Capítulo 9: Chapter 8: the truth

Even though I felt tired today, my sleep completely disappeared because of my meeting with Liam and his family just now in the park.
Before I got transmigrated to this world, I had a friend that was an animal lover. One of his hobbies was playing role-playing games that are adapted from light novels. he cleared a lot of games but if you ask him which one was his favorite, he would unconditionally reply that requiem online was his favorite.
Requiem online was not a classic game but rather a new game that just launched that year and it quickly became a household name among the gaming and light novel community. it was that much good.
I was planning to play it too next month but sadly I died but currently, that was not important. My friend was a massive fan of Requiem online because he got lucky and found a bug on how to obtain the cutest pet in requiem online which costs more than 10k in-game currency if you try to obtain it the usual way. In layman terms, You had to spend 500$ in real life to obtain it in the game. What was surprisingly interesting was that a lot of people spend the money to obtain it because most of the players agreed that the price was worth it.
My friend was really happy when he discovered that bug and he didn't want to share it with others but he wanted to brag about it too so he only told me about it because at that time I was not interested in the game due to my studies.
Sadly, I didn't realise that I was inside the requiem online because I didn't know the plot of the game as I wanted to avoid spoilers. the only thing I knew was how to obtain the cutest pet because my friend made me remember it by telling me that a lot of times.
To obtain the pet via a quest, you must be a new player and meet a family of three that lost their parents early on, the eldest brother's name was James, and the youngest brother's name was Liam, both cared for their only sister who suffered from a very rare disease in which some body parts become paralyzed because of blocks present in the mana vessel of the patient.
The eldest brother possessed a family heirloom which you needed to obtain to acquire the pet and the only way to obtain by solving the blocks in the mana vessels of the sister. My friend completely told me how to do that too.
When I met Liam and ruby, I didn't notice the similarities but when I learned that their eldest brother's name was James I finally noticed the similarities between them and the bug that my friend found in the game.
To confirm my theory, I asked Liam if ruby had blocks in her mana vessels as the sister in the game had the same disease too and he confirmed my theory.
*** Congratulations on learning a primal truth about this world by yourself, you are not that bad as I thought you are ** the system remarked which was the final surety I needed to confirm my theory. I really transmigrated in a game but it didn't really change a lot of things as I couldn't be like other protagonists that could breeze through the plot because of their knowledge about the plotline because I didn't know a thing except how to obtain a pet that was widely popular for its cuteness only.
** A new quest had been generated because of recent events!
quest name: this Christmas, Santa comes!!!
Description: Ruby is kind and pure enough to be on Santa's list and you already know what would be the most appropriate gift for her this Christmas. Empower the spirit of Christmas by curing ruby's disease completely and prove that miracles do happen sometimes to her family.
Objective: Cure ruby's disease
Reward: receive the family heirloom of ruby's family as their gratitude towards you, receive a sword art learning scroll that is best for you from the system. **
I read the quest before asking the most important question," how does learning scroll work?" to the system.
** You don't even know that? it contains all the information about the art and works as a guide in learning and practicing the art.** the system grumpily explained.
" what do you mean by best for me?" I asked another question quickly as who knows when he returned to being silent so he doesn't have to answer my queries.
** An sword will be chosen by the system that would be appropriate for the host maggot according to the potential of genes, stats, and talent. **
" very well then, I accept the quest. " I said as I changed the alarm time to 2 am instead of 5 am before preparing to sleep.
I would be going to get the medicine for ruby in the dark as it was easy to find in the dark, It is not that far away anyway.
**** 2 am, Steve P.O.V.
I get up and changed into my academy uniform because of the protection it would provide me against physical damage and magical attacks. after that, I picked a small container from the kitchen in which I would store the medical herb after getting it. The container was airtight because the herb releases a pigment in the air after you unroot it that will attract animals and magical beasts, while I didn't need to worry about magical beasts as they don't appear near where I would be going now but wild animals could also prove to be dangerous if they appeared in large quantities.
I finally picked my sword and exited the apartment after locking my room. I'm lucky that the herb was not far from the town itself so I won't need to ask for a day's leave from blueberries because that would have lowered my chances to win a second reward.
I walked toward the main entrance of the outer town for 45 minutes before I reached there, I moved to exit the town but the guard stationed on it signaled me to stop for a moment.
" where are you going this early in the morning?" he asked me as he looked at my uniform.
" In the forest used by the Academy to teach how to deal in the wilderness. " I replied to him as I waited for him to put that information in the registry.
" how much inside and why?" he asked me as the forest near the town might not have magical beasts as it was strictly monitored by the academy but accidents could still happen.
" not more than 2 kilometers inside, I need to get some herbs for my alchemy experiment that are easier to find in the night because it glows in the dark," I told the exact distance but made an excuse for the reason.
" Okay, take this location indicator with you. it might cane in handy if you lost your way in the forest. Make sure to return it when you come back." he said as he passed me the device. I sincerely thanked him for his kindness before exiting the town and moving northeast to reach the artificial forest created by the academy to host group training and competitions for their students.
After some time, I finally entered the forest.
