The quiet steps behind him didn’t surprise him in the least,but the fact that it wasn’t Mikael,Maxim,or Zoya who came to him did.

“Do you mind if I sit with you?”Rider asked,looking at Noah from the other end of the dock.

“Sure.”Noah shrugged.

Rider looked doubtful,but he walked closer and sat down,looking like a male model with his tousled dark and wavy hair and sparkling blue eyes.The clothing only added to the image;the cotton shirt and shorts in light earth tones made his tan pop,and again Noah thought Rider certainly looked good,but not for him.

“Look,Noah…,”Rider sighed and moved so he could put his feet into the water.“I’ve known Dallas for a few years,and I’ve always known there was some big regret in his life.He never wanted to talk about it,but one evening when he was really low,he did.It was about six months before I told him I was going to go to Europe.”

Noah was listening,wondering where this was going even though it was obvious it had to do with him.
