Capítulo 7: 7 Entry Test
I heard the test is pretty simple.
Jhon agreed, "yeah it's a small academy compared to where the real talents go to school. I had wanted to apply to 1 of the 6 biggest academy but I would have to travel to the capital. Even tho my dad is a merchant, its still to hard to get a group of strong mages to risk there life to get there.
My dad said he doesn't have mana stones to give them or high level beast cores. Ryan have you considered a school in the capital or any other schools."
"No, never really thought about what's outside the city if im being honest. Only recently I just started thinking more about the wilderness outside these walls. What about you Jessica" Ryan asked.
She look at him and smiled, "yes, I thought about joining Arm force academy. It's the academy that have the backing of the people that support protecting the weak. It's supposed to be a more up right academy compared to the others."
" Am I the only person that never thought about what's outside these walls. I don't even know that academy."
"My dad left a note with my mom saying that I should go to that academy it will treat me better there. He Left me a referral too, for that academy and a 5 person location lock teleportation talisman.
All i need is to be strong enough to rise through the ranks. There strict on the rules but alot less people abuse there power there. It will be possible to become successful with some hard work."
"I thought your dad died long time ago on a mission." Jhon said
A sad expression appeared on her face as she heard him. "He might of, he left on a mission and never came back. We never got any confirmation that he was dead or alive. He wrote many letters for different occasions before he left. He must of known there was a low chance in coming back"
"He had to have been a powerful and important person to leave you a referral and talisman to that academy. No offense but how did you end up in this poor city?" Jhon asked.
"I'm not completely sure either, I was born in this city. My dad left on a mission when I was 5. I don't know why we never left this city but I do know how my dad met my mom.
My dad was on a mission for the academy outside the city walls in this area. He ran into my mom and helped her by killing some strong beast at the time. Saving her and the people she was with. My dad was looking for a certain place for his mission in the area and my mom knew the location. She helped him look for the place and one thing led to another.
I was born, than 5 years later he left on that mission and never cameback. Mom only give me the letter and other things at certain times."
Jhon mumble so only Ryan could hear "I only asked why she stay in this city, a simple i don't know would be fine. She told a whole life story of how they met, that didn't help at all in answering the question."
Ryan glared at Jhon. "And you always wonder why she don't like you"
Ryan could tell she feel some type of way about the whole subject so he try to change the topic. "Why are you at this academy if you want to go to Arm Force academy and you have the ability to get there."
"My mom won't let me go. She wanted me to come here for my first year. My mom think that the academy life will be to hard for me. She said I don't have the right determination to become strong and will get bullied." Jessica said grudgingly as she made a pouting face.
Jessica little innocent face turn into an arrogant one as she continued to talk. "I'm really talented and stronger than most people my age. I really don't know why she still think I don't have the right determination to become strong. I will show her."
"It's not all bad, you get to be my little sister for another year" Ryan said as he pat the top of her head. She just looked at him with that bright smile that always makes a person subconsciously smile back.
Ryan couldn't help but to think, maybe her mom is right. I can't picture this innocent face covered in blood beating and killing people. Ryan shook his head, attempting to shake the thoughts out of his mind.
Only now noticing its almost his turn for the test. When Ryan turn came, all they did was ask him a few question. His age and how long he been able to sense mana. Anyone can join the academy if they awakened mana sense and pay 5 gold. It's not that hard to make but if you poor poor it may take a few years to save.
They gave Ryan a glass orb to put his hand on. The orb is just a low rank mana measuring tool. It show how much mana you have in your body. Brighter the brightness It give off, more mana you have in your body. It only work for rank 3 and below.
Ryan put his hand on the glass orb, few seconds later the orb had a small glow to it. They wrote down peak of refinement on the paper and said pass. Ryan was not worried he would fail, he had already knew as long as you can sense mana you will pass.
It was Jhon turn next, his orb was brighter than Ryan. They still wrote peak of refinement.
Jessica was the only person that caught alot of attention from her test. She was 13 years old and was senseing mana at age 11. When she put her hand on the orb it glowed the brightest by far.
The instructor said with a smile. "Good, you are very talented to be middle of rank 1, close to the peak".
Than asked her for her core element. It wasn't required to answer but she still gave an answer. "Light element" and walked away.
As Ryan watches Jessica walking back he couldn't help but remember what she had said earlier. "Even tho I'm really talented and stronger than most people my age she still think I don't have the right determination to become strong."(I didn't know that it was by this much. Maybe she should be my big sister and I be the little brother.) Ryan look back to Jhon and asked "whats your element."
"Fire, I want to be a forger. It be easy to make money and my dad is a merchant. I'm not to big on doing the fighting to the death thing with other people. What about you?" Jessica just join back as Jhon asked Ryan
"lightning element hopefully it will be speed related."
"A pretty cool element I wish I had a speed related element. A ability to escape from any danger would be nice too."
Jessica had a surprise expression on her face when she heard there conversations."Me too."
Ryan look at her confused "you too what?"
"Your aiming for speed just like me. Once I am able control my light element better ima be really fast." As she said that her eyes glowed with light.
Ryan couldn't help himself and blurted out in a daze, "you look amazing". when her eyes glowed.
Jessica blushed and smiled when she heard Ryan words." I thought it would make me look cool and serious. I will be making my eyes glowed every time I start taking my fights serious. Sadly my mana characteristics I got from my mana core is not speed related but protection related."
Ryan just laughs and said "keep it up once I form my core we could race".
Ryan pause for a second as he said that, wishing he already had a core so he could make his eyes shoot out with lightning at the end of his sentence.
Time pass as they continue to talk to each other. A teacher finally told everyone that had passed to follow her. Which was pretty much everyone that came to take the test. They arrived at a big stadium with seats. Another teacher came out in front of the students and started talking.
He wasn't to loud or speaking low. "Congratulations and welcome to the Bullford Academy. There will be a bord posted up with people names and there class room to go to in the next 20min so please wait patiently."
He walked off the stage, saying very little. It was very underwhelming for everyone and no one had a reaction to his words.
20 min later Ryan and his friends look at the list for there names. Ryan and John was put in the same class room while Jessica was in an elite class. They went there separate ways after few minutes of talking to each other.
Ryan and Jhon made it to class than found a seat next to each other. Ryan look at all his class mates wandering how much time he will get to spend in the academy before he have to leave the city. Looking to the side at John thinking if he should speak about the upcoming trouble or not. "CREEEEEEEK"
The sound of the door opened causing everyone to become silent and and interrupting Ryan thoughts.
