Takemichi was conversing with his friends as they walked to the school's field to lay down and relax. It was around 12 p.m. at the time, and every student in their school was having some fun at the math festival held inside the hall. Takemichi's friends were talking about gangs, but his mind wandered to how he could identify Kisaki in order to save his cousin's and ex-life girlfriend's in the future.
When he came to a halt, his gaze was drawn to a familiar (h/c) lock sitting under a tree, her back against it and her eyes closed. Takemichi couldn't help but stop at his footsteps and watch his cousin who was currently wearing headphones. She appeared to be at ease which he usually failed to notice.
Takemichi had always wondered why he had never noticed his cousin's glum expression until now. She always had a stoic expression on her face, which gave the impression that she shouldn't be bothered.
"What's the matter, Takemichi?" Akkun questioned, when he noticed Takemichi had stopped walking beside him.
He followed Takemichi's gaze and found Takemichi's cousin sitting beneath the tree.
"Oh? It's Hanagaki-chan, she usually hangs out in that spot." He said this while gazing over at the (h/c) haired girl, his hands stuffed into his pockets.
"She does?" Takemichi questioned which caused Akkun to nod his head in response, the two had been left out by their three other friends.
Takemichi, on the other hand, had forgotten about it because he was distracted with his cousin.
Now that he thinks about it, he did have some little information about her, but he didn't know anything about her involvement with other gangs or knowing people who were members of one. He is also unaware of her status as a delinquent, as he is.
(Y/N) and he had stopped living in the same house together since the day he graduated from high school, since Takemichi moved far away and started a new life. He cut ties with everyone, including his own family.
However, after a year, his cousin found him down at a convenience store where he was working. He was ashamed that day, but when he saw her relief expression, he felt terrible and happy at the same time.
He was happy because his cousin had been worried about his well-being. He was happy that someone was still looking after him. He was happy that she had not forgotten about him. However, he felt bad about not saying anything when they graduated from high school. He felt bad about not even saying goodbye. After all, the year they had been apart had served as a bridge that had deepened their relationship as cousins and best friends.
"Yeah, I saw her very often walking towards that spot." Akkun replied, causing Takemichi to snap out of his position as he was being pulled by Akkun through his uniform's collar.
Takemichi couldn't help but feel driven to learn more about his cousin as he cast his final glance towards the (h/c) haired girl. He felt as if he was missing out on information because all he remembered about her was that she was an athlete with a good school reputation.
And he had no idea that his cousin had been keeping a watch on him ever since, making sure he didn't end up like the person who had been close to her.
(Y/N) let out an irritated sigh as she fluttered her eyes open.
The book in her hand, which was on her lap, was left open to the page where she had paused to read. She didn't intend to fall asleep, but boredom was getting the best of her, so instead of going to the math festival as her homeroom teacher suggested, she opted to spend some time alone in her usual spot.
Putting her stuff back to her bag, her gaze was suddenly drawn to the piece of paper that had been handed to her the day before.
It was a letter sent to her from someone with the initials I.K, and she had no idea who it was. She struggled to remember everyone she had ever known, but she couldn't think of anyone.
Our dear mc, you see, doesn't have many friends, but she doesn't seem to mind. She only had two or three friends, which were definitely Baji, Hinata, and Takemichi, because having so few was already enough for her.
"Hanagaki-chan, are you already on your way home? Would you like me to accompany you home?"
As she was changing her shoes, a guy from another class in her year approached her.
She looked over at him, chocolate brown hair and emerald green eyes. The guy was a little taller than her and she didn't feel anything towards him or anything that screamed danger, so she simply shook her head in response to his question.
"Then, Hanagaki-chan, be careful." The guy said with a smile on his face, as (Y/N) waved her hands in the air, leaving him in the shoe locker.
It was about four o'clock in the afternoon, and the majority of the students had already left school and some were engaged in their various club activities. But, as she had a day off from her club activity today, so she decided to go shopping for some stationery. She was looking straight ahead of the road, clutching the strap of her school backpack, and didn't realize that someone had tried to draw her attention from afar.
His jett-black shoulder-length hair was entirely loose, and he had a confused expression on his face.
"Where is she going?" Baji asked no one in particular as he followed her form through the crowd until she vanished.
He shrugged it off since he had a lot to do today and could easily call the girl on the phone anyway. They had been friends for four years, after all.
