Jian took the first step down the staircase with Rio behind him, not concealing his presence anymore.

'It is quite an elaborate arrangement. Using the most expensive room to build a secret passage to the basement.'

'Though I highly doubt this is the only room that has the secret passage, and it is so easy to access. Something must be at play.'

Rio thought as he calmly walked behind Jian, who walked confidently, leading the way. Jian had not done anything specific after starting to descend the stairs, intriguing Rio even more.

'Just what kind of safety mechanism have they come up with?'

He couldn't help but muse as he started to pay attention to their surroundings for any clue or hint that might help him reach a conclusion faster.

Unfortunately, nothing out of the ordinary happened until they reached the gate of the basement. The stairs were designed to prevent one from directly jumping here, which was a good thing.
