Capítulo 104: 104 Traveling
Once Ryan made it through the portal he noticed he had felt nothing. You can't see through the portal, its like a blue wavey curtain of energy covering it.
Ryan had assumed when walking through the portal you would feel something, or any kind of change to let you know you are entering it. But surprisingly it felt like you had walked through a door that was held open for you.
Now Ryan realized why Brian wasn't sure if he was in a dungeon the first time.
Ryan looked around and saw guards along the wall standing with no expression on there face. You can see it in there eyes, they are absolutely bored.
The team didn't stay in front of the dungeon entrance for long and left the room immediately. Since all of them but Ryan had already had time to explore the place, they went straight to the exit of the safe area. Not giving Ryan much time to observe the place but he wasn't complaining, knowing he will have other opportunities.
Once they made it out Lukecus started talking.
"Traveling there will take around a week on foot. The time could be shorten or lengthen depending on what we will encounter along the way."
"The mission did give us a rough map on how to get there but it don't say anything about the potential dangers on the rout there. Luckily I had decided to get a better map with the merit points that everyone had contributed."
"Not everyone." Max said glancing at Ryan.
Ryan just ignored it, he simply didn't care enough to comment on it.
Lukecus didn't care about max comment either and continued to speak.
"The map will show us the type of dangers to look out for along the way, but never let your guard down. This is a dungeon, anything can happen. We won't travel in no real formation but I would like it if everyone maintained a certain distance from each other. Not to close where if a surprise attack happen it will hit more than one person, but not to far away where you cant help a person fend off an attack."
Everyone acknowledged what Lukecus said and they all made there way towards the underground city. After a few hours of traveling they haven't ran into any beast.
Ryan was in the back walking but not for any particular reason, he just happened to be walking last. Adam had slow down his speed a little to walk in the back with Ryan.
"Congrats, I had noticed you had ranked up earlier but I can't sense your rank anymore." Adam said casually as he walked with Ryan.
"Thanks, and its a concealing technique that got pass down in my family." Ryan replied.
"Oh, are you apart of a big family?"
"Nope, what about you. You already a rank3 like our team Leader, are you apart of a big family like him."
"Nope. I actually got a pretty humble background."
Adam look ahead and than look back at Ryan with a knowing smirk.
"What." Ryan asked confused by Adam action.
He lowered his voice to speak. "I just noticed why you are lingering in the back." Than he looked at Raven butt rocking side to side with each step she took.
Ryan following Adam line of sight caught on immediately on what he was trying to say. Ryan paused for a brief moment to admire the sight before responding.
"It has nothing to do with that, i didn't even know this was a benefit i could receive from walking in the back."
"But that must be your real motive for coming back here to talk to me. Less than a minute had passed and you was already looking."
"I won't deny or agree with your statement." Adam said in a low voice while chuckling.
Ryan just laughed lightly back.
More than half the day went pass and they haven't ran into any beasts yet. Adam and Ryan spent the whole time talking to each other about random things as they traveled. The others was walking quietly on guard for any surprise attack.
"This is boring, I thought we would run into a beast by now." Max said loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Its probably because there not many beast along this path. I can tell from the tracks marks many other teams took this exact route, so they probably killed most of the beasts along the way." Lukecus spoke up.
"Oh yeah, did you and max ever had any pervious grudges?" Adam whispered to Ryan after Lukecus got done talking.
"It seem like he disliked you as soon as he found out you was on the team."
"I literally never said a word to him, or met him a day in my life. I have no idea why it seem like he is targeting me." Ryan replied nonchalantly. He didn't seem remotely bother by it.
"Are you and the 2 siblings that is up there are close friends?"
"Somewhat, but I wouldn't exactly say we are close friends though. I only known them for about half a year and there dad wanted us to stay together to help each other out in the academy. "
"Oh, do you like Elizabeth?" Adam asked.
"Naw, I think she is pretty but I don't actually like her in that way."
"In that case could you put in a good word about me, if my name ever get brought up around her. I wouldn't mind trying to get to know her, it just getting her to open up and talk is the hard part."
"I tried talking to her last time we had went to the dungeon but she wasn't really talking. Like....like...humm."
"Well she would answer anytime I directly asked her anything, but her responses was so dry and indifferent it was if she wasn't talking. If that make sense." Adam scrunch up his eyebrows in trying to think of the best way to answer.
"Hahaha."Ryan had laughed hearing the way Adam described how it was like talking to Elizabeth.
"Well, good luck. I tried talking to her many times and she speaks to me the same way. I had already given up, there no way possible she doing it by accident. I had caught her talking to Brian and her dad like a normal person with emotions in her voice and everything."
"Wow, why is there something wrong with all the females on the team." Adam whispered to Ryan.
"We got Elizabeth which is like a emotionless puppet, than we got Cassidy. Well Cassidy is is pretty normal but she so shy its really hard to keep a conversation with her too."
"Is it really, I haven't talked to her but she seem like a joyful girl."
"She definitely got a joyful and kind personality, but she extremely shy and soft spoken. You will know what I'm talking about when you try talking to her."
"And we got the ice queen. She stay giving off a cold do not disturb vibe. I don't know how she is doing that since she a wind element user but I always feel intimidated when I think about talking to her. None of them are normal."
"Now that you mentioned it you are right, but I don't really care. I have my eyes on this silver hair beauty instead."
"Who is that?"
"I don't even know." Ryan laughed awkwardly.
"She was at the Exchange Hall before and i saw her there. I just know she on the elite team."
"Elite team. I don't know what that is but from how it sounds she way out of your league. Maybe you should aim slightly lower, your a newly ranked 2 F grade talent."
"Its not like im trying to get her now, but definitely will in the future."
"Good luck with that." Adam replied half heartedly.
"We are about to enter the territory of this giant flying insect hive. Keep a look out for them and do not attack unless absolutely necessary."
"They can call for back up and we will get swarmed by a bunch of rank 2 and 3 beasts. They don't actively target humans but they are extremely aggressive. We have to keep our distance from them and hope we don't cross there paths. The only way to make the retreat is by killing alot but if you kill to much the queen will come out. You can only kill the right amount and I have no idea what is the right amount." Lukecus said to everyone.
"Oh, when did you learn so much about these beasts." Raven asked.
"Only just recently. I specifically learned about the beasts we will have to encounter along the way. That remind me, we will need someone to start taking classes on beasts. We can't explore the dungeon without knowing anything, that just asking to die."
"Im not doing it, I don't have any merit points to waste on that." Max replied.
Everyone else had a hesitant face on too. No one wanted to waste to much merit points on just learning beasts when they need it for other things. Lukecus wasn't asking to take a class or to but to know as much possible about beasts.
Seeing his teammates faces he sighed, he couldn't really blame them. He didn't want to do it either.
"We don't have to figure it out now, we can once we leave the dungeon. Plus there are some benefits of learning more about beasts. The academy buy information about newly discovered beasts. The person that will be in charge of learning about beasts will take all the contribution for discovering new beasts."
Lukecus didn't say anything after that but a couple people eyes flickered. Its common knowledge most of the dungeon haven't been explored, so there actually a chance to make a profit if you're lucky.
