***Steve P.O.V.
I pulled out the things required to make the rune one by one. A magica conductive ink made from mana crystals found in monsters, a pen designed for rookies to make it easier to draw the rune by inserting mana inside it, and the artifact that I received from James.
I opened the bottle of ink and filled the pen with some ink. Usually, a skilled mana user would just directly use his mana as a vessel to hold the ink and draw the rune but since I couldn't do it, I brought this pen to help me in this ordeal.
I took a deep breath before relaxing my mind and focusing on releasing my mana into the pen. During my daily training in the mornings, I also tried to get a sense of this new thing flowing inside me, and at first, I was unsuccessful but I got inspiration from ruby when I watched her utilize it because of my high mana sensitivity.
I might still not be able to control it well but I could at least make it flow outside of me now and I was getting better at it every day.
It might be due to my exceptional mana sensitivity but I feel like I am more familiar with mana and magica components than blood inside me.
Once I was sure that mana started to mix with the ink inside the pen, I picked up the phone and started drawing the rune on the roof while looking at the phone.
Little miss just observe me while occasionally rolling around and playing with her tail when her focus got broken.
Took me 5 minutes but I was successful in drawing the rune. It shimmered in a ripple loop once it got completed.
" Here we go" I raised my head to look into little miss's eyes as I raised my mana and inserted it into the rune from my side exerting force to make it flow slowly but steadily to her.
The rune's job was to convey my thoughts to her and let her understand the terms of the contract.
" Meow..." She exclaimed when the mana connected with her while her fur stood up before calming down once the rune started to do its work by conveying to her that it's not dangerous.
" Grr... meow " She cleaned her whiskers as her tails flickered independently to each other.
I suddenly felt a sense of hunger that felt foreign and different which left me confused before I realized that I was feeling the desire of little miss because of the rune.
I took another slice of smoked meat before handing it to her with she immediately started to play.
I sensed satisfaction from the rune as she started making purring noises. I received an agreement from her about the contract but she conveyed some conditions that I must adhere to.
I needed to take care of her and her needs and she must had the necessary freedom when she wanted to have it.
I conveyed my consent to her conditions through the rune and she raised her head to look me into my eyes as I received her agreement to be my contracted creature.
I smiled as I picked up the artifact to present as a consideration to her. She seemed satisfied with an artifact so I started the bonding process.
I withdraw my mana from the rune before closing my eyes and concentrating it on my finger as I present it to her.
She put her paw on it as she too pulled out her mana and concentrated it on the paw.
Every being had a special signature and frequency to which mana flowed into them that was unique to their own.
We both allowed each other's mana to flow through other's mana vessels toward the heart and once there, we imprinted our signature on each other's hearts.
The process was halfway done and now my mana started to flow into her signature imprinted in my heart and the same was happening with her.
Suddenly the suction increased several folds for me which caused me to release air from my lungs. With the speed it was sucking my mana, I would be depleted before the contract could get completed.
'This is an unexpected disaster', I thought I felt my headache increasing by a noche while my eyelids started to feel heavier by the second.
" UmP hmm " I bit my lip to stay conscious. My gaze started showing dark spots and I felt my will constantly being tested.
It was said that under pressure humans display physical capabilities that were generally considered impossible and I felt something like that too just when I almost gave up my will.
Suddenly It felt like in my whole life after I transmigrated, I was breathing in the water without gills and finally, I breathed pure air for the first time.
*** Third-person P.O.V.
Suddenly the ripples started appearing in the air around Steve and he started to process mana directly from the atmosphere to fuel the contract.
His forehead relaxed as he renewed his effort in providing mana to his heart. It continued for a few minutes before the suction finally calmed down and he felt an active connection between him and little miss.
*** Steve P.O.V.
I finally understood what my fluctuating mana sensitivity meant and if im not wrong then im about to receive a notification.
** Fluctuation in mana sensitivity stabilized **
'Speak of the demon', I thought as I picked up my partner and put her once again in my chest pocket.

' Unknown and unspecified, huh?' I once again walked to the edge of the building and checked the time on my watch before patting Little miss on her forehead as I breathe a sigh.
" We will decide your name tomorrow, why don't we just enjoy fireworks for today?" I glanced at her before turning toward the sky as the new year finally arrived and the fireworks show started.
" Meow purr..." We enjoyed the colorful sky together for a few moments before I raised my phone and took a selfie with little miss with fireworks in the background.
" Happy New year " I leaned against the railing as I took some deep breath in peace, " In a few days, the real test will begin for us. " I told her as I looked toward the Academy beyond the inner town.
