Elizabeth didn't get into a fighting stance, she just stood there with two wooden swords pointing downwards. She didn't seem like she was taking the spar seriously as her indifferent gaze landed on Ryan.
As for Ryan, he was already in his fighting stance standing across from her. He was not planning on taking her lightly.
"FIGHT!!"
Ryan used his floating steps to run towards Elizabeth, but to his surprise she was faster than he had expected.
She had closed the distance in just a brief moment. Ryan had to stop his charge to get ready to defend the sword swing that was already coming at him. Ryan successfully blocked the first strike but started to struggle when she used the other sword too. He had zero experience at blocking more than one sword at once, and it was obvious.
She accurately swung one sword after another, showing off her skills with dual swords. Seconds In the fight, Ryan was already on his back foot doing his best to keep up.
His blocking was horrible, it look like he just carelessly flinging his sword around and getting lucky at blocking her attacks. If he didn't have the ability to make his sword weigh less, he would of lost already.
Anyone that is watching the fight could tell Elizabeth wasn't even going all out and could win any time she wanted.
"That's enough." Tom said stopping the spar.
There spar was extremely short, because there was no point to continue. Ryan wouldn't be able to do anything and she was slowing down her attacks to give him a chance to block.
"I couldn't even last a minute." Ryan said helplessly
"Yeah." Tom said scratching the top of his head in slight disbelief. Tom had always thought highly of Ryan skills, but he starting to realize he may had overestimated him.
"There is alot of room for improvement. Without your element, you will be lucky to be considered average. The best place to start would be fixing the foundation of your basic martial arts, but that is not something you could fix in a week. Your reflexes are not bad, but your control over your body is. "Tom said, as he attempts to think of the best way to improve Ryan combat skills in a short time.
"Since there not enough time to teach you martial arts techniques, I will just share my fighting experience with you. Like the best way to block dual swords, how to get past a certain defense, or even how to deal with people faster than you. You will be facing many different fighters in the arena."
"Thanks, I would appreciate that. Ryan responded sincerely.
"Brian, Elizabeth. I want you two to spar for a bit before we get into your training. There is alot for Ryan to learn from it." Tom said.
"Alright, okay." They both responded
As they got into there fighting stance, the asmephare got heavy with tension in the air.
"Do you senes the tensionin the air. That what it feels like when both have the confidence to win. Let me ask you something Ryan. Even though you was in a fighting stance like you was ready to fight, did you truly think you would win. Tom asked Ryan in a sullen tone.
"N-no." Ryan said hesitatingly.
"Why?"
"They were stronger, I am only a rank1. Plus I have no spells or martial arts skills, and my fighting technique can't be said to be great. I knew I wouldn't beat any experience fighters with just martial arts techniques."
"That's something you need to change, always have confidence in yourself. Even if there was a 100% chance you would lose, still fight like you have everything under control."
"Answer me this, what would you feel if Brian looked unsure at beating you. He looked like he will try but he knows he will lose and you can see it all in his eyes. Would you feel less confident in winning or Would you feel more confident in winning with less pressure on yourself?"
"I would feel more confident in winning, probably would of gave me hope I could actually win."
"Try to act more confident, it could play a bigger part in a battle. If a person was confident in winning the whole fight and you hit him across the stage with a good hit."
"If the person on the ground still have confidence in his eyes in winning, I guarantee that you will hesitate to deliver the finishing blow. In the back of your mind you will feel like this person is setting a trap for you."
"That moment of hesitation may give the confidence person a chance to turn the situation around. I'm not saying it will play out like that every time, but it could help. Plus you should never go into a fight prepared to lose, unless it was apart of your strategy to win." Tom said, before starting the spar.
"FIGHT!"
Elizabeth had moved extremely quick, to where Ryan had loss track of her. Brian turned and blocked her flurry of strikes.
"The speed you just saw her used, is her aura and movement skill being used at the same time. She had only used her movement skill when she fought you."
"Elizabeth aura let her enhance her body in all physical stats. Her healing, speed, reflex, strength, and even make her brain process faster. The downside of it, is she use alot of her body energy. She will need to eat alot after the spar."
"How could Brian keep up with her, when he was barely keeping up with me." Ryan asked with a confused expression.
"Brian had used his aura to feel the vibration of her running to pin point the direction she was coming from. Once he figured out the direction he used his movement skill to rotate himself the direction she coming from and used the power of the rotation for his attack."
"It may had seem like he was blocking only but some of them blocks was attacks. Elizabeth just stopping the attack before it get to much power behind the swing. She is weaker than Brian and would struggle to receive an full power attack from him."
"Ohh."
"Being able to predict an attack is something you really need to learn how to do. All you do is react to there attacks so it becomes hard to counter attack them. If you knew a person was swinging left with a sword, you could already have in your mind what you doing after that swing." Tom said as he attempts to give him advice.
Elizabeth had slowed down her speed by stopping the use of her aura, she couldn't maintain fighting like that. She normally only use her aura in burst.
With the strikes of her attacks slowing down, it gave Brian a chance to counter. He used a Martial skill flame burst, that will cause his sword to explode with flames with each swing.
Elizabeth had to back off because of the heat and used her lighting arrow spell as a range attack. Than she used her aura to increase her speed to run around Brian. Once she got out of his line of sight, she jumped up and used lighting arrow again to shoot a quick bolt of lightning at him.
When Brian lost sight of her, he paid attention to the vibration on the ground. Little did she know he was able to tell from how the vibration on the ground sounds, that she had jumped up.
He hurriedly turned around and was also prepared to block a strike above. He blocked the spell with his sword coated in his aura.
"You lost, I could of just cast my earth spikes spell as you had landed." Brian said as Elizabeth landed back on the ground.
"I would of been fine, i would of just jump on top of the spikes." Elizabeth said in a indifferent tone.
"Dad, who won." Brian said
"Its a draw, it doesn't matter who would of won. Yall was just showing Ryan your fighting skills." Tom said not paying there little argument any attention.
Tom turned back to Ryan before talking again but loud enough to be heard by everyone. "This the first time Elizabeth ever thought about jumping to avoid brian detection. I'm pretty sure she got the idea from hearing your story of how you attack the beasts. I'm bringing this up so everyone will understand they're are alot yall could learn from each other."
"Brian, you will focus on more ways of using your spike spell. You don't need to always hit the person with your spell for it to have use."
"While you doing that, you will spar with Elizabeth. Elizabeth, you have to spar with Brian and focus on the same thing as Brian. Find other ways to use your spell without hitting your opponent."
"Ryan you will be sparring with me as I teach you different ways to deal with different opponents. Your biggest disadvantage in winning in the arena, is the randomness in opponents." Tom said, as everyone start to train.