Apart from Takemichi, Baji was the closest person she had in her life while Hinata, her cousin's girlfriend, had just become her new friend. Although she had already considered the orange-haired girl a friend even before their middle school years, they never really spoke that much.

She had just finished buying the items she needed and had also bought items that she absolutely did not need but found them cute.
She decided to have some ice cream on her way to the waiting area while carrying two bags of the items she bought, but she came to a halt when her eyes landed on a familiar park sign.
"Yoyogi Park?" She read the name and immediately recognized the park as the one mentioned in the letter.
She checked the time on her flip phone in her pocket. It was fourteen minutes before six o'clock.
She was uncertain about whether or not to follow the letter because she didn't want to waste her time. But taking a rest for a while wouldn't hurt her, right? Also she was already tired of walking around.
Finally, she decided to stop for a while or perhaps wait for this person if he showed up or if this letter was telling the truth. Nevertheless, she had no expectations about this.
She took a stroll through the park, her heart racing with nostalgia. She felt like she'd been here before, but she couldn't recall when, despite the fact that this park was close to the house where she used to live with her family before being sent to Takemichi's house when she was eight years old. She came to a halt at the bridge, sighing, and gazed down at the water at her own reflection.
A few people were around; some were having a picnic, while others were simply lounging on the seats. But it was the two voices of small children who were being harassed by a group of high school boys that drew her attention right away.
"Come on, hand over the cash. We're not going to hurt you." One of the high school boys said as the two silver-lilac-haired girls held each other in dread of being hurt.
"We... We don't have money."
Her eyes narrowed at the sight she was seeing, as the high school jerks proceeded to harass these innocent children.
"What?! Didn't you say you're going to get ice cream? We'll hurt you a lot if you don't give me the money you're going to spend on ice cream!" The mohawk guy shouted as he tugged the older girl's hair, causing her to yelp in pain, pushing her to struggle him off. The younger girl cried and attempted to help his sister, but because she was a child and he was older, she was shoved to the ground.
"Mana!" The older girl screamed as she tried to fight the mohawk's guy's grip, but she couldn't do anything and just cried. Obviously, he was older than them.
One of the high school delinquents was going to grab the younger girl but was stopped when a foot struck his hand.
"You're such a coward for harassing these innocent girls." Her eyes sharpened as she glanced at the delinquent group's leader. The guy with the mohawk haircut was holding the pigtail-wearing girl.
She couldn't help but intervene since she doesn't like it when people mistreat children, even if they are adults. Bullies, in fact, are something she despises.
"Didn't you run off with that blond guy the other day?" Some of them asked, her brow furrowed at the voice, then the guy who talked stepped in front.
(Y/N) instantly yanks the mohawk's guy hand away from the other girl, pulling her closer to her and covering the two girls behind her back. As they both clutched at the hem of her uniform skirt, she could feel their bodies trembling with fear.
"It was you. The bitch who made fun of my gang!"
"I think you got the wrong person." She stated firmly, her gaze remaining fixed on the sharp amber orbs looking down at her.
"Did you already forget about it?" As his figure loamed over the three girls, he bellowed.
"What are you talking about, Gen?" The mohawk guy questioned him.
"This bitch right here and her friend beat me the other day."
"Oh? The one when we were on the road?"
"Yes, that one."
That's when she realized what had happened the day before, when Chifuyu had appeared and kicked this guy in the face. The person in front of her was irritated as her lips suddenly tugged upwards.
"What are you smirking at?"
"Nothing. It's just that I suddenly remembered that you got unconscious in just one kick." She cooed, causing the guy in front of her to lift his hand and prepare to slap her in the face, but he was stopped when he looked into her eyes, which were devoid of any fear or emotion, and he was left perplexed.
"Stop that, Gen. I know who this girl is." The mohawk guy stated as he began to light a cigarette in his hand.
Her brow was lifted at him as she turned her head in his direction.
"You wanted to look cool but failed by bullying children," she said as she gently pulled the younger girl's hand from her skirt, and before they knew it, Gen was already on the ground, his nose bloodied as he struggled to stand up. "See, a single kick can easily knock you out. How frail."
"You bitch!" He growled, his teeth clenched, as he blew smoke out of his nostrils and tossed the cigarette.
"How about a one versus five?"
