right?"
"Of course I would. That's part of the goddess job description."
"I should've gone to school for goddessry."
Jared's eyes stopped glowing blue and they went back to the brown hue they were before.
Underground Cavern...
Dark Pit and Oriru are in the underground cavern.
"Finally!" Jared said, happily. "That was a lot of visions."
Pit and Jared walk through a narrow path and approach the ruins of a temple.
"That's what you get for seeing the future." Sayaka said, telepathically.
"This must have been a temple." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Humans turn to the gods in times of need and forget them in times of prosperity. They really are a fickle bunch." Medusa said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared confront Dark Pit and Oriru.
"Hey there, Pit Stain!" Dark Pit said.
"You know I could call you the same thing, right?" Pit asked.
"Can't believe you're ripping me off." Jared said.
After Dark Pit and Oriru are defeated for the first time, they teleport away.
"Says the one who wants to replicate the fight between Sayaka Miki and Kyoko Sakura." Oriru said.
"See ya!" Dark Pit said.
"Bye!" Oriru said.
"They got away!" Pit said.
"Where'd they go?" Jared asked.
"It's OK. They couldn't have gone far." Palutena said, telepathically.
After Dark Pit and Oriru's first defeat, Food appears by the fountain.
"So, where's all this food always coming from?" Pit asked.
"I thought you might want a little snack. Plus, it's fun leaving surprises for you." Palutena said, telepathically.
"Aw, thanks! You're always looking out for us. Nothing works up an appetite like dodging enemy fire!" Pit said.
"I do love eating as much as Kyoko. It's a workout taking out monsters." Jared said, smirking.
Jared's eyes glowed blue as he got visions of the near future.
Jared's mind palace...
If Dark Pit and Oriru have fled to the open area.
"We need to stay after them. I'm sensing that they're in an open area." Palutena said, telepathically.
If Dark Pit and Oriru had fled to the mountain.
"I think you'll be able to find Pittoo and Oriru at the end of a trail. The area by the fountain seems like a good place to start looking." Palutena said, telepathically.
Earth…
Jared's eyes stopped glowing blue and they went back to the brown hue they were before. Dark Pit and Oriru had fled to the altar.
"Pittoo and Oriru are at the altar on the hill. It's visible from the fountain." Palutena said, telepathically.
Altar on the Hill
If Dark Pit and Oriru is at the altar on the hill.
Pit confronts Dark Pit.
"Ha! Found you!" Pit said.
"Finding me's the easy part!" Dark Pit said.
"The same when it comes to me." Oriru said.
The battle initiates.
"I love finding you." Jared said, happily.
"It's like trying to find a Witch in a labyrinth." Mami said, telepathically.
"Yup. And we can win. Easily."
After their second defeat, Dark Pit and Oriru teleport away.
"Little pests!" Dark Pit said.
"You really piss me off!" Oriru said.
"Trying to escape again?!" Pit exclaimed.
"Why do you keep running?" Jared asked.
"You only need to defeat them one more time." Palutena said, telepathically.
"What do you think of Oriru?" Homura asked, telepathically.
"I don't like him." Jared said. "His judgement is askew."
"He is you after Manhattan." Mami said, telepathically. "How you really feel."
"Even so. This ain't right." Madoka said, telepathically. "Jared shouldn't be facing his other half."
"We can't do anything about it." Kyoko said, telepathically. "If Jared wants to fight himself. He can."
"He needs people to keep him grounded." Sayaka said, telepathically. "How does he not have any of it?"
"Because he's lonely." Mami said, telepathically.
"They're headed for the area by the fountain. Stay on them." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit and Jared arrive at the fountain and take a newly placed grind rail up toward a group of floating platforms.
On the grind rail, a weapon conversation or random conversation may trigger.
"How does losing Amy and Rory make him lonely?" Kyoko asked.
"It's like the equivalent of losing everything dear to him." Mami said, telepathically.
"Which he did." Homura said, telepathically.
"I moved on. I have you guys." Jared said, happily.
Pit and Jared encounter Dark Pit and Oriru standing at the top of the floating platforms.
"Let's do this!" Pit, Dark Pit, Jared, and Oriru said at the same time.
The battle initiates.
"Bring it, puppet!" Dark Pit said.
"Who are you calling a puppet?!" Pit exclaimed.
"Palutena says jump, you jump. She says fight, you fight. It sounds like a very satisfying existence. For her, that is." Dark Pit said.
"I have absolute faith in Lady Palutena!"
"The Mirror of Truth doesn't lie. I'm a reflection of your true self. So maybe your faith in her isn't quite so absolute after all."
"What would you know about faith anyway, you treacherous blackheart?! Lady Palutena always guides me the right way. That's why I follow her! And the Mirror of Truth you mentioned?! It's nothing more than a pane of lies. Pandora was just using it as bait!"
"You can't do this anymore. This ally of justice crap isn't for you. You kept suffering and kept getting back up. What's the point in going on? You should just give up." Oriru said. "You really are a puppet for your friends who fight monsters."
"Who are you calling a puppet?!" Jared exclaimed.
"Team RWBY has you fighting Grimm, Symphogear has you fighting Noise, Magical Girls has you fighting Witches. So many monsters. You never catch a break. No wonder you're miserable and suffering."
"What do you know about helping others? You don't know what it's like to help others. My friends guide me the right way. That's why I help them. And why they help me."
"Looks like we touched a nerve. Methinks the puppets doth protest too much." Dark Pit said.
"Oh, will you give it a rest already?" Pit asked.
"I don't want to hear your speech anymore." Jared said, sadly,
"OK, fine. Do what you want. Or rather, keep doing what they want. But us, for one, refuse to be puppets. These wings take US wherever we want to go!" Dark Pit said.
"I could go anywhere without relying on your friends. Because they suffered as much, if not more than you." Oriru said, looking at Jared.
"Not if we take the both of you down first!" Pit said.
"You're not getting away!" Jared said.
"Use the terrain to your advantage. If you lose sight of Dark Pit, use the jump pads to gain some elevation." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pit defeats Dark Pit and Jared defeats Oriru.
"We did it!" Pit said.
"I know, right. That was kind of hard." Jared said, happily.
"This isn't over yet!" Dark Pit said.
"This is far from over!" Oriru said.
Epilogue
Pit and Oriru slide back and both fall to one knee.
"I went easy on you this time." Dark Pit said.
"Same here. I know myself way too well." Oriru said.
Dark Pit and Oriru fly away.
"Wait!" Pit said.
"Come back here!" Jared said.
"No, let them go." Palutena said, telepathically.
Pillars of light appear over Pit and Jared, lifting them off the ground.
"They're in for a big fall, and we need to get back to stopping Medusa." Palutena said, telepathically.
Palutena whisks Pit and Jared away.
