Raena's heart continued to pound in her chest, even as the adrenaline from the fight began to fade. The realization of what she had done gnawed at her like a dark shadow creeping into her thoughts.
She stood frozen, her gaze locked on Lucius's crumpled form as Professor Ariel tended to him with a mixture of worry and a pinch of amazement from what Raena was capable of. Yet the blood on his lips, the pallor of his skin—these were not the outcomes Raena had imagined when she first stepped into this class.
"What... What did I do..?"
<Finger of Death . . . Skill Completed.>
The words echoed in her mind, cold and final, reverberating through her thoughts like a haunting melody she couldn't escape. The spell had worked; she could feel its power coursing through her veins, but the cost was one that Raena had never anticipated.
